Clash of Clans on Blackberry

Hi

Since a while now, Blackberry allows you to run Android apps.

Through some Google'ing, I found an apk of Clash of Clans.
Sadly enough, it won't work because CoC tries to connect to Google Play Services, which I can install but doesn't work on my Blackberry phone.
* The game runs, but it won't load my existing village

As using the Google Play Services won't work, a new way to sync with the Supercell servers would be needed.
Just like that there's an other system for iDevices.

If anyone knows how to get Google Play Services running on a Blackberry Z10, let me know!
A disadvantage of download an apk and running that, is that automatic updates don't work and you have to install an app from an unknown source. There are a few people who legitimately port installed apps back to apk's and share them.

NOTE: I'm not asking how to install the app, that I know already. I'm asking if it's possible to sync the installed game with my existing village, which at this moment requires Google Play Services.

PS: I'm not sure if somebody already posted this. Some of the tags I try to enter are already about the Z10, but it could be that it pulls them from my text. The Search function doesn't return a topic about CoC on Blackberry.

Old phone or not, it works like a charm.
It's a company phone (for both private & professional use) and you don't hear me complaining.

these days only 1-2% of phones sold are blackberrys and most of those are to businesses - Clash will never happen there arnt enough people using them any more.

I'm sorry but that's the reality.

If you were in my situation, i am in late th8 about to go th9, been playing since april of this year, you bet you would of wished there was a way to backup in Blackberry. I run risk every time there is an update to the core OS and CoC update fearing it will delete everything and thus, having no backup.

And blackberry certainly isnt a dead platform. BB has just came out with the Passport. That phone looks like classic blackberries from 10 years ago with the full keyboard and touch screen. And the specs are top notch too. Quad-core 2.26 GHz Krait 400 cpu. Adrenos 330 gpu. 3gb of ram. 1440x1440 res IPS screen (i know, odd) Has all the bells and whistles any other android has. High end android phone i may add.

Blackberry 7250 was awesome!

I would like to see Clash of Clan on BlackBerry, too. But I dont think Supercell will do. Even the Kindle Fire using same android but doesnt use Google Services, they dont support sync account. So I dont think SuperCell has time to do it on black berry

Most people who own blackberries aren't interested in things like clash of clans. And almost no one owns a blackberry. In fact, the only person I know who owns a blackberry is my dad.

Too bad

Currently, using my Blackberry is the only way I would be able to check up on my village during lunch, because I cannot connect my tablet to the corporate WiFi and installing software (e.g. some virtualisation sofware) on the corporate laptop is difficult.

I know that most of the Blackberry's are for business use only, but I know several people who have the blackberry as their only phone and as such also like to install a few games on it to kill the time while traveling for example.

I realize that the market share of blackberry is small, and shrinking atm, I also never wanted to have a blackberry.
But now that I have one, and that I use it very regularly, I'd also like to use it in my spare time.

But since I don't know how many people want CoC on Blackberry, there's no way of knowing the ROI for the work put in porting CoC (or at least the synchronization part of it)

Heck, i am running CoC on my Blackberry Z10. And i am planning to buy the new Blackberry Passport. I already know the ins and outs of Blackberry and i know how to transfer my village from device to device without Google+. I really dont see why people prefer an IOS or android device. Blackberry can run ANY android app in its market. And they are snappy too. And that is running on my 2 year old Z10. On the modern passport it would probably run flawlessly. Aside from apps, the BB OS 10.3 is really polished and matured. I have been on BB OS ever since 4.5 back in 2006. I have experienced BB OS 10 once it launched and it could say it was not as good. There were bugs here and there but those bugs were totally ironed out in OS update 10.2.1. I can safely say 10.3 is the real deal. Just as Iphone, Blackberry makes their phones AND OS. So optimization is there. And dont even get me started on messaging capabilities and email support.....

Just because a phone manufacturer doesnt get as much sells as another, doesnt mean their product is garbage. I have been on Blackberry since 2006. By me getting the Passport, it will be the 5th Blackberry device is use in a row. First it was the Blackberry Pearl 8100, then Pearl Flip 8220, then Bold 9780, then Z10, then quite possibly Passport. I have seen Blackberry go from the #1 smartphone manufacturer to close to the bottom of the list. With the change of CEO to John Chen last year, you can definitely tell the guy wants to turn around the company.

Commodore 64 was really awesome in its day. Perhaps we should get COC on that platform too...

Can we add Palm pilots to the poll, I would rather like to play clash on my palm pilot as well.

These are the type of comments that people just dont want to see CoC expanded. These people are obviously happy since they can play this game without a hitch. It is us Blackberry and Windows Phone users can are left out. (Mostly Windows Phone since they cant even install a port). And you guys are more than lost if you guys say these two platforms are dead. As long as business is a thing, Blackberry will always be in use. As long as Windows OS in the PC is a thing, Windows Phone will not go away. I really dont get why you guys are suggesting Blackberry as an old platform. It is probably the reason you guys have a "smartphone" today that is "popular". Better question would be if these people have even seen a Z10, Z30, Q10, or Passport in use? Trust me, they will be truly surprised how Blackberry is now-a-days. i think you took my comment too much to heart, i was just joking around :p

however, i might as well offset my useless comment with one that required at least a little thought. I think daddy already nailed the reason but to back up his idea if you look at the market share of blackberry compared to android and ios the difference is significant. with a market share of 1% globally with that 1% being heavily business oriented (i.e. less likely to spend hours and money on a game) that means that any cost in supporting the migration to blackberry may not be financially viable.

I understand that they have 3% of the US market share but lets get this out of the way. the current lineup of Blackberry phones, primarily the Z30 and passport are NOT bad.And i feel the common consensus in this thread is that they want Blackberry to die. It is the market share that is keeping from you guys and other people from buying Blackberry. Oddly enough why should one judge on the market share to buy the product of a company instead of the actual device itself? That is what is bogging down blackberry. People just dont want to try something different yet, up to par to the other two platforms.

Can we get this thread closed? I don't know if Blueberry's so desperate they're hiring people to market on the forums, but that's what this has turned into. The people and the mods (not to mention common sense) have spoken: the answer is no.

The market share I cited was to back my theory that blackberry doesn't have sufficent saturation to make efforts to support their devices viable, it had nothing to do with whether I myself would buy a blackberry.

I'm not switching phones. I am happily locked into Apple's ecosystem. I don't want to see any company fail, but it has already happened. They are setting themselves up for a buyout. It's only a matter of time before someone swoops them up, integrates their tech, and discontinues the brand.

Why would anyone want to invest in that?

Well believe it or not alot of people have the mentality like this. You are stuck in the apple ecosystem, other people to android ecosystem, and me to blackberry ecosystem. That is how companies go down the drain. Certainly, only 2 major mobile platform isn't enough to satisfy everybody's need. And Blackberry is finally catching up to the other 2. Well, it doesnt matter since people wont even buy them. That is a pretty bad thinking one should have. Just the sheer thought of the Blackberry being competitive to the other 2 doesnt bring 2nd thoughts for you guys on ios or android? Blackberry having a quality product that competes to high end iphone and android devices doesnt enable them to have a sort of interest in the product? It is an endless cycle. People dont buy Blackberries just because they dont sell well despite their products being quite good. So how is BB suppose to sell their products if people just go for sales numbers? People want to have what other people have. People think something is good based if another person thinks its good. Same thing goes on in the new consoles that just came out last year. People are judging how good a product is by how many units it sells. In this case it is the ps4. It's a ridiculous way to buy if you ask me. Sales numbers are good to know but common it seems it is the ONLY criteria for most people...

unfortunately as the small guy among two giant ecosystems they can't just catch up, they need to surpass the others. being on par with android/apple won't convince anyone to jump ship, why jump ship for an equivalent technology with a much smaller ecosystem? betamax, hd-dvd, IBM's OS/2 operating system, etc were all viable technologies with their own set of merrits. however, anyone who invested in them got left with expensive technology with no support.

Exactly my point. People dont want to jump ships. Blackberry has ALL androids apps available to it via Snap. Snap directly connects to google play. Yes, few apps dont work because they require google play services. CoC needs google play services, but you can still play it and have the game saved locally. And you can backup your game via BB Link. There just a few apps that simply dont work like the youtube app. It says you need the services. But blackberry already has a good youtube client in the BB app world so i dont see it as a huge loss. There were other apps i tested that didnt work but forgot :P . That im trying to get at is you are not losing experience (imo you gain the experience going to BB). How much a company is selling shouldnt matter to you. You are consumer, not the treasury of the company :P

I'd like to see this game officially be ported and supported on Blackberry. Right now I have to use other methods to get updates and although manageable its a bit of a pain to do. I also have to wait an extra day before the patch is available.

And no I won't switch phones. :p
