...because I'd like to make the Valkyrie part of my go-to rotation in wars, and farming when I need to, with my max'd TH 8 account.
How does this update affect the use of Valks? Increases effectiveness of Valks? Nerfed? No change? Any Valk strategies this update enhanced?
Valks are mostly ignored in recent updates neither nerfed or buffed
I believe you can use wall breakers to bust open the core (it is easier) and quad quake open the back side to open a path for your valks to go the back side defenses...best part is you can still have a heal and rage while having 4EQ....I believed the dark spell donation buffed up th8 gowipe then so is GoWiVa

I can't speak for valks at TH10, but I believe that rage is almost never the right answer for valks at TH9. Think of it it terms of DPS in/DPS out and the HP of your valks coming out of the spell area. If different valks are tanking different single target towers, which is likely to be the case, under heal spells they'll all come out of the spell at about 100% health.. whereas they'll come out of a rage quicker but still have lost all of the damage suffered while in the spell area.
Generally, I like to open with my golems/wizards into the first layer (using wallbreakers here), then jump to the core and heal my valks at the back half of the core, jump out of the core, then heal them again as my backend troops come for the remaining defenses. Relying on wallbreakers for the second layer is way too risky when I know I can control their pathing perfectly with jumps and get them into 2-3 other compartments as well.
Infernos at TH10 necessitate rage/freeze since they can't be healed under infernos, of course.

For what it's worth, here's a TH9 that one of my clan members 3 starred last war with level 3 valks. The only defensive structure not maxed was a level 2 xbow and the defender had significantly higher hero levels and this was only our attacker's second attack with valks and he screwed up the jump into the core.. but even with this amount of firepower concentrated on his valks, with two heal spells level 3 valks were enough to get the three star. A rage in that core might be tempting to clear it faster, but then the remaining defenses would have picked off the valks and he would have ran out of steam for a high percentage two star.
Obviously, this isn't an effective base design, but what it does very well is maximize the amount of damage going into the core.. and two heals/two jumps with not even max valks made it through the core with plenty of energy left.
Yeah, I tend to agree with this. Strangely enough, I was able to pull off a rage/heal valk 3* just this morning and I have to say, there is little as satisfying as raged valks... :)
If I was going to pick between heal or rage, totally agree that I'd go heal. But, if you can, rage/heal combo is one of the most brutal, destructive combos to watch in CoC. :D
Oh I know it's fun to watch, my experience with valks is just that walls are their mortal enemies and most of the time I'd rather have an extra jump. Or keep them under heals the entire time. But yeah, get a group of raged valks and they're an amazing tornado.
First world problem of no use for de led me to start using GoViz to 'farm' big bases for big loot, currently in champs 2 and was just wondering if any th11 have experience using/best time for wardens ability (mine not lv5 yet)? His aura has boosted survivability of valks noticeably already and they are great for nailing those Eagles before they can get off too many volleys of death so valks have increased in usability for me anyway with the update. (Would love lv5 sometime soon tho ♥♥♥♥♥♥cell...)
Really for me it depends on the attack but if they are about to take a large amount of damage from multiple things and freeze wont cut it ill use the abilities. Ive started playing around with gowiva with I usually save his ability for the witches since they are more vulnerable.

It's quite good for getting those stars and I'm finding I am hitting 70% a lot more so getting the full loot bonus compared to healer giant attacks.
I really want to start incorporating them into our war attacks. I kinda like the fact that they are underused as well.
did a 10 valk govalo in war this morning, sooo overkill. and have my valks going up to level 3 finally!
I'm having a lot of success with govalo recently. People are really surprised it is a viable attack. I find it works phenomenally well on centralised air defences, even with open bases.
By the way, I need advice. I'm th9 and nearly maxed in everything. We get matched with a lot of open base layouts in clan wars (anti 3 star basically). Can anyone suggest any good valk based strategies for dealing with these bases?
So one day I will update this bad boy but its like 40 pages (I did a massive review of it once and learned the actual length...)
But the warden and Valkyrie make a good team. I have been mostly relying on Queen Walks with GoViz but have found SC has messed her her AI to make her much more tempermental
The AQ will now not walk the edge of a base if their is a target inside a larger compartment pulling her in. But if the compartment is only 2 buildings deep, then your in luck. Otherwise you have to be very aware that you may need to have a few contingency plans.
I haven't done it much yet but I've done a few hybrid GoHoVaWi attacks (witches and hogs)
I hit with my GoWiVa style attack, staggering my warden to the edge of the attack. Then I send in the hogs and when they cross the warden's radius I make them invincible. I then throw rages on top and watch as in those 5 seconds they rapidly slaughter defensive structures - which quickly inhibits the base's ability to fight off the witches.
Haven't don it enough to swear by it yet though.
Will also be recording an unusual attack soon where a \/alhalla member actually makes an intentional "shoping" crew with her queen walk at Th9 to get a very nice 3 star. Hard for me to explain so stay tuned!
Which should I upgrade first (from a war perspective)? Golems or Valks to level 4...Relatively new TH9 both of them at Level 2 at the moment...
Depends on whether you're going to use valks a ton in wars. I don't use them always for war but I farm with valks, so that's what I did first. Golems you'll basically always use in war, BUT a max valk vs a level 2 valk is far more powerful than a lvl 4 golem vs level 2 golem.
But your heroes matter a lot more than either, make sure they're both at least 10/10.
Thanks for this thread. I unfortunately didn't upgrade my Valks at th8 so I kind of left them to last to upgrade. I upgraded my hound right before that attack was nerfed and I've had moderate success with the three stars since then. Until I got my girls maxed. I've been pretty much three starting every attack since then. Damn I wish I did them after Golem 4.

Normal attack will lure CC and kill w 2 poison. Unleash the golems with wiz behind. Wb and heroes once path is cleared and then the valks. Jump into core and heal them when needed. As they're facings the last round of D I send in the loons or hogs. Usually 3 star.
Just wondering if there are other or better variations I could use for a more segmented base. More hogs? Path w quakes?

Oh wow, I can't believe I missed this. WOW. Come on dude, let's do some math. Since you're talking about getting your heroes to 10/10, if you upgrade from, say, a level 8 to level 9 queen, you're gaining 17 hp and 5 dps. Are you going to tell me that's important? A three golem raid, on the other hand, gains 1500+(1500*.4) hp.. or over 2000 hp per level. Which upgrade matters a lot more than the other?
thx god, i found this thread by coincidence...
several months ago, while i started playing coc, i found that valkyrie is most interesting one, because i play dota, and i do love splash attack. and i decide, after as soon as i hit th8 i will up valk first, and will use it like forever.
but, when i finally reach th8 few months later. and starting using valk, on my first attack with her on war, i've really dissapointed with her performance, too weak, and some of her flying. in compare with hogs, that i always use before at th7, valk is too much weak. so that time i choose to abandon her, and i consider to not upgrade it and not using it again, ever.
and nowadays, i hit mid th9, i used to play goho, and i could easily 3 starred any th9 mostly in war. and i tend to up lalon, for much insurance 3starred maxed th9. and i don't know, just before i upgrade my lava, suddenly i heard about valhalla files by coincidence, and then i consider to check it out.
and now............. i understand, i've played it the wrong way, and didnt have a chance to train my attack. so after reading this thread, my interest on her is coming back. and my lalon may go to hell now, i will upgrade them later. and i choose to upgrade valk instead. And sadly, because my valks only lvl 1 for now, i need 36 more days, to start learn everything on this thread. but sure, i will practice it !!
anyway, what strategy did u recommended for th9 going against th10 with valks? did it have a chance 3 starred mid th10??

So im currently a th8 with lvl 1 valks lvl4 giants wb and lvl2 healers and wanna do a tornado is it enough?Which should i upgrade first to get it working?
Healers, are the cheapest to upgrade and receive a huge boost going to level 3. They totally compensate for lower HP of level 4 Giants. Do upgrade giants later, for the extra DPS and extra HP to survive longer before needing to deploy healers.
Valks work well enough since level 1 (for TH8 at least).
Hey, great thread! Am a fairly new 9.5 with 35/34 heroes, and use valks a lot. Usually pair them with giants and golems to clear heavy dps cores. Wicked combo under rage! Haven't 3 starred a max 10 in war yet, but been very close. Great troop!

the question was whether it is possible to two-star, not three-star...
much will depend on your skills and the quality of the base design. a maxed th9 who sticks all of the air defenses in a single compartment that you can get your valks into will be vulnerable to govalo (golem+valks+heroes kill AQ, air defenses and CC troops, loons mop up the rest with little trouble). And in general, if you could get 2 stars on a base with a gowipe attack, you can probably to do the same with gowiva once you have learned how to funnel the valks. You may even find it easier, as the valks will shred bases where buildings are packed closely in relatively large compartments, whereas the pekkas need to (slowly) engage each target.

Valkyrie Raids | Post Update and Nerfed
We need some action and re-thinking about Valkyrie Strategy... Mostly at WAR.
After this update, since valkyrie health has reduced, should i prefer faster tanking troops strategies like valkyrie tornado over goviz? As valkyrie tend to run in front of golem and get k¡lled easily, i was wondering whether giants could replace golem in wars. I am a new th8 with level 1 valkyrie.
I will be making a new hand book. This update changed Valkyrie - it wasn't a buff nerf but a troop reworking. It's like I have the Valkyrie's trigger happy sister...
Anyway - \/alhalla is still scoring in war and here are a few premature thoughts
1) Most comps will require large numbers of Valks. The old quantities of 5 cited in this guide will not hold the same water
2) CC maxed Valks are a big help as they are much more durable than level 2-4.
3) Mass Valks or GoViz did get a huge buff. Mixed with poison changes - people are discovering its power. Which worries me since SC hates anything that easily 3 stars in someone else's eyes
4) Valks on defense are beasts. Hard to kill, fast, and with splash
5) Valks need more numbers or support now to do the same things (albeit faster now). You may have to alter your HoVa so that Valks are healing and hogs are going surgical (been working well).
Troops considerations
Witches with their nerf and Valkyrie rework I am 75% will make a terrible team now.
Healers and Valks may have gained a new life. Valks are so fast now they can approach an AD and rip it apart before it kills your healer. As before looks hard to control but promising
GoGiViz is working well at th11. Seen a few high star attacks (go away SC!) and rips up th10 easy enough
New Valk/Hogs levels will be great for th11 as I was already working out a HoVa combination - just refining
Bowlers will have a place - not sure what lol
I think many strats will work but SC will for me back to the drawing board
Was using roughly the same troop comp. as the th10 attack in your vid there before the reconfigure. Struggle with it now, but believe with the reduced attack time, haven't altered my queen walk to compensate for it. Look forward to the maxed valks and hope to get her back in the arsenal again!

I'm right right in T2 and getting by with close shaves and luck. I am not very confident in attacking using valks with the nerf. Any troop combos?
Bk/AQ at 15/16. Have lvl 4 valks, lvl 5 hogs, and pretty much good troops.
Thankyou Nio, I will try a more valk heavy GoViz in next war. My GoVaWiWi in a war after valk nerf on Thursday was totally slaughtered and lost us a war on percentage (29 stars out of 30). The old GoVaWiWi would have gotten 3 stars easily. I was tempted to just go mass valks but did not have the time for a recook in the war.
As for the Valkyrie numbers, Nio, I'm finding that 6 for TH8 is working very well. TH9 can also do 6, but 7 or 8 would be better. As for TH10 and 11, 8-10 lvl5 Valkyrie look the most promising.
Thanks! Cc Valks helps lower the numbers. My GoViz+AQ walk with th10 troops is in Titans I. Switched to double freeze and double rage - upped to 10 Valks. If I locked down the core and have 1 rage (2 freeze) it pretty well blows up
Double giant bombs are now a problem... Watch for trap zones. Can't use Valks as the sniffers anymore - maybe PEKKA?
For govape, should we send pekka before valkyrie, or vice versa?
Also, can we send 1 golem from opposite side of base from where valkyrie are attacking?

Hey, I am a recent TH-9 with level 2 valkyries and need to learn about using the govape or any stategies using Valkyries since gowipes have become reallly standard issue and boring and really interested after using valkyries according to the valhalla files. Can I be accepted??

Any advice for a th10 in champs using GoVaPe? Currently using 1 golem, cc golem/giants, 2 pekkas, 12 wiz, 14 valks. 2 rage, freeze, heal, jump/EQ. Anything I should change or does that sound good? I'd post replays but I'm not sure how to do that yet. (Also wish I'd found out about y'all sooner, I've always liked valks and used them before the buff)

Well, hope that can give you some point of view about the army composition and spell. Sometimes I hitting TH10s, spell change to 2 rage 1 healing, 4 earthquake. And, CC is Giants.
Nio can you add a section for VHGH? You have been liking it a lot, but don't think there is a section for it here. I personally have been using somewhat of a version of this (4-5 giants, so I personally call it HVH), and it has been working well, even in war. I personally think it would anhialate common anti-3s because usually always an air d within like two squares of a inferno and both in the same cell (haven't gotten to try because haven't been in war a ton recently, and usually end up going against anti-2s instead), meaning freeze hits two prime targets, guaranteed, and valks become near invincible with no infernos on them, and healers not getting shot at as much. Also, Huntee has been using this, and last I checked with him, he got 16/18 stars in 6 mp attacks right off the bat against th9s. Seems like a good result to me :P
What army comp and spells would you recommend for a th8 GoVaPe and HGVH ?
Try composition on this VHGH video, and tweak it as u need to tweak for better result.
And, for GoVaPe, u can try:
2 golem, 5-6 valks, 2 pekka, 6 wb, rest wizards, cc: fill in with Valks.
or
2 golem, 7-8 valks, 1 pekka, 6 wb, rest wizards, cc: fill in with Pekka.
Spell: I'd preferred 3 healing spell, 2 poison or 2 healing 1 rage, 2 poison or 4 eq 2 healing spells.
