I tend to skip X-bows and level 8 walls, unless i can nearly guarantee a good raid.
I dont carry the right troops to deal with xbows, 50 goblins, 5 wbs and rest archers. I just found one with 2 empty X-bows so i took the lot.

If I "fear" them?....
Yesterday I had a raid... (I usually go with 15 giants, 10-15 barbs, archer gobs and wallbreaker) which, after clearing the buildings outside without any interference from any def buildings I blew up the wall. There was I think, a cannon, an archer tower and an x-bow (lvl 2 probably). That single X-bow very much destroyed the giants (which were dropped in small groups to not waste giants on the mortar fire).
X-Bows are such a strong defense (as they are usually deep inside and have huge attack radius).... that the additional wizard tower seems like a complete joke.
I don't fear them.... I just don't like them at all.
L3 X bows are no fun to come up against. Unless the base is rubbish or there is 100k+ in pumps, why bother? There are easier fights for us farmers ;-)
In all honesty, with enough gold, there is however no base i'd skip...some i will just need 200k all in storage, others i'd be looking for a good deal in mines and pumps as well (300k+ fights). I have no problem wasting my 20 minute army, losing 30+ trophies and making the trophy hunter smile in the process if I actually walk away with 200k of their gold or more...1k or so of DE is a nice bonus if its on offer :D
On the positive, having L3 Xbows is so much fun. Mine took out 10 WBs in a recent attack...there was then no way for the dude to get past my L8 / 9 walls. I almost felt his shoulders slum as the last WBs fell short of its target. To be fair, he still tried it on and the result makes for a funny replay! One of the few where my base wins!
My league stats are 102-2...hmmm, do you think I am a farmer?? lol

Sometimes I hesitate when there are 2 xbows, but if there is 1 I don't worry.
Things I'm scared of:
Mortar L7
Wizard L6 or higher
All skull walls
2 xbows L1 or higher
For Me Xbows don't Scare me this does though.
Level 5+ Motar and wizard Tower
Level 3+ CC that is centralized
Level 9 and 10 Walls.
That's it
Oh, and skinny clowns scare me. Im cool with the fat ones, but the skinny ones...they are not to be messed with....I keep thinking they will tell me that I float....Stephen King's IT stylie!! eeeeewww
That ghost in the library in the first Ghostbusters movie always scared me, at least when I was a kid.
As Daddy said, villages with xbows force me to play outside my confort zone. Combined with traps and teslas, they can ruin a attack plan beyond salvage.
My attempts on xbow weilding villages always end up badly. Only 20% succes i'd say. But sometimes the loot is so tempting i just deploy troops n hope for the best.
love your fear of x-boxs cause im getting mine today after 7 long days.. time to see what the fuss is all about :-)
but generally i do avoid solid TH9's with well placed x-box ..they destroy my goblins ..its like the goblins disappear into a hole while running towards the loot :P
