This war base shreds lvl 4 dragon and lvl 6 balloon attacks and (obviously) stops hogs, but it has been 2-starred twice against golem based attacks now. Those teslas cooked the pekkas, but they just barely had enough to get the TH. Should I switch to a different war base? What is a good option now (other than going to Th10)?
There's really no way that any base can defend against every golem-based attack; a good attacker will exploit any weakness.
Yeah, you aren't stopping a strong Wipe or Wiwi period honestly.
If it's well executed and the attacker knows what they're doing those are pretty much guaranteed 2 stars on any TH9, maxed or otherwise.
Higher walls/layers just means they bring more breakers to get into the core, or a jump if needed so...yep.
Also, I'm sure an experienced hogger could do well on your base by simply expending a few hogs on outer ring to test for traps. The core is good as the teslas, xbows, and royals will make short work of weakened hogs if they are out of heals though.
Agreed. Attacker in clan wars has the advantage. I try to limit the average attackers to a 0 or 1 star and hold the good attackers to a 2 star and live with it.
in clan wars its hard to stop em , but in normal mode you can , cuz in war mode they can use fake attacks "sandbox mode" and try many times and look for best way to attack :) hope i helped

A good portion of top clans do it as well I'm sure. I know of at least 2-3 with a bad reputation...but there are those few top clans that actually do try to play fair.

Even max TH10s can be 2 starred by a smart and high level Gowipe/gowiwi raid, so really no hope there. You are doing the best you can as a TH9 already
There's almost no stopping GoWiWi or GoWiPe, the best you can do is protect youself from 3 stars and other types of attacks
Every base has a weakness and strengths. If you adjust your base to adapt/defend against golem-based attacks, then you will be weak against other attacks (like what you mentioned earlier etc. hogs, dragons etc.). if you insist in doing so, Golem based attacks has lot of wallbreakers, so you might need to spread your Teslas (to surprise the wallbreakers) and increase wall layers.
If you would like you can check out the Jellyfish base thats in my signature. Been pretty successful, although my new th10 version, the Metroid, is even more effective :)
I have been seeing bases like this and it looks like it would give golems problems. I think the golems would walk all the way around the spikes and go after defenses in other outer pockets instead of going toward the core. I am not sure why the holes in the walls are there though since golems aren't affected by spring traps. Would this be better than my current base?

This base is very weak against GoWiPe. Not protecting your towers with walls is a very bad idea if you want to defend against GoWiPe.Quote:
