TH9s: What's your strategy when hero is down??

This is a conflict we all face and it really makes 3* difficult in wars. I'm struggling to find a solid army comp/strategy that will keep me effective in wars while one hero is being upgraded.

My clan wars non-stop, so scheduling upgrades around war isn't an option. I'm a relatively new TH9; main war troop levels are as follows:

Golem-3
Witch-2
Hogs-4
Pekas-3
Wizs-5
Mins-4
Heroes-10
Drags-3
Loons-5

*Golem is currently going to 4. All DE will be going to heroes from now on, so I'll be without them quite often.

What's your suggestions for army comp/strategy/spells in hope for 3* on other midway TH9s?

hogs and heal.

if one of our heroes is being upgraded. Otherwise we focus our attacks on base designs that can be 3 starred using Dragons & Balloons or Hog Riders. Base designs that can be 3 starred with those troops typically do not need heroes to 3 star.

Gowiwipe. Pekkas serving as your bk. Nothing can replace the AQ she is too awesome.

Mainly just attacking lower bases than you normally would.

What i've done in the past is bring a pekka and some barbs in the CC and gone with the typical balloonion strat i tend to favor..

Pekka doesn't get bounced off springs and smashes ♥♥♥♥ to pieces. obviously it's not the same but similar alternative..

I really like this idea. I could go with Dragloon and have a lvl5 pekka in my cc...

Dragon/Heal or maybe even a healer.

You need to pick bases carefully. Either mass drags against a th9 or if you need 3 stars then a th8 is your best shot.

I've found that 20 loons 8 hogs and rest minions works very well against most th8. Use the loons 5 a side against point defences, hogs for the core and minions to clean up. I pack 2 rage and 2 heal but often don't need to use spells with this combo. You probably want lvl 6 loons to do this though.

I've been working on my heroes for a while now since my th9 troops are maxed. I've tried to keep one hero upgrading constantly.

I agree with what's been previously said; a pekka is your friend in this situation. Gowipe can 3 star many th9 bases, and 2 star th10s. I run 2 golems, 3 pekkas, 16-20 wiz, 8 wbs, rest archers with a pekka and some barbs in the cc. 2 rage and 2 jump (to get the troops out of the hotbox after the th is rubble), or 3 rage 1 jump, depending on the base.

It's a little cheaper than mass drag, and I think a bit more fun.

Balloonion also works well, especially when enemy xbows are down and or air def is underdeveloped, for about the same elixir price as gowipe.

Hope this helps. You'll get used to only having one hero, so when that second one is done upgrading, it'll be amazing to use once or twice in war before the next upgrade.
