I commonly use this and have ever since th 7, and once your gob hits level 4 and especially 5 it is very useful and very effective (and cheap)
I am currrently th8 and almost finished maxing out, this has been the only army composition ive used out of war
this army is not intended for trophies but you CAN pull off some surprising wins with it
additionally, as always with hunting loot, go for profit, this army costs less than 50k to make but more towrds 30-40k its best to just go for 100k+ on both but i always shoot for atleast 75k elixer and atleast 50k gold if im just not in the mood to next all day
you will need at least level 7 barracks for this to be consistent for training time
just keep that in mind
but regardless the army and planning remain the same

6 giant 6 wb 8 gob
barrack 2 50 gob
barrack 3 50 gob
barrack 4 50 archers
dark barracks (you may use a hog or 2 as giant sub to save elixer or a few valk instead of archers but the core army is the same intention)
Having a BK greatly increases this armies power too but isnt neccasary for this to work
Spell factory : if you just want gold, you can bring a rage with you, but i dont bring spells
why this set up?
goblins are extremely under estimated, they actually do way more damage than a barb and are extremely fast, they can rip through anything as a swarm way faster than their other tier 1 companions but are bound by resources, but.. you WANT these resources, so why not beeline for them, doing more damage than any other tier 1 troop along the way, and once you get there, be gone as fast as you get there, potentially avoiding any mortars and most traps that might try to stop you, unless theres an obvious spring and bomb field in the middle of a whole bunch of storages
choice of target is up to you, but i always go for something that obviously doesnt have traps near the storages
you want to be in silver league or low gold league for this, unless you have level 6 troops.. in which case.. get out of silver.. theres no reason a th 9 should be there if you maxed th before leaving th 8
ok how to make this work the best you can. heres a bit of my mental process when hunting with this army and then my attack based off of what i see
1 are the collectors full and out of the walls?
a yes - circle the base with gobs after droppping giants and archers, they will eventually group up, which then you want to make some holes for the guys
b no - then worry about the storages more
2 are wizards right next to the storages?
a. yes - use caution, but aim for the wizards with the giants as much as possible, then swarm gobs do NOT swarm giants just 1 at a time til you break through with wb, then which you want to use archers to back up giants and maybe distract and or destroy other defenses to help out gobs (especially mortars but your hope is to outrun those)
b.no theyre on the edges of the base - use giant to distract, archer to destroy, if desperate get to it with giant by dropping wb, but the point of the wb for this army is to leave the least amount of wall between your gobs and their precious target
c the newb th rusher doesnt even have them - ATTACK with all your goblin fury! but try to take out the mortars (and im dead serious, ive ran into th10s that didnt have wiz towers and had stone walls...)
2 did my giant set off a cc?
a yes - one by one drop archer in corner to lure, and then ambush the poor sods, (which is why i started using more than 20 archers with this army)
b no - proceed
3 its going badly, now what?
a. cut your losses... or...
b full force strike, drop all the giants on the least defended side, drop wb 1 by 1 (good time to use rage if you have it, the wb will decimate walls with rage, 2 level 4 for a crystal wall? nope, now just 1, you can get deep into the base with this and then drop all your gobs and hope they make it) and then deply your gobs in one big swarm, then follow with left over archers
4. well that didnt work....
a. told you youd take losses with this army, but i almost can 100% guarantee you that you can make a TON of profit with it and a good bit of bases these buggers will 1-2 star no problem. they are very strong, just takes skill to fully utilize them
b some considerations at all times, check the amount of compartments you have to fight through, check the level of the wizard towers and mortars (high level mortars will destory your gobs if hit anyways (lower ones you get 2 shots) but the level determines your giants chances of surviving the assault as well), always.. be sure the loot is mostly in storages before wasting your whole army rushing, check to see if you see the bottom of elixer collectors if you see elixer in it, thats a sign to attack collectors first, (mines have a similar feature with the cart, but not as accurate)
and one alternative, although you have to take much longer to check the bases for openings, bring about 10 wb and 1 or 2 giant to let the wb in, and the rest goblins, its more of a gamble, but fun to try and get good loot with
