Moving to TH8 without maxing TH7...Any tips or suggestions?

Dragons are still your power army at early th 8. The sooner you can get them to lvl 3, the better. Lvl 5 is also where balloons start to be useful.

Thanks for reply. First comment that actually suggest something constructive to me. I am active, started the game on July 27 this year so u can see how active I am. Never let builder sleeps lolz. Honestly my only regret is BK, should have taken it to LVL 5.

My plan is that I am storing resources at the moment so as soon as I hit TH8 I will be putting Lab, CC, Spell factory on a upgrade, 4th builder on DE drill and 5th one set walls for new layout and then new wiz tower etc.

Further, I have been using The Mantis on TH7, served me so well that i am thinking to get to The Tempest for TH8 or anyone of you know a better base design for TH8? Please let me know.

I rushed from TH6, straight to TH8 and now i'm an end TH8, just missing a few skull walls and really few troop upgrades now, so i can tell you about my experience about it:

- Max out everything at TH8 - you'll regret if you jump to TH9 too soon, because it won't be the same as rushing to TH8.
- Be prepared to spend around 6 months, upgrading everything from TH7 and TH8 (TH8 is by far, the longest Town Hall to upgrade and the best place to be, due to the low loot penalty)

Initial Upgrades:

- Start upgrading your dark elixir pump immediately to level 3
- Get your king (if you haven't done so)
- Upgrade your hidden teslas from start, 1 level in between your other upgrades (this requires you around 33 million gold to max out!)
- Upgrade 1 wall block in between your normal base upgrades to skull (don't skip this!)

Normal Base upgrades (while doing the above):

- Upgrade your army camps so to be able to have a 200 army composition.
- upgrade your spells factory and get 3 spells (if you haven't already done so)
- Start upgrading your wizard towers at start - this are the most important upgrades that you want to sort out from start
- Upgrade your archer towers after the wiz towers are done
- mortars
- giant bombs
- cannons
- ...

Troop Upgrades:

- Start by upgrading your archers and barbs (if you use a barch strat to raid)
- giants and healers
- start thinking about upgrading your hogs and dragons (for clan wars)

later upgrades:

- upgrade your wizards
- upgrade your pekkas
- get golems (for GoWiPe - clan wars)
- upgrade your king to level 10
- upgrade your balloons (for advanced attack strategies, which start at TH9).


That's about it.

- Get your king (if you haven't done so) - Already have him hopefully will get it to lvl 5 asap.
- Upgrade your hidden teslas from start, 1 level in between your other upgrades (this requires you around 33 million gold to max out!) - Thats a pain lolz but yea have to do it :D its at lvl 1 so yea need to give it one builder non stop to cover the gap.
- Upgrade 1 wall block in between your normal base upgrades - Great Idea, will do.

Normal Base upgrades (while doing the above):

- Upgrade your army camps so to be able to have a 200 army composition. - Already Max
- upgrade your spells factory and get 3 spells (if you haven't already done so) - Already have 3 spells, will go for 4th first thing.

I'd say the walls take a higher priority than anything else from a loot penalty perspective as walls represent the largest sink of wealth in the game. I think discounting them, as many people do, is a huge mistake. Nothing else really costs much in comparison.

You'll be a weak 8. Consider that lab and first troop upgrade will set you back 4 mil in elixir, adding your new buildings and walls upgrading them to TH7 levels PLUS mortars and wiz towers ( not to mention you should immediately dedicate one builder to Teslas)...you're gonna burn close to 6 mil in both gold and elixir. THAT'S to get you to a Beginning TH8.

Not maxing your 7 and filling storages before going to TH8 is a mistake. Why make a difficult TH more difficult?

Yeah, to be honest I almost got burnt out on CoC as a TH8. It was boring, tedious, and not much fun really. Will take you 4+ months to max min IMO (more if you don't max 7) so I don't see the use of being antsy to get to TH8. You will be there a good while and the farming only gets worse.

TH9, now that's a different story. The offensive/defensive benefits are huge. I felt like I was TH6 going up to TH7 once again :cool:.

Offensively: Sooo...lvl 5 barch is amazing compared to lvl 4. Lvl 3 dragons are awesome in clan wars. Lvl 10 BK is a lot better than 5. Golems are awesome...

Defensively: 3rd Air defense is very important and the 2 or 3 extra levels you can upgrade defenses will keep the TH7s away and make loot a lot more defendable against higher levels. At TH7 you are in danger of being barched for 100%.

So yeah...I totally disagree with everything you said :)

Thanks for the suggestion. The only thing left except walls are Tesla.. so yes one builder dedicated for it surely. 4 builders are on to other pending stuff like storages and AD, 5th one on TH. All completing couple of hours before TH upgrade ends. So I will have all 5 builders free and 4 million each reso to burn up front once I hit TH8. So I am hoping I should at least gets some sort of going for the first week.

Now the thing which really bothering me is as to how much loot penalty kicks in. I am in silver one and no plans to go up unless it's absolutely necessary.

Honestly lvl 5 BARCH/G-Barch AND lvl 3 Dragon were main attraction why I decided to move to TH8 early.

You don't have to worry about loot penalty as a TH8, you can still accidentally three star TH7 with barch, and TH7 are the best to steal from with only two storages of each type
