Moving to TH8 without maxing TH7...Any tips or suggestions?

I read so much about maxing before upgrading TH so thought i should ask u all here. Well honestly I got bored while maxing and decided to move to TH8. I have almost max def (1 AD is at lvl 4) and troops. 60% walls maxed. Bombs, tesla and 2 of the baracks are not max. Builder are on few stuff and will be done before TH gets to 8. I never paid any attentions to collectors since I live on loots. So what awaits me at TH8? Good decision or should have maxed it?

i always advocate not maxing th7, as when i was th8, i 100%ed all th7s for whatever loot they were saving up (and i saw a LOT of almost-max th7s saving up loot for whatever reason). as well, having idle builders means wasted time to me (time they could have spent building something). the extra walls and defenses make it EXTRA harder for any th8 or below to get through your base, heck, even some bad th9 and 10s probably can't either.

i do recommend maxing your collectors, they do help a lot in the long run... i mean, if you have idle builders, why not? always maximize your builders efficiency.

If you can't be bothered to max TH7 you are fighting a losing battle as TH8 was basically one boring hellish TH.

One, you really don't get anything all that much better offensively at TH8 (no more camp space, no more spells, no hero)...basically just new lvl 5 troop upgrades, and golems and valks (which really don't do that much for you as a TH8 imo as they are later troop upgrades and still not that effective at hall 8).

Two, yes you get more defenses...but the defensive upgrades take forever. Most of them can be upgraded twice (cannons, archer towers, and wiz towers) with teslas going up three times. That's the first time since previous town halls. Walls also start getting hefty at 500K/each x 225.

The lab is also probably the longest of any TH, taking significantly more time to max than ever before.

Yeah, to be honest I almost got burnt out on CoC as a TH8. It was boring, tedious, and not much fun really. Will take you 4+ months to max min IMO (more if you don't max 7) so I don't see the use of being antsy to get to TH8. You will be there a good while and the farming only gets worse.

TH9, now that's a different story. The offensive/defensive benefits are huge. I felt like I was TH6 going up to TH7 once again :cool:.

I rushed TH8 and it actually wasn't too bad. Not sure if i'd recommend it but it can be done. My main reason for rushing was those level 5 wizards, they get a huge buff and I don't like using dragons so I didn't have much research left to do at TH7.

The first couple weeks are can be rough while you are trying to get your level 5 barbs/archers/etc and upgrading some of your new defenses.

However, I was able to recover and I think I ended up saving some time by rushing to TH8. I'm currently almost a maxed TH8 with just a few more defenses to max.

I do not recommend ever rushing from TH8 to TH9. Definitely spend a solid amount of time at TH8 maxing all your splash first and then point defense. Tesla's are good to start early if you can along with air defense (full drags is popular at TH8).

Cancel the th upgrade and max ur th7.

This for sure, you don't gain much offensively going to 8. Nothing at all like going to 7 or going to 9

Guys, Did u all noticed that my base is 95% max on troops/def wise and 60% wall wise. It's not that I left it half baked! Lolz don't scare me with this sort of comments

I maxed out my TH7. Now I'm not facing much trouble in TH8, I can concentrate on upgrading My elixir troops to level 5 and upgrade my newly constructed defences. My friend who hadn't maxed TH7 came to TH8 earlier than me but now he's facing some problems.
His BK is only lv3 and TH7's are raiding him and not letting him go for BK lv 4. He can raid them back but there's a loot penalty (so very high) and he doesn't have proper troops for revenges.

Finally, I would like to say that upgrading your Dark Troops isn't compulsory but try and upgrade your walls; and your BK to lv 5.

Better try to max out your TH7 :) !

Going to th 8 in your situation looks sensible to me, although having the BK at lvl 5 would have been smartest. It does start to be more of a grind at th 8, and loot penalty starts to hurt a bit.

What you can expect:

Dragons are still your power army at early th 8. The sooner you can get them to lvl 3, the better. Lvl 5 is also where balloons start to be useful.

Gowipe is feasible from mid th 8, and is often good for 2-starring bases, where your dragons can only get you one star. Gowipe with lvl 1 golems, lvl 1 pekkas, and lvl 4 wizards actually works, but lvl 5 wizards are recommended, and upgrading the others is a good idea too.

Hogs is an option too, but probably a bit more of a joker.

It's probably a good idea to slowly start on the collectors as well. Build times and cost goes up on everything, so the benefit of maxed collectors gets higher.

As others have noted there isn't that much of an offensive boost at th 8. That comes at th 9. For that reason it can be tempting to rush into th 9 early. Don't. Early th 9 is really rough, and you need to have most of your defenses updgraded first (unless you are a _very_ active player).
