XBOW level based bonus effects
At the moment I find X bows a bit lacking in their defensive capabilities (as I have previously stated in another thread- http://tinyurl.com/n7qmggc). However I decided that rather than a damage upgrade a decided that they need an effect to make the unique and feared in there own way beyond just being being (possibly) long range archer towers. I designed all of these effect to increase effectiveness against all non barch/BAM style attacks, which is what they are good at currently.
LEVEL 1- NOTHING-Level one towers are made to be unexceptional, requiring the expensive upgrades to come into their own
LEVEL 2-INCREASED DAMAGE TO TARGETS GETTING HEALED-This effect would be a similar effect to the infernos heal blocking capabilities. However bonus damage would not benefit other towers and would not be a hard counter to healing strategies. Rather it would serve as a little extra damage to the giants/hogs/wizards that are otherwise invincible to the Xbows low damage when under a heal spell. My grasp of the game is not so great that i would suggest an actual value, I just think i could be a cool idea
P.S.- this also serves to increase effectiveness against low health units that can normally heal through the low per shot damage of the Xbow.
LEVEL 3-"SHADOW POISON"- (replaces the previous effect) This effect would be a slow ramping up of the per shot damage against 1 target. For example the level three xbow gains .1 (or probably less) damage per shot fired on the current target. Given the Xbow's high rate of fire this would increase fairly quickly but not quickly enough to affect most units. This damage would be better than the healing effect and in my opinion be over powered if it were combined with bonus damage from another source. By nature this would nerf giants, dragons, golems, pekkas and hogs. However i don't think that it would be a significant nerf at all and as an attacker i would happily accept it in exchange for a more powerful defense against some of those high health troops that tank my xbows for days
(though admittedly my xbows are not level three). Lastly the increased damage would obviously have to go away upon a target change (including queen ability) or xbows would just start 1 shoting everything after a few minutes.
LEVEL 4-"CRYO-TOXIN"- (again replaced previous effect) At the moment the difference between lvl3 and 4 xbows is truly pitiful given the cost. That is the kind of damage upgrade i expect from an upgrade to level 3 giant for 250k not for my th10 defense that has cost tens of millions of hard earned gold pieces. This effect amount to more or less the same thing as the previous with the addition of some sort of "control effect". For instance every 25 shots the target is stunned for half a second or something or in the form of a increasing or constant slow effect.
I think these upgrades would serve to make the xbow a more powerful defense and give my fellow th9s something that could be truly feared like the inferno tower granted a town hall above us. I also think it would make the cost of the xbow, primarily the loading cost, which costs as much as a small army, to be worth it.
Other opinions are greatly appreciated, especially from people who have these higher level xbows (i have level 1 xbows but i based these opinions on the behalf of others who I know with high level xbows as as well as a statistical comparison with other defenses). I would also like to know what supercell has to say and if this is even possible within the game engine, if only out of curiosity.
