Same as always. Lab and all new structures to TH7 lvls first, followed by splash, point defenses, etc.
Not much you gain offensively other than lvl 5 troops. You do get a drill though even at lvl 3 (maxed for TH8) it isn't much....but I suppose every little bit helps.
Might also want to have a tesla going at all times as well if you can. They can be upgraded three times (to lvl 6 if you were maxed at lvl 3s for TH7). Teslas are also your highest single target defense structure maxed at TH8 and they have a pretty long upgrade time as well so I wouldn't wait to do them last.
All other defenses are mainly 2 lvl upgrades (cannons, arch towers, wiz towers), besides teslas as stated above going up 3 times. ADs and Mortars being the only things that go up once. TH8 is a pretty hellish TH and the lab is painfully longer to max than ever before.
Yep, hate to be a DD...but TH8 was hell for me. Gets much better when you are 9, like you felt when you were a TH6 going to 7.
This gives me hope. I'm a couple weeks away from maxing TH8, and I haven't really "suffered through" it. If TH9 is "much better," than woohoo!Quote:

Drill is OK, but it's not as good as 1 good DE raid per day. So I would build this with Builder #2 after your new structures are up to par.

9 is just so much better as you get another spell/more spells, more camp space, and upgradable CC for more war loot and space (can now hold a max golem in CC), Lvl 6 troops (Giants and Loons are monsters), witches, and most importantly, Queenie.
Lots of new toys to play with as a new TH9, and you finally have the army space/ability for creating diverse armies (because lets face it, all you really used as a TH8 was mass drag/hogs, with the occasional Wipe as a later hall 8 for war).
TH8 was so sufferable IMO because most all defenses go up 2-3 times each, you gain pretty much nothing offensively, and walls start getting hefty at 500k/each x 225. TH8 lab is also pretty much your longest lab to max more than any other TH. TH9 was nothing compared to TH8's lab.

getting tesla-wiz-mortar.
getting the third storages at least level 10 is also good.
for the lab. get archers then (giants or barchers) then dragon.
prepare ahead in getting elixir for the lab. so that it wont sleep. getting 3m elixir for dragon is pretty challenging. especially if you are just a casual player
dont worry about the dark troops yet. getting them to level 3 is nice too.
for the throphies. silver 1 to gold 2 is the suggested cup range.

I'm about to get to TH8 in a few hours. Have maxed out TH7 except for 2 gold mines and 2 elixir collectors (lvl10). I did enough raiding to get my king to lvl 5 already, and minions to level 2. I made the 'mistake' I guess by starting an upgrade of my hogs to lvl 2 yesterday since I didn't want my DE to get raided. My lab unfortunately will be tied up for 7 more days + 4 days to upgrade to lvl 6. SO I guess I'll be skipping out on a few wars until I can get some lvl 5 troops.
I'm debating on buying gems to get 5th builder. I'm hoping it will help a lot. I was quite shocked to see tesla's can be upgraded 3 more times for this TH, and they're not the cheapest thing... I think if I get the 5th builder I will keep one builder always upgrading a tesla, wiz tower, drill (till it's maxed), mortor, and air d. Maybe get alternate between air d and archer tower as I'll get one new one of each. Not sure what to do with all the elixir I have now since I've maxed out my storages in prep for the new TH.
When did you guys start upgrading dark troops and king? or am I good for a while?
Your upgrade plan sounds good. You can dump your extra elixir into walls, but make sure you have enough left over for wars or the next lab upgrade. Your lab should never idle at TH8 since it takes longer than all of the buildings to max out.Quote:
