Dropping like .... drags!

High cupped players are losing cups rapidly.. all balance in the game is gone.
There is no base I see so far that can truly hold the raged&healed golem/wiz/pekka army (we like to call the combo 'gowipe' in my clan cuz they go 'n wipe out the base!)
Im not being attacked by drags anymore, since a full drag attack is a sure lose with the fourth AirDef.
Top player in my country used to have 3580 cups, topplayer now has 3450.
The only ppl gaining cups are the ones playing hours and hours, winning 1 or 2 cups each battle and all the while hoping they will get a cheap shield after they stop. (Getting attacked by a higher leveled player who only one stars you will make you lose a few cups, yet give you a twelve hr shield.)
I loved the possibility of winning on defence, cuz you and your clanmates had come up with a tricky base! Those days are gone... And having to battle at least 18 times, having to win all 18 of them too by the way!!, and then having those cups lost again in one lousy defence... Well, it rhymes with trucks!
Just venting... time to cry myself to sleep now... mourning my 100+ lost cups since update...

Sounds tough, I suppose there's nothing you can do except play the game the way they do - or play it as supercell wants you to and spend hundreds on gems to renew your army after every raid.

Yup, think thats about it... and not just once a week or something, no - every day! Because your shield only lasts 12 hours. So, to gain cups - means to gem your multiple attacks daily. Without gems, there wouldnt be enough hours in the day for the training time needed for at least 18 of those gowipe attacks.
Was gonna take a break and get a one week shield - but oh! One week shield not available above 3000 cups!!! (How does Jorge do it huh?)

I heard in an interview that he does 3 48 hour sessions on clash of clans a week and works on his computer whilst looking for a raid. I feel sorry for the guy if I'm honest, must be a horrible loop of working and spending your earnings on a game to be the best player. But, whatever floats your boat.

I feel your pain brotha. So tough to get cups, but gone in an instant! I'm taking a break from collecting cups. Love watching the new Golem attacks! Got hit by 4 Lev 4 Golems recently. It was fun to watch even though it make me cry after. haha.

its wonderful i attacked a maxed out base today for 2000 dark elixir he was hanging around 1350 score in a top 50 clan LOL and his de was on the outside of this base lololol

Well, am very happy for you of course... but it takes out a whoooolllleeee lotta fun if you cant even maintain your cuplevel without having to be on every day, hours long, gemming away. Only option i'm given is to drop cups. How is that helping SC?

In a way it's a bit of a cat and mouse game, first all balloons was a sure win, then all lvl3 pekkas, then all black dragons now the golem...there has always been something that has been a very good possibility of a win at Hugh cups.

True, Daddy. But one could always figure out a base to trick them and get a win on defence. Thats not possible anymore- unless attacker messes up or is a bad player lol.
Now im waiting for that one flying DE troop everyone will start using and since the most brilliant base designers reside in the Dynasty clan... we'll be back winning defence in no time ;-)

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions just yet, Ive won 3 of my last 4 defends and since the update am up 150 trophies without attacking. Haven't upgraded much of the new stuff, and I only get hit by people 3k+ trophies. Defending is easy if you know how.

Pekkas+ Golems+ Wiz + Spells: Can two and three Star every BASE now regardless of walls n defences... ( even maxed ones) check (garytao's videos)

Golems HP Should be lowered (so Layouts and Defences come into Play)

I've been 2 starred once in the last week (I think I won a defense first and had no heros or cc for the second raid), and have beaten the attack you describe as recently as this morning.

As I have already said, I'm being attacked by top players already, who are also very kindly donating trophys to me. 2 of uprisings top players have lost to me for example.

It won't end this discussion because for every so called win you claim to have, i can show ten times as much losses. Maybe the top players who lost on your base were always playing drags before and they need to get the hang of the gowipe army with rage'nheal - but any decent player at least two-stars your base. Simply so.
Go defence ten times (get attacked by 3300+ cups players) and show me the stats... then maybe this discussion will end.
Till then, I know im right in saying... for now... offence has upper hand and balance in this game is gone.

the update has just been live for a week now, too soon to come up with any conclusion i think. Yes, they have come up with a good combo. BUT, remember, its against bases which designed to hold off against PEKKA or Dragons.

They just have to spend more time to redesign the base to beat this combo. It could take weeks or months, but i dont think top players wanna waste time to do this (the OP for example, no offense), instead, just raid and gain cup with this combo then.

As Dave said, his base can hold off a few, and im sure his base is not the best optimum design, it may just hit 1 or 2 important factors to hold off these attacks.

From bottom to top-->
1 star loss from maxed new golem attack
1 star loss from maxed new golem attack
defence win against old dragon attack
2 star loss from maxed new golem attack directly after the dragon attack, so no cc or Heros.
Defence win against new golem attack but player must of forgot to build units other than the golems, they killed most the cc and my Heros though.
defence win from maxed new golem attack with 5 archers in cc and no Heros.

With a few minor tweaks my base does just fine against the new style attack, it's no different than before with dragons.

So wouldn't it be great if everyone just took one week to play without gems, huh? Like most of us do, and watch all the trophies fall by huge amounts. Someone would still be top, wouldn't they? And that would take a bit more effort.

But then, its kinda like asking people to actually race the Tour de France without being loaded up on coke. It'll never happen...

Dave... you can believe it or not... but attacks from top cupped players - 3300+ ... your base will not stand a chance.
It IS different than before with dragons. And before you keep defending your point... get yr cups up this level and show me you're winning defence..

I believe what I see on defence (ill grab some screenshots later of higher ranked people failing too once I get home), and also what the leaders of the top ranked clans in the game tell me. Situation is no different.

Anyways, like Daddy said, the top strategy was balloon, pekkas, then dragons. The strategy usually changes with each update so now people are just trying to find the next great strategy.

I agree pinser. And the strategy for winning offense is clear, lol. My argument is... one could scheme a base that gets you wins on defence before... and with the arrival of Golem... this isnt possible anymore. Just the occasional lucky one. But a good player can rage/heal-golem/wiz/pekka any base at least one star any time.
So at this cup level - you win cups one at the time for each win-and you lose your winnings on defence pretty much always.

I won about 80% of the drag attacks in defence...
wish ppl would go back to attacking with dragons lol.

I have a screen shot of (R2 the J and Moreno) based getting wiped out 100%. Before golem update, not even a near max base can get 100% and now a MAX base is getting WIPED lol so if that doesn't show that DEFENSE has gotten to where it's pointless then i don't know what else will. So i'm on your side AIMEE ^^

its only been a week, how many different designs have you experiment?

Its part of the game to design your base as well, not just to max it (since you can gem it). But design your base take some skills and lot of experiment. Try different ones!!!

They lowered the HP of Pekka's because they believed them to be too strong. I won't be surprised if they do the same for Golems as they are a new troop and may require some tweaking. Just ride it out for awhile, i'm sure SC are monitoring the situation and will adjust them accordingly if they feel they are too OP.

don't matter how you design your base. if the attacker do it right, it will get owned. defense has dropped dramatically with golem BUT BUT there has been a new discovery HEHE. GOLEM is now useless.

Hahaha not so new discovery.... Clan mates have found this out a little while ago. It's not really a secret, golems are slow and ground based.... certain troop type in cc do a pretty good jobon them

Hhaha true, you have to get pretty lucky for your cc troops to actually get to and have time to damage the golems.... but when that does happen they can usually get one killed before all dying out. Overall I agree, golems for what they are should take up much more space or be nerfed. But that's assuming supercell likes balance in their game.
