How to protect DE?

This morning when i woke up i went to see my town and i found 5 attacks to my village and 4 of them took over 1200 DE EACH....my town didnt get protection status because it didnt suffer enough damage and because 2 of those attackers, only used lighting spells. My question is, what can i do to avoid this? I lost over 5500 DE in less than 8 hours. We all know how hard is to get this elixir. Any suggestions? I want to upgrade my queen, but seems to be this is going to be a very difficult task to achieve.

It's just bad luck, sometimes you can go a day without being DE looted, or sometimes every attack is 4 level 5 lightning spells, 1 thing to do is upgrade your storage - more hitpoints = less DE taken

Well the two lightning strikes there's nothing you can do about.

For the other 2 attacks, you should post your base and maybe people can give feedback. If they're reaching your DE storage and completely cleaning it out without reaching 40% damage, it might not be very well protected. Another good thing to do is put your TH outside if it isn't already. With the new league bonuses its really easy to get a quick shield because people want an easy loot bonus and trophies to climb leagues. Also, when I lightning someone's DE I always kill their TH if its exposed, because I know how much it sucks to get multiple lightning attacks and no shield, I'm sure others may do this.

Is your TH outside? If not, put it outside.

My DE storage is max level, right in the middle of my village. my TH is outside, nowhere within range of defensive towers.
I still lose around 800 DE due to lightning strikes.
SuperCell love that you can do this, that's why they reduced the time it takes to make these spells - at least twice this year....

What's your trophy range? I find that the higher I go, the less likely I'm going to be attacked by lightning. Of course, then you're more prone to being 3-starred by TH9, but at least it's one-and-done and you'd be shielded after.

Nothing you can do against lightning but this setup has been doing well against all other attacks. Only one or two people have reached the DE storage. My previous base couldn't protect any one particular storage but when I switched to this my de loses reduced substantially:

I think there is a real case for a "Lightning conductor" defensive building.

The spell would still remain usable, but would just be negated in a small area around the conductor. It could be a small 1x1 sized "spike", and have a very small area of effect.

You mean a lightning rod? If this was implemented it would probably be with teslas which would drain about 15% of the lightning spell damage per tesla
