So about one hour from now my barracks will be done upgrading to lvl 4, and I'm super psyched to be able to use golems. But of course, they Are only level 1, and... So are my PEKKAS. I haven't really bothered upgrading them because I didn't have golems to use the high level attack strategies they are in, so my question is, should I use GoWiPe with level 1 golems and PEKKAS?
To refine the above question, which type of base can it be used against? Mid TH8? Late TH8? Early TH9?
I am also thinking about getting Golems and Pekkas and would love to know if it is worth it?
It may be worth it to practice, but a lvl 1 Wipe isn't really going to cut it for war (which I'm assuming is why you want to try out Wipe in the first place). I'm assuming you're TH8, and even if you max them out at your current TH... it still really isn't all that effective as it is at TH9/10.
Extra camp space, extra spells (jump especially), more CC space, and the Queen make a drastic difference in Wipe.
Pekka's don't get really good till lvl 3, and you won't have access to those until very late in hall 8 as they take a ton of time and elixer to max out. Golems also can only be maxed to lvl 2 at TH8, and the problem with lvl 2 golems is they still have the durability of pebbles (though the extra 500 hp does help).
Honestly, you might as well work on upgrading them as you progress through TH8 as you will want them as a TH9/10 for sure... but as a TH8 war strat personally I'd stick to drags and hogs. Those are pretty much your most effective go to strats as a TH8, with a max Wipe only as a backup. Work on getting Pekkas up to lvl 3 first. Lvl 1 golems are sufficient for the time being.
Piggy backing here as I'm in kind of the same spot.
At mid-high TH9, never really used GoWiPe/GoWiWi/etc., but would like to transition to it both for war purposes (when I get back into warring) and/or high level storage raids. Currently wizards are maxed (for TH - at 5 iirc), Pekkas are 2, and Golems are sitting one 1. 8ish days left for maxed hogs to finish, then I can move to upgrading my next piece of GoWiPe.
What would be more beneficial to upgrade for someone who hasn't done much besides barch (for raiding) and loonion (for trophies)? I'm expecting that the troops will need to help carry my inexperience a little bit, just don't know if I should turtle up and work on the golems, or go for a more glass cannon type attack and focus on the Pekkas first.
Tentatively I'm thinking that I should probably do golems up to 3, so they can soak up damage and let me deploy wizs where need be (plus focusing Teslas).
I've brought my GoWiPe to war for the past couple weeks and found it was feasible against mid strength TH8's or weak 9's. I wouldn't shy away from it. What I've found is you have to lure the cc first. Lvl 5 wiz in castles will make short work of our lvl 1 golems even under a heal. From some of the replays I've seen players with higher level golems/pekkas they can overcome this and use the cc to help pull the troops into the core while healing or raging. What I've been trying to master is getting the path to the core opened up quicker with more wall breakers so I can rage them fast.
I just pulled the trigger on lvl3 pekkas the other day. 6m elixir is tough especially since that's the max storage capacity for us. What I recommend is you farm up to the 6m, brew your next farming army, then que your barracks up with dragons. If your lucky enough to find a nice collector raid to push you back up to 6m then fire up the lab and sell back the dragons. This of course depends on if you have any war loot available too.
I've been using GoWiPe with success - I have level 1 golems, level 5 wizards, and level 3 pekkas. GoWiPe with level 1 PEKKAs just doesn't pack a huge punch; but can still be viable.
Prob best to do golem first .... It's at the head of your attack.... :)

It sounds like you're a mid th8, and even with the under levelled ingredients, you can still 2* a base of similar strength to your own.
I would assume however, that you have hogs or dragons to a reasonable standard, which will bring you more success at the moment.
Im going to disagree with majority of posters though, as lvl1 golems arent THAT awful. Still better than giants, as they're not getting splashed or sprung.
If you got resources to burn, still worth practicing, as your attacks will only get better as the troop levels increase. If really want to try it in war, get a higher levelled clanmate to send you a decent pekka.
GoWipe with level 1 troops is not all that bad. It gives you practice for later levels and can be effective when done correctly against other town hall 8's. I'm kind of surprised people are saying it's bad to be honest.
More of a challenge and great practice as stated above.
You could easily wipe out a fellow non-maxed th8 with level one GoWiPe
hello golems are good i am th8 mid n i am doing gowipe with level 1 golems n level 2 pekkas i am always able to get 3 on th8 max n starting th9s ..just time n place ur attack well

some rules for successfull gowpie
attack frm side where th is near
dont let ur golems bulk up leave thm on seprate defences nearby to provide max cover to ur wizards
make way inside for them with wall breakers
carry one rage n two healing spells
no need to kill cc troops as they make ur wiz n pekkas go in base
if u encounter dragon in cc use rage spell over wiz to kill it frm behind golems
never rage ur golmes their attack is low n they are only to provide cover to wiz
wait fews secs before leaving pekkas behind wiz n golems to see if thr was no hidden tesla frm side u r attcking let wiz take it first
if u r attacking th8 or starting th9 let ur pekkas inside the walls... and if u r attacking th9 max or almost max or a th 10 without infernos let ur pekkas roam outside to do outer buildings to make it 50% inside walls time ur healing spells well to get townhall u will get 2 stars n i seriously dont know how to deal with infernos without freeze spells so no advice on tht
also dont leave ur cc troops very early wait to see the situtation they can help u do 50% if u r not making it by taking few more outer buildings .. take a pekka or two witches in cc

This is my war attack, has been for awhile. I will say it works better with level three pekkas, but my golems are still level one. I can two star pretty much any base and have done so against mid ranged TH9's and rushed TH10's. I am usually in the #4 hole when we go to war and I am able to attack my equal (#4) and then bases around there. I will say it has a LOT to do with how you drop troops. I watched a lot of youtube vids, but the one that worked the best for me was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcYOWIL2H1g obviously his troops are better than mine too, but it is the order he drops the troops and spells that is important. This took me from one maybe two stars and TH9+, to two maybe three star. Also, the mix I use is 3 rage, 2 golem, 3 pekka, 1 archer, rest wizards, and my CC is full of WB. I did MANY MANY GOWIPES with 200 space and level 1 golems and level 1 pekkas. My golems are still level 1 in fact [I want all in on my AQ to level 17 lol]
You need level 5 wizards preferably but don't even try it without level 4 wizards. also a level 5+ BK helps tremendously.
Lvl 3 pekkas kill mid town hall 8's, not too sure about lvl 1, probably take out max town hall 7's easily? Idk. But you should definitely upgrade your pekkas to lvl 2 before you gowipe.
I have tried low level troops for GoWipe. You may want to check out my link in my Signature. Also, I realized in Gowipe, that the wiz are the real damage dealers. So try to have a composition that consists of only 2 Pekkas. I tried 4 pekkas but I seldom have 3 star with it.

The rest are wizards.
If you want to have a few WBs build, you may do so for as long as you will have to use rage on the WBs in order for you to get to the inner most walls with just 5-8 WBs. Though it is not preferable because of the Xbows and Hidden Teslas may surprise your WBs.
it all depends on the enemy base layout. For Anti dragon/hog/loons bases I use Gowipe though I only have lvl1 Golems and Pekkas and I 3 star TH8 bases, 2star most TH9 and premmie TH10.
In our current war today I replaced 2 Pekkas with wizards against a premmie TH10 and got 2 stars.

i am currently a th9 and have just tried a Gowiwi attack strat and 2 starred a max th8 that has lv 2 xbows and 2 lv infernos, this was lv 1 golem and witch with lv 5 wiz and wb so not bad at all but not worth the de

So what's some perspective on Xbow lvl vs. Golem lvl? I'm a little bit off from levelling my Golems to 2, but my Pekka will be to 3 soon. I've gowipe'd to good effect but not really an extensive experience. And I keep seeing 3 pekka's.. I was using 2 with more wizards.. Thoughts?

Xbows really don't do much to Golems (even lvl 4 xbows). It's the enemy CC, teslas, and high point defenses that cause issues. High lvl walls also slow them down quite a bit if the base is segmented defensively.Quote:

Had no issues 2 staring pretty much any TH9, and once my Wipe was upgraded (lvl 4 golems) I started to see alot more 3 stars.
Get CC upgraded asap as a hall 9 as this allows you to hold a Golem. Max Golem in CC is huge (especially if your other Golems are weak). They soak up hits like crazy, and barring single target Infernos at TH10 not much is stopping them.
For TH8 (since you can't hold Golems in CC) I'd stick with a max Pekka, or more wiz/witches. I usually went max Pekka. Probably 2 rage, 1 heal or light (heal usually).
Let's hope your wizard are high leveled...
And no PEKKAz level 1 are a bit of a pain to watch.
But golems level 1 will do finee :D
I use level 1 golems...
I got a 2 star with lvl 1 golems on a maxed th 8 base. I find it helpful for war.
I used lvl 1 golems for all of TH8 to 2-3 star in war, as well as in my early th9 days. They're more than viable and if you know what you're doing you'll nail 3 on max th8s in war.
