Okay, welcome to my thread of raiding tutorial vids people :)

Take note that as a farmer, I really emphasize the need to train your skills in using purely your 200/220 Army + CC Troops, THATS ALL.
Over-reliance on Heroes or Spell is not the way of a farmer.

There are basically 3 Farming setup I would recommend
1) Barb/Arch/Gob/Giant/WB: This should be your staple setup against a wide variety of base.
Again, you can tweak the ratio based on your own preference, but I personally prefer more Archers to clear compartments due to the new WB, but yeah, these are my recommended ratio.
1A) 40 Barb/60 Arch/40 Gob/8 Giant/10 WB: For low trophy around 1200~1600
1B) 30 Barb/60 Arch/30 Gob/12 Giants/10 WB: For higher trophy, around 1700+

2) Barb/Arch/WB: This is when you are say, running 3 barracks, and looking for quick, efficient and cheap troop combo.
I personally love to carry 10 WB, its like the norm for me, but you can vary depending on your preference.

3) Gob/Wb: Very awesome combo for lazy farming. But make sure not to lazy farm until you are out of the "farming trophy range"

Useful addition to your army:
A) 1 Wiz: Mainly to utilise its new splash damage, its pretty good against 1hko CC reinforcements.
B) 5~10 Minions: You never know at times, where there is a blind spot in the enemy defense, where a single minion can actually wipe out the entire gold storage like in this picture below.

But yeah, lets get started:
30 Barb/60 Arch/30 Gob/12 Giant/10 WB, raiding at 1600+ trophy range.

Points to note:

1. Always always try to lure the CC troops. It might seem unlurable at first, but somehow, its possible if you look carefully.
2. Learn to sprinkle infantry down to set up traps/bombs prior to setting down your precious giants.
3. WB wise, always deploy after deploying your distractions. And remember to aim at intersection if possible !
   Take note of the increase WB radius, so even T junction with offset of 1 wall can be blast open if aimed properly.
   And send them 1 by 1, because if your first 1 miss, you only wasted 1, not 2 wb.
4. Do NOT spam troops. Send them in waves.
5. And remember to save some troops if possible, to clear out remaining mines if needed.
   
   This SHOULD be your staple farming Army, that can handle a wide variety of bases.
   
   Tips: Queue the troops you will use most first.
   Meaning Archers/Gobs > barb > giant.
   I queue archers first as I can use them for both lazy farming and donations.
   Up next is goblins because I use them next for lazy farming.
   then barb as I would tend to use barbs first, if its enough for a smaller base.
   Giants wise, I try not to use them for weak base as they take 2 mins to make.

Hmm... Nice and I find that doing one rack barb, one rackgob, two racks archers, the odd one or two minions, and 5 wbs works rly well:o

I loot around 1.5-2 million an hour and I have two racks gobs one rack barbs and one rack archers plus 4 wallbreakers. It works for me.

Normally, i would skip those pesky TH9 w XBow.
But seems like your Giants absorb well the damage.

Perhaps i might now farm using some Gs instead.

barb/arch/gob/wb combo wise, I wouldn't recommend it as its really vulnerable against bases with high level, centralised splash towers.
5 barbs is just 20 seconds faster than 1 giant.

Barb VS Giants for meat shield wise, Illustris gave a fine view here

Nice, lv3. Mine still Lv1 haha, will be upgrading them once my BK hits Lv10, which is like next week I think.
But yeah, they are certainly awesome, even a mere 5 minion can certainly diversify your army.
They are what I call "value-added troops" haha.
Similarly with wiz against CC Reinforcements.

However, i disagree with your advise to minimize usage of spells. I'd say one should use spells wisely, and it's not difficult to factor in the cost of spells required when u evaluate a base for lootable resources.

Sometimes, the non-willingness to take out a mortar with double lightning could be the difference between a failed and succesful raid.

Definitely agree with you on this.

As long as one accounts for the cost of a single rage spell, or dual light spell, it certainly opens up your army to a wider variety of bases to tackle.

But personally, I would just be patient, and a few clicking of next later, I will have a base where I can handle without the need for a spell, effectively saving me the potential cost of 44k gold(dual lv5 light/lv5 Rage spell).

So if you are fighting bases that requires a spell or 2 quite regularly, maybe you should consider lowering your trophy to a more comfortable farming range where you do not need to spend 44k on spell every 2-3 raids.

Great videos Jun. Yours are the only ones I will watch more than once as the precision of your raids is something I currently lack.

I am new to TH8 so am having to attack other TH8s and good 7s for loot (not finding much in lower levels now) but am sometimes struggling to take every resource. Sometimes I only get half due to all the heavy segmentation these days. As I am new to the TH level I only have level 4 troops. How much of a difference do level 5 troops make? I am researching archers at the moment but as they still get 1 shotted by high level mortars is the difference noticeable when raiding?

Lv5 archers are sooo much better than lv4:D I had to raid for 10 days at TH8 before I could get lv5 archers:(
There were so many bases with just lv4 mortars and I couldn't do much since my army kept getting one-shotted.

Lately i have been Farming Mainly maxed TH9 farmers and a rage spell is acceptable if you ask me...

Cool tips Jun. About minions, I always have 20minions in my camp, and don't use them most of the time except in cases where I have left considerable loot in storages/collectors and there are hardly any air defenders left. What's better though is it makes my camp full faster because I only have to wait for my barbs and archies to fill 160 camp spaces. Quite useful when I close CoC and go to the forum and get that notification that my camp is full and tis time to raid again.

Thats 40 housing space :)
Judging by your ratio, you should be upgrading them if you feel that you use them alot haha.

Definitely, the first 1-2 week of th8 was really bad. I didn't even dare to post raiding vids at the start haha ! Lv4 troops at TH8 was definitely a horrible feeling.

Lv5 troops definitely makes a huge difference as what pinser said.
Certain towers require higher level to 1hko you.
And don't look down on the slight increase in dps. Multiple that by the amount of troops you have and viola, its a big improvement indeed.

Getting 1 shot by mortar wise, play around more with tankers like giants.
And try not to spam troops from a single spot, send in waves to prevent bunching up.

Good luck, You will get the hang of it :)

Definitely not lol.

Spawning in that area is really suicidal if you ask me.. even if you are darn close to the storage..

Its like the art of war..
We have a front line, and we push forward from there, conquering land and building as we progress.
Thus our enemy are just right infront of us.

But deploying over there, enemy will be infront, behind, left right up down centre everywhere LOL.

And don't forget we are running a farming army, with majority of our troops being infantry, and vulnerable to huge splash attacks.

Thats the reason why i didn't spawn there until I have "Conquered" that land, where enemies are only infront of me.
Not beside, not behind, but only infront of me :)

But I kinda regret not deploying a single troop in that spawn to show you guys that its always nice to "double confirm" what is inside the trap.
Who knows, I might be able to detonate 2 giant bombs with 2 troops.

Tackling dual xbow bases is certainly a challenge since my giants just simply dies soooo fast >.<

The one thing I have learnt from watching your vids was the deployment of the Giants. My current army is very similar to yours with a few less barbs and a few more archers. I had tended to deploy my giants all at the same time (but not in the same spot) but now use then a few at a time. Saving a few for that final goblin rush is a must IMO as buying those extra few seconds makes the difference in taking a storage down or not. I am still messing up a few raids but slowly but surely my fails are getting less frequent.

You really good player jun. feel like I wanna flight to Singapore and ask you for teaching become a good farmer.Lol. Just one and half hour to Singapore from here.

I said I would give it another try and I did it.

Of course I started quite bad.. But since I can attack more often, I've been practicing and improving the way I use this strategy.

Just got a nice 390k gold + 290k elixir using this strategy. The base was far from a great challenge, but Im confident that in a couple more days I'll be raiding hard bases with no fear.

You gotta think ahead every single troop deployment so its accurate and hit the right spot. Something that I'm still getting myself used to.

Question regarding WB ai, will a WB choose a different wall to blow up if the building in the compartment dies before the WB reaches the wall?

Sometimes I deploy them too quickly before my archers have completely destroyed a building and it still targets an empty compartment. Guess I need to be more patient?

No they wont.
They will change wall, only if the wall they are targeting disappears.

Yup, sometimes, even deploying during the split second the building is destroy is too early haha.

I learn from mistake and deploy say 1 second after the building is down :)
