Why isn't GoWiVa as popular as GoWiWi/GoWiPe?

Just tried GoWiVa today for no other reason than wanting to give Valkyries a real run. This comp is amazing. I had minions in my CC. Took down a very upgraded th 9, 3 stars with 20 seconds to spare! *loud applause and gasps* I haven't upgraded my golems nor Valkyries yet (I'm a th 9) so I was amazed to see how much better this worked as compared to my gowiwi attacks (my gowipe sucks lol...damn pekkas!).

Why isn't this strategy more popular? I hardly see valks used point blank which is why I finally made them a centerpiece of an attack.

This comp kicks serious behind...for sure.... I kill it all the time.

to upgrade Valkyries. They focus first on Hogs, Golems & Witches.

Good work on that 3 star. I have just started to get the knack with my gowipe and gowiwi army so I haven't felt like trying gowiva yet.

So, how many of each troop and spell did you use? And any base designs to look for or avoid?

I guess because most people dont bother upgrading valks. Mine are still lvl 1. I can upgrade them easily atm, but I'm saving my DE up for getting my witch to lvl 2.. (my golem is 3)

I don't like the idea of spring traps and valks being trown off becuase they rush ahead of all other troops. On the other hand I prefer my golems, which are used in pretty much all my combos. I will try valks, but be the last troop I upgrade at th9

Its not all bad, springs can toss 15 spaces worth of troops, meaning only one valk is lost at a time. If they are under a rage spell, they actually run right over them before they can trip.

And why not use 25 Barbarians instead of onr Pekka? They have less health but way more damage than one Pekka could ever dream off!

The reason of using Pekka instead of Valkyries is exacly the same as not using Barbarians instead of Pekkas:

A full health Pekka loses 50% of her health, -50% of 25 Barbarians loses 50% of their health and 50% of their damage.

If you bring 3 Valkyries instead of one Pekka, losing 1000 health will reduce your damage by 1/3, while losing 1000 health on a Pekka reduce her damage by zero.

This isn't really true. You need to control other variables so you're comparing apples to apples. On a DPS per unit of housing space basis, valks are better than pekka. On a DPS per unit of HP, valks are better than pekka.

Valk attack power is also distributed across also numerous targets, which benefits them relative to pekka when facing single target defenses. Valks also deal splash damage, not single target, which is another plus.. Lastly, their AI causes them to strategically deal damage in between multiple buildings.


Valks are so visibly more effective that it's crazy so few use them, but people tend to do a lot of groupthink around here. If people tried things out and learned things on their own instead of just following the generic plan of the guy next to them, it would help them tremendeously. Until then, I'll keep enjoying valks and hope everyones lack of interest in them as troops keeps a nerf far far away :)
