Would buying a shield right before finishing TH9 worth it?

Im planing to push into th 9 within the week. My question is will it be worth while buying a 2 day shield when i have about 1 day 18H left if i have lets stay 5M+ gold and elixir to protect it and use it as soon as i finish?

I wouldn't. The most you can get taken for is what, 300k? If your storages are maxed, just make sure to farm it back shortly before the upgrade finishes.

I think buying a shield wouldn't only be worth it if your storages were full AND you were planning on having full collectors as well.

I wouldn't because its a waste of gems but if you do just do the shortest sheild for a day should be enough time to spend some loot and collect your collectors

If you're completely maxed TH8 and you plan on hitting with full storages, it can be worth it to do the two day shield so you can let your collectors max. The extra elixir is nice because you can drop 6 mil right off the bat on elixir upgrades

I would say that buying a shield is just plain NEVER worth it.

Shields are never worth unless up in 4k maybe? If you want maxed out storages when you get to TH9 then I would say boost your barracks maybe 2 or 3 hours before you reach TH9, you'll definitely get maxed storages if your at 5m now

it's 150 gems to protect 500K resource (you probably loose if you get attacked)

if you regularly buy gold/elix with gems, it's worth it because 150 gems is nothing

but if you a farmers, it's the worst way to spend your gems. 150 gems can be used to boost for 3 sessions. You should can make more than 10 million in th9 with 3 sessions of boost.

More on topic, I wouldn't recommend buying a shield but it depends on how you expect your base to hold up. If you think your base will get completely destroyed and you value 500K in resources over 150 gems, it's definitely recommended to, and vice versa.

No. It's never worth it.

I went to th9 with full storages. The reality is once you get there and spend 6 mill on xbows and also tie up a couple of builders on your preference of lix upgrades (lab, sf, drill) you only have 1 builder left to work on new buildings. I had to dump a lot of gold on walls because I couldn't spend it otherwise. Having a bit to collect from mines is nice but as long as you have enough to raid then your fine.

I just went to TH9 with full storages plus a clan castle full of war loot today. I've been TH sniped a few times and the occasional TH9 stealing 300k+. But I always made sure to steal more than I lose. I managed to max my storages so many times that I had to put some loot in walls. Now that I'm TH9, I got most of the new stuff, including the Archer Queen :D
With the excess loot I got an X-bow going, the Laboratory and the new stuff. I used heaps of loot of course. But then I managed to farm 4 million today. my logs are full of 150k, 250k and the occasional 300k. lol my first day as TH9 is great. if you want to view my base as first day TH9 here:

So to conclude, you don't really need to buy a shield. Just loot more than you lose.
And I only have three builders. Yes, I'm one of those lucky farmers/non gemmers whose logs are full of six-digit loot stolen. :P

I maxed storage without a shield moving to TH9, loot is quickly spent. If you can save 62.5k dark for the AQ and her first upgrade.

There does appears to be a strange effect that once you upgrade to a new TH level the loot is generous, lots of easy collector raids to help you on your way at the new level. A number of people in our clan noticed this. So don't get a shield, go raiding.
