I'm always "wondering" something lol. But ummm.... I personally have no fear of xbows on this game. They don't seem to hurt me as much. I'm "wondering" if anyone else will not a skip a match based off xbows...
Things that will make me skip:
level 6+ wizard towers
level 7 mortars
level 15+ heroes
Level 10 walls
Well placed Level 5 clan castle (without lightning)
for me x-bows mean I have to change my approach dramatically, i like to take my time with bases, think it out a bit, pick off the outer buildings and then in for the loot, but these firehoses of death mean speed is of the essence.
I've had a LOT of 30 second raids against xbows, usually ending up at 25% but hopefully with cash in hand....rage helps if it's worth it.
I like to do all archer and barb attacks but if I'm in like the 2000s I normally have some giants to soak of up the damage. Only thing i don't like about xbows is I have to use all my troops everytime. I try to do some lazy farming but xbows do mess that up.Quote:

I personally have a lot of respect for bases with xbows. I realize that in order to be successful against a base that has them, I have to get in there and get the resources within 30seconds to a minute after I start my main assault. Bases with centrally located xbows and segmented storage are right out for me.
High level heroes aren't a problem for me and I never see level 10 walls. I always skip bases with level 7 mortars. High level wizard towers guarding storages are also a skip for me. Centrally located CC isn't necessarily a problem unless it is combined with segmented storages and other high level defenses.
If I see 600k total loot but the guy has 1 X-bow, I press next fairly quickly
crossbows frighten me b/c i am lvl 46 as u are prob much higher...
Unless i can get 100k+ of each resource really easily, ill skip
This predominately lazy farmer avoids xbows most of the time. I tell myself that there is an easier battle out there somewhere...and usually there is. That's the nice thing about being a TH8 still.
Im lvl 64 lvl 4/5 army TH8. I seem to struggle vs a xbow tend to skip them, if you have some uber strat vs them plz do share :). stuff to avoid imo is a base that has defenses that outmatch your army lvl.

PHI have a hard time with leveled up heroes because I try to sneak around them lol. Alot of times I end battling a hero near mortars because i don't have the patience to lure the heroes out to fair ground.

I do tend to attack some of the tough as nails bases once in a while, just when I want to try different tactics and I know I could get away with at least some gold. Doesn't happen all the time and I would probably end up in a "failed attack" thread, but gotta have some fun!
My current farming setup:
8 Giants
8 WB
50 Gobs
64 Archers
40-50 Barbs (depending on whether I have few minions or not)
Xbows can be painful, but even you can face off a level 3 in a good position... If it is not loaded.:)

I'm Only TH8 with all troop upgraded to lvl5 and only go for TH9 with xbow if there is tonne of dark Elixir and gold to loot otherwise I hit the next button.
Also I'm really cautious when attacking TH8 with splash defense like Mortar lvl6+ or Wiz Tower lvl5+ like mine because they are deadly especially if position well together.

I can get into X-bow bases as long as the rest of the base is weak. I love picking off prems, but if they have x-bow and pink or up walls/high level defences I normally skip. Speed is of the essence really, as has already been said. My attack normally goes giants, barbarians, WallBreakers, archers, goblins, all in the same place in quick succesion. Then I have giants as a teensy bit of shield, and once the giants are dead my tier one troops are normally right up there swamping them. It's kinda like sending in tanks in front of infantry into machine gun fire, it's fast, it has a massive casualty rate, but hopefully you have achieved something.
It's because they have so many damn hp, takes forever to kill them. But I farm them regularly. Get them trained on a giant with a healer and you're golden.
That and they don't "waste" damage. A level 3 xbow does 75 dps, but fires extremely rapidly with each shot doing a small amount of damage. This leads to little waste. Other defenses don't behave this way.Quote:

So far, I've seen a few strategies with xbows:
1- xbow level 1: 4 lightning spells. (I'm TH7, so I've never done this personally, but seen it in videos)
2- xbow level 1 or 2: 4 giants as tanks + archers +wbs to cleanup an acces to the xbow. Then mass giants and archers to finish the xbow. Even though a healer is useless against an xbow, mortars will fire on the giants attacking the xbow. So a healer sometimes helps =)
3- Fast rush, like Daddy wrote. Usually 30-second attacks on exposed storages.
4- xbow level 3: Rarely see them, but when I do, I next (again, my giants are lvl 4)
I attack level 1 xbow but only 1 xbow they rip through my troops

I attack x-bows quite a bit under certain circumstances:
1) The x-bow is empty, you can tell if it has no elixer!!!
2) premature th9, but with xbows. low level walls. If I thing I can do a quick rush for profit I'm in.
3) Bad design: if the storages are near the outer wall and I know I can pick them off for a profit, I'm in.
4) Lots of loot in collectors and mines. If I know I can pick these off for a profit then I'm in.
For the most part tho I tend to skip most th9s because I'm th8 and I have all the tiome in the world to deal with th9s later. Right now I have to take advantage of the fact I'm th8. :cool:
Chinobeer stole my thunder! Love attacking x-bows especially when they are empty, but seriously I'll skip most of them unless the loot is crazy good. Generally there are is going to be a better target to attack.

I actually have a maxed TH8 (almost). I would have upgraded to TH9 if it werent for this last update. Now I want to max out my new AD before going. No rush I guess. Now I'll max out my DE barracks, mines and collectors, and as much walls as I can while I'm at it....

Like most of the TH8's here, I skip them or the loot must be really great.
There are always easier towns to raid.
Most times I run without giants so then its out of the question any way.
Most villages have their X-bow set to ground targets only, and with an airborne army, my balloons make quick work out of it. What really makes me skip a village are maxed out Wizard Towers, or a well positioned Archer Queen. Those can be deadly.
I tend to skip X-bows and level 8 walls, unless i can nearly guarantee a good raid.
I dont carry the right troops to deal with xbows, 50 goblins, 5 wbs and rest archers. I just found one with 2 empty X-bows so i took the lot.
If I "fear" them?....
Yesterday I had a raid... (I usually go with 15 giants, 10-15 barbs, archer gobs and wallbreaker) which, after clearing the buildings outside without any interference from any def buildings I blew up the wall. There was I think, a cannon, an archer tower and an x-bow (lvl 2 probably). That single X-bow very much destroyed the giants (which were dropped in small groups to not waste giants on the mortar fire).
X-Bows are such a strong defense (as they are usually deep inside and have huge attack radius).... that the additional wizard tower seems like a complete joke.
I don't fear them.... I just don't like them at all.
L3 X bows are no fun to come up against. Unless the base is rubbish or there is 100k+ in pumps, why bother? There are easier fights for us farmers ;-)
In all honesty, with enough gold, there is however no base i'd skip...some i will just need 200k all in storage, others i'd be looking for a good deal in mines and pumps as well (300k+ fights). I have no problem wasting my 20 minute army, losing 30+ trophies and making the trophy hunter smile in the process if I actually walk away with 200k of their gold or more...1k or so of DE is a nice bonus if its on offer :D
On the positive, having L3 Xbows is so much fun. Mine took out 10 WBs in a recent attack...there was then no way for the dude to get past my L8 / 9 walls. I almost felt his shoulders slum as the last WBs fell short of its target. To be fair, he still tried it on and the result makes for a funny replay! One of the few where my base wins!
My league stats are 102-2...hmmm, do you think I am a farmer?? lol

Sometimes I hesitate when there are 2 xbows, but if there is 1 I don't worry.
Things I'm scared of:
Mortar L7
Wizard L6 or higher
All skull walls
2 xbows L1 or higher
For Me Xbows don't Scare me this does though.
Level 5+ Motar and wizard Tower
Level 3+ CC that is centralized
Level 9 and 10 Walls.
That's it
Oh, and skinny clowns scare me. Im cool with the fat ones, but the skinny ones...they are not to be messed with....I keep thinking they will tell me that I float....Stephen King's IT stylie!! eeeeewww
That ghost in the library in the first Ghostbusters movie always scared me, at least when I was a kid.
As Daddy said, villages with xbows force me to play outside my confort zone. Combined with traps and teslas, they can ruin a attack plan beyond salvage.
My attempts on xbow weilding villages always end up badly. Only 20% succes i'd say. But sometimes the loot is so tempting i just deploy troops n hope for the best.
love your fear of x-boxs cause im getting mine today after 7 long days.. time to see what the fuss is all about :-)
but generally i do avoid solid TH9's with well placed x-box ..they destroy my goblins ..its like the goblins disappear into a hole while running towards the loot :P
