i believe its GC's problem, not the game problem. im getting this as well.
Whenever I clear the cache, for the next little while only my GC friends do not show a picture or a name. My FB friends show. So I also believe that it is a GC problem with the IOS update.
happened to me today for the first time ever too
Its been happening alot to me. 3 days in a row and counting.:( Off to play guess the neighbor. Lol
I am also finding that I'm having problems with GC friends. I can still access their farms but none of their info loads eg pics, names etc. I think this has been a regular prob for me since iOS 8 came out but not sure if you can fix this but it's extremely frustrating. Every time I see an update, I'm hoping it will fix this but still no change. :(
