I have TH8 max defenses and half purple half skull walls. I am maxing my barb king and then moving up to TH9. I have read the threads and guides on here about upgrading and maxing. I just wanted some advice from people who have RECENTLY moved up to TH9 to see how it is going.
Everytime I upgrade TH's I seem to start off slow so, my questions are as a new TH9 what is the best base and trophy range to start out in?
Please help and don't just say read the forums or guides... Thanks
Got TH9 done on friday and still no trophy range is working for me..
I've been TH9 for about 2 weeks, and when I first upgraded I just kept my TH8 base and added the walls on weaker parts of it. Fact is you don't have all the new defenses that you need for a proper TH9 base to work, so you should work on getting those new defenses (especially xbows) ASAP. I've since transitioned to a TH9 farming base.
As for trophies, I was hanging out in Gold I as a TH8, and when I hit TH9 I (unintentionally) went up to around 2100, which is great for DE but sucks for anything else. I dropped back to Gold I and the loot is enough to keep my builders busy around the clock.
I go up to Crystal 2000 trophy to get the league bonus then hover around 1900-2k range, best of both worlds. I get the better bonus but the loot of Gold 1 and the occasional DE score of Crystal. Any lower in trophies and I see way too many TH7 and have to next a ton.
Our TH8's of course find some sweet TH8 collector raids (Gold 1) that they share in chat and tell me to drop...but they leaves off the fact that all the TH7's they can hit mean squat to me.
My Best Advice: Finish Skulls before moving to TH9
When you are in TH9 you need a lot of Elixir that you now (th8) can save to walls

It's hit or miss whether it's worth it to max skulls at TH8 before moving up to 9. Still takes the same amount of lvl 5 breakers to bust through them, and the offensive and defensive benefit you get at TH9 is so much greater than anything at TH8. It's about like moving up from TH6-7, which was huge.Quote:

I always encourage people to max before upgrading but I can see why some don't stick around just for walls. As long as you have all lvl 7's (purple) and maxed defenses as a TH8, I'd probably still say it's ok to move up to 9.
Just know that if you fall behind on walls, just means you have that much more to do at hall 9/10. Hall 9 goes up to lvl 10 walls so if you are sitting on lvl 7's 3 rounds of wall upgrades would be pretty brutal.
Thanks for the input. I definitely want to max my BK (lvl 9 now) and I agree that the offense and defense advantage of TH9 are much better than finishing all my walls. I like this advice and will probably just get as many walls done as I can while BK and TH are upgrading. Thanks again for the advice

Worked out pretty well to me.
I upgraded to th9 about four weeks ago and at first the upgrades were jumbled and confused but after about two or three weeks everything gets sorted out. Im at gold II and i am having pretty bad loot so im trying to go up to gold 1 so i cant really offer any advice on trophy range.
