DE drill upgrading

Mathematically, it is more beneficial to upgrade the lower drill. However, I prefer to upgrade the most expensive option because you can't really enumerate the difficulty of saving up enough elixir for the more expensive drill vs the cheaper one. Here is some math for you:


lvl 1 to lvl 2 drill:
Loss:
...20 DE for 1 days time
Gain:
...Increases 10 per hour
Opportunity Cost:
...20 DE * 24 hours = 480 DE
ROI:
...480 DE / 10 = 48 hours

lvl 3 to lvl 4 drill:
Loss:
...45 DE for 4 days time
Gain:
...Increases 15 per hour
Opportunity Cost:
...45 DE * 24 hours * 4 days = 4320 DE
ROI:
...4320 DE / 15 = 288 hours

lvl 5 to lvl 6 drill:
Loss:
...80 DE for 8 days time
Gain:
...Increases 20 per hour
Opportunity Cost:
...80 DE * 24 hours * 8 days = 15360 DE
ROI:
...15360 DE / 20 = 768 hours

I suggest you just alternate. IME its the best way to go.

Starting with the lowest level, get to 2. (easier to farm up, and quicker to build) ... then get your lvl 3 to 4; 2-to3, 4-to-5 and so on..don't be afraid to overlap the build times. get them done as soon as you can. if your Dark tank has upgrades left too, get them done as well (well, after the drills max).. they are pretty easy on the builder time... and one less thing you need to do late in the build.

TH 9 sucks for elix early on.. its brutal TBH, so much needs Elix upgrades.. but once your camps are maxed, its much easier situation (added to that you can get some lvl 6 troops for farming.. helps a ton.)

so I recommend make them a priority it will help a lot in the long haul of TH9 life. (and your Royals and Dark troops will thank you)

For me the first TH9 priorities were (after building all new items) AQ, Xbows to level 3, Lab, and both drills.

All 6 aid in getting and protecting DE. Plus the next time a 1 gem boosts rolls around you will love the 9600 Passive DE per day. After those it was Teslas/AD/Wizard towers with gold and army camps and Tier 1 troops with Elixir.
