Almost... but not really. I don't know anyone who is good at the game that uses them. They're almost so cool... the mini tank, the unique short range ground splash. It's very unique unit. The downside of choosing multiple target locations as a preference sometimes means it takes extra long to find a target and also diverts them in weird directions that lead them to traps when they could have already been doing damage. As a result i think the last update was sort of a wash on improving the troop. A few tweaks would make them interesting and fun without being too strong.
First make them the first troop with the preferred-target champions and cc troops. Obviously flying troops would still have the upper hand and clusters of wizards could still overcome the hit points, but it would make for an interesting troop that more strategy could be focused around without making them too strong. Also in terms of valkyrie lore it would line up better, making it a prime candidate for marketing vids.
Second make them slightly faster in terms of movement and attack speed. Right now they are effectively too slow. Not enough hp to make them solely a mini tank so they need a small amount more of attack upside. Reduce the damage they do proportionally (so same damage per second) but give them more chance to do a little damage under fire. Make them the short-range, troops version of the xbow. Alternatively you could greatly increase attack speed, making it almost constant, and slightly increase walking speed. Given the size of the character in game play it would be nice to see a trade off since it is supposed to be very resilient. Some speed, given their implied strength, would be nice.
