What each building is and the uses of each.

This thread is supposed to be a reference, and is mainly for newbies. This thread gives brief info on each building, and what they are used for.

DEFENSE (code: 1)


Cannons: (code 2)
usefulness 6.5/10
Cannnons are signle point defenses that can only target ground troops. they have decent range. they are best near he out side behind 1 layer of walls. they should be spread apart so that only a part of their range is touching each other.
However, they are easily outnumbered by a mass amount of troops, and are limited in terms of targets.

Archer tower: (code 3)

Usefulness 7.5/10
Essentially like cannons, but better. They have more range than cannons and target air and ground troops. However, they are slower and are outnumbered easily.

they should be placed near the edge behind 1 layer of walls, and the outer space of their range should be overlapping.

Mortar: (code 4)

Usefulness 8/10
While slow, they are very good as they can attack multiple groups of troops, and have good damage. However, they have a blind spot of 4 spaces in front of them. They are good for attacking at a wider range, but not up close. Good near the center of the base.

Wizard tower (code 5)

Usefulness 9/10
They cause splash damage so they can take out multiple groups of troops. They deal more damage than a mortar actually, since in 5 seconds, which is the amount of time the mortar takes to attack, and wizard towers take 1.2 seconds, wizard towers will ultimately deal more damage. Can attack air and ground troops. They can be placed near the edge, or near the core. When farming, they are good at defending storages

Air Defense (code 6)

Usefulness 10/10
the reason I gave it 10/10 as it is your main thing to defend against air attacks and is very important
pits biggest weakness is that it is vulnerable to ground troops so have some sort of defense that can attack ground troops covering it. They have good dps, but are unfortunately single target. When you are trophy pushing, keep it near the center and overlap it with other air defenses. If you are farming, they aren't as important, so they can go near the edge. They have good rang, so you can spread them out.

Walls (code 7)

Usefulness 10/10
one of the most useful things. They are the main thing that protects your base, and can be used in many different ways. You can manipulate AI and use funneling with them. You can protect your things, and much more. However, wall placement is very important and heres a good word of advice. Don't make your wall intersections meet like a + or a T since a wall breaker(s) will open up more than one compartment which is NOT GOOD! Instead stager them and don't make them meet at a cross intersection

Clan Castle (code 8)
11/10
Very very powerful. Amazing on offense and can save your but really out stands in defense. 20 lvl 4 archers is equivalent to above 150 dps. And that's just level four. They are your most valuable defense, and always should be kept in the center. Putting it outside or near it is bad and can quickly kill your clan castle troops, since they will be able to be lured to a corner.

Hidden tesla (code 8.1)
8.2/10
very fast and powerful. However, invest some levels to bring out its true power since it is very weak at low levels. Also, if you use it strategically you can use it for funneling and is very helpful. It's main weakness is its short range, and low health. Very underrated. Can be used anywhere depending on your base
Xbows (code 8.2)
8.5/10
Like an archer tower but better and a bit different.
It can be set to ground or ground and air. Ground has incredible range (14 tiles), but can't attack air units. Air and ground has 11 tiles range, but can attack air units and ground units. Does best near the center, but keep in mind the price of upgrading and building it. Mix up between ground and ground and air.

Inferno tower (code 8.3)
8.5/10
The inferno tower has two settings: multitarget and single target. Multi target has a set amount of damage but can destroy more than one troop at a time. Single target is very good at killing strong and bulky troops, and can dissipate them easily, because its damage starts to increase.
Great near the center.

Air sweeper (code 8.4)
7/10

Air sweepers are used to slow down enemy air troops, and pushes them away. While it doesn't do any damage, it lets other defenses have more time to defeat air troops. It can only face one direction however. These should be placed near your air defense, or in the middle or center.

Offensive buildings (code 1.1)


Barracks (code 9)
Best troop: Archers, wizards
This building is used to train elixir troops. They should be one of the first buildings you build, and should be upgraded quickly, as that equals more troops are able to be trained in each barrack.
In your base, they should be used as meatshields, and on the outside.


Laboratory (code 10)
first four upgrades you should do: Archer, Barbarian, wizard, troop you use often.
The laboratory is your source of upgrading troops and spells. They should be upgraded after army camps and barracks. They take up 4x4 tiles so place it accordingly. It should be placed on the outside.

Army camps (Code 11)
Army camps should be one of the first buildings you upgrade. That is because higher level equals more space. It allows you to raid more efficiently and let's you upgrade things faster. Should be on the outside.


Dark Barracks (code 12)
all the troops are equally good.


Dark Barracks are used to make DE troops. Until you can get DE easily make this your last priority. Should also be placed on the outside.

Spell factory (code 13)
The spell factory is used to make spells. Spells are meant to aid you in battle and each one is different. Lightning spells are good for clearing out cc troops and defenses. Heal spells are essentially better than healers. Rage spells are useful in attacks that are rather slow, and can significantly increase your troops strength. Jumps spells are not to useful, and freeze spells are good for high level play. Place it on the outside.

Dark spell factory (code 13.5)
The dark spell factory is very similar to the regular spell factory. However, the Dark Spell Factory uses DE instead of elixir. The 3 spells available are: Poison, Earthquake, and Haste. Poison damages enemy troops, and is very useful to take out CC troops. Earthquake spells reduce the hp of all defenses by a certain amount. 4 EQ spells will destroy walls at any level. Haste spells increases your troops movement speed. DE spell factory should be placed on the outside.

This will help lower levels understand the game better. 👍

Heroes (Code 1.2)


Barbarian king (Code 14)

Good on offense: Yes
Good on defense: Depends


Barbarian king is one of the heroes. He is a "supersized" Barbarian, naturally being more powerful. He is best on offense as he has good power and a bit of HP. Best as cleanup crew, distraction, or just as a part of your main attacking force. Depending on your strategy, a good way to use him is to send him out as a meatshield in the middle of a raid. For example, if you are barching and all you have left are a bunch of archers, send the barbarian king to let the archers do some more damage before the king dies. Also his ability, iron fist, can call on even more support. On defense, he can distract the troops but ultimately won't do much as he is easily outnumbered if low level. Can still be important though.

Archer Queen (Code 15)

Good on offense: Yes
Good on defense: Yes


The Archer Queen is the second hero, unlocked at TH 9. She is arguably the best hero, with good range, and a good ability. On offense, she can be used as support, and clean up crew. She can dish out damage quickly, but can't take too many hits, so placing her after you place a golem, giants, barb king, etc. would be a good idea. Her ability, royal cloak, is a very good defensive option, allowing you to get the last building needed to get 50%, or keep her alive for a little bit longer, enough time to destroy a storage, town hall, etc. On defense, she is very valuable as she can attack troops from behind the walls and from a distance, killing many troops, and can be a pain in the rear to deal with. also, on troops like golems or giants, she can help wear them down and kill them faster. however, if the troops manage to break through the wall and target her, depending on the number of troops, she is most likely dead, so place her wisely.

Resource buildings ​(Code 1.3):

Gold storage (code 16)

Gold storages are used to keep your gold. You can have a maximum of 4 storages. The maximum amount of gold you can store is 8 million. They should be kept near wizard towers. Depending on whether you are farming or not, you may or may not want to keep them near the center. Gold is used for defensive related upgrades and buildings.

Elixir storage (code 17)

Same thing as gold storage. The only difference is that it stores elixir. Generally, it is easier to get elixir than gold (or de). Elixir is used for offensive related upgrades and buildings.

Dark elixir storage (code 18)

Dark elixir is unlocked at town hall 7. It is used for things such as DE troops or DE spells. Dark elixir is the hardest resource to get. There is only one dark elixir storage. The maximum amount of DE you can hold is 200 000. Depending on what you are saving up for, or if you are trophy pushing, you may or may not want to keep it near the center.

Dark elixir drill (code 19)

The dark elixir drill is used to get DE outside of battle. There are 3 DE drills in the game. They do not produce a lot of DE. Place these on the outside, as they don't do you much good inside your base.

Elixir Pump (code 20)

The elixir pump is the same thing as the DE drill. However, there are a maximum of 7 collectors you can have. They also produce much more elixir when compared to the DE drill. Like with the other resource collectors, leave these outside. Creates elixir.

Gold mine (code 21)

See elixir pump. Only difference is that it creates gold.

Miscellaneous (code: 1.4)


Town hall (code 22)
The town hall (TH) is your "main" building. Each upgrade provides a new set of buildings, as well as more upgrades for other buildings. If you are trophy pushing, you will want to keep the town hall in the center, as it can prevent a 2 or 3 star. If you are farming, then place it in a corner unprotected. This is because someone can come and snipe your town hall. This gives you a free 12 hour shield, at the cost of a few trophies. Also, after TH 6 or so, do not upgrade your town hall before maxing all of your other buildings. This is because there is a loot penalty against lower level town halls.

Builder's hut (code 23)
The builder's hut is used to upgrade and build various things. You start off the game with 2. Every upgrade and new building requires the use of a builder. Builder huts cost gems to build. You want to have at least 4 builders. If you buy gems, it is recommended to buy builder huts before anything. Each builder hut you get increases your efficiency by 20%. Place builder huts with all of your other buildings, or surround them with walls so that your opponent will waste their wall breakers. (Wall breakers target buildings enclosed by walls.)

I think a guide on their strength and weakness against units would be useful.

Canon - great for wb as they have a high firing rate and won't be distracted by air units
Motar - great against units such as barb/arch/wiz
WT - great against all mid to low hp units, or units that goes after defenses and clumps up
xbow - great against low hp unit

Nice noob guide. Good for anyone starting off to read imo.

A couple of typos here and there, but those aren't that big of a deal.

A few things I personally disagree with (doesn't mean I'm necessarily "right")

• The archer tower is no longer slower than the cannon, so I think you should change that.
• Inferno only 8.5? I thought those were the prime reason that th10s are so darn near impossible to 3 star.
• Idk if walls are 10/10. They are important, but because of the various means of bypassing them, 10/10 seems a bit high.
• I love the jump spell, use it almost every raid :)

Again, just my opinions, not saying you're wrong or anything. Good work!

Yup
In fact, there wasnt base builder when the game came out. It was introduced in October 2013 I think (or November)
There were no clan wars either

I knew about the clan wars. I started the game a little bit before they came out.
