Well, another fun clan ripped apart for lack of opt-in...

Title says it all really. We are (were) an adult clan with adult lives, keep our roster below 30 and usually end up with 20v20 wars which IMO are a lot more fun and better organized than the 50v50 disasters. Just lost a war because two of our members had to leave town at the last minute, we are spread across quite a few time zones so communication isn't easy.

People shouldn't have to leave a clan or be kicked because we are going to War. We can't know who to kick because some people may be sleeping when we ask if they are around.

Where is the opt-in feature already? I have seen four clans full of good buddies torn apart now because of this ♥♥♥♥. There is NO downside to this. Sister/feeder clans are not a solution, nor is repeated kicking. We just want to keep our nice, tight little group together and when we go to War we want to have every member who can participate be there, and the ones that can't be able to bow out temporarily. Our players aren't 15 year old kids, we have jobs and families and this one single feature is killing the clan system.

Come on already SuperCell, I don't want to hear Orwellian doublespeak about "this isn't our current focus", it is about ten minutes of programming to make it so the War badge on clan page can be toggled on/off. Enough is enough, the only real reason to play this game for a LOT of us is the social aspect within our clans, and that is being hurt very badly by this problem.

For awhile sc has guided us to push rather then farm.
From what I'm gathering we are being guided into wars...
1) no opt out option
2) the economy is bad. Economy for wars is good.
3) lava hound/loonions is a ♥♥♥♥♥er option then gowipe for 2 staring uppers during war.

From my perspective their actions are having the opposite effect.....and for most the "economy for war" has been non existent. Minimal gold return for the effort and mostly a net loss on lixir and dark lixir.

Come on now. SC just can't make these forums happy no matter what they do. Making walls upgradeable with elixir was probably regarded as having no downsides until it was officially announced too. I don't know, "OMG nobodys going to war anymore" and "OMG all members should be a part this is supposed to be a 'clan' war" might be the complaints? Mark my words, there'll be something to hate about it.

The solution to this is to get everyone in your clan to use an app such as glass board or group me. It is completely annoymous comunication, all the people know is your username.

I totally agree with you and wish they would implement that alreday!!

How does leaving town prevent them from attacking in a clan war? They can't do at least one attack in a 24 hour span ?

You have to remember, the forums isn't just one person. You can't make everyone happy with the same thing. One person likes it usually means one person won't like it. You can't get mad just because one person says they want something and another on the forums says they don't.

I didn't really understand that either. The people that need an "Opt-Out Option" really don't put much effort into attacking. All you have to do is right before they start the war leave, wait 20 minutes and re-join. It is pretty simple. The other week, my queen and spell factory were upgrading, I left the clan, and join a lower level in our family of clans for a day, and rejoined the main clan the next day. It really isn't that hard...

My point is it's unreasonable to expect SC to implement opt-out ASAP despite how easy the implementation may be. They have to carefully weigh how useful it is to the game. The forums' opinion probably means little since this community has a bad habit of demanding something then getting in SC's face when they get it.

How does one war problem tear a whole clan apart? Every other clan has the same issue and still manages to stay on a good status

That's more of a bandage than a solution to the problem. People shouldn't have to rely on other apps to fix a problem. A better bandage would be to allow alliances so that less active members can go to a feeder clan but everyone can still chat in the alliance tab (it would take more server space though)

When important deadlines affect your life, attacking is not a big concern. Even if people need breaks, attacking and doing poorly isn't exactly relaxing

I am sorry but this is completely not true. Vacation, work, medical leave, school, military leave are just a FEW of the reasons to needed to opt out of a war or two. Has zero to do with being lazy or not putting effort in attacking. My clan runs a 99-100% attack rate. We are extremely organized. And a strong proponent for this option. I simply shouldn't have to track this out of game, who is in/out and kick people. When they are coming back..how full my clan actually is- can I recruit? If I accept 2 more people by accident did I just replace one person on vacation/military leave? It's ridiculous.

I think hes asking for the Opt out feature that has been suggested about 9000 times. please use the search function before making a thread.:rolleyes:

Many clans originated long before clan wars came out.

You're talking about people who have been clashing together for up to two years. People form friendships in that time frame, and they don't want to have to boot their friends, because they have different objectives in the game.

If a brand new war clan emerges, that is different, because they have always been a war clan.

We do need an opt-out button.

I have been a member of this forum for a long time. I have never ever ever ever ever heard anyone ask for lix for walls. It is killing attacks. I have skipped good gold raids because the is no lix.
There is no lix because it is dumped into walls

This suggestion sounds nice on paper, and that's the only place it works. Unless everyone in your clan is in the same time zone and are always on at exactly the same time, knowing that everyone currently in the clan actually can participate is impossible.

Similar suggestions, like waiting 1 hour/2/3/24 to start the next war so those opting-out have time to bail before the search starts yield equally bad results.

In a game centered on social interaction, where's the upside to jumping ship from an active clan to join a dead one for X hours until you're sure the main clan has found an opponent? You're not likely to have anyone to talk to in the interim, reinforcement requests will go unfilled, and interest in the game overall wanes during this period.

People who cannot participate in war for whatever reason (vacation, work, family, no internet, phone on the fritz, etc.) should not be vilified for that reason. And the remainder of the clan gets harshly penalized because of it, usually by way of losing the war.

Hence, the complete and utter necessity of an opt-out (or opt-in, as the OP suggests) function.

OP i so agree with you 100%. This feature is totally needed in game, and i really fail to see why supercell have a problem with it and have yet to implement it when it has been asked for so much.

I understand that they want the clan to act as a unit etc, but it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to arrange a war in a clan of 30 or 40 or 50 people, and not one of them will have a problem participating due to something happening in RL.. This doesnt mean inactive people, it just means busy people with jobs and families and lives...

i too too have seen clans torn apart by war, and i have also been on the "management" end of soft kicking people so that they dont have to join in and let the rest of the team down...and frankly its a pain in the proverbial...

Come on supercell, your "vision" is already being compromised by people having to soft kick to work round the war thing, an opt in or out button (and i still think it should be opt in btw) is not going to divide clans, in fact the opposite will happen... Please please listen...

I run a well organized war clan so I am in the contingent that wants this to use as a tool to better organize. (I don't consider kicking a good tool) My clan rules would not change if they added it, I will just be equipped with a smoother way of implementing them.

How it should work...

There should be a button (it can be a new one or the war shield can be modified) that toggles a player as in or out.

Access to hit the button to toggle should go to the leader and the player in question.
---- individual players cannot opt each other in or out
---- its an argument either way to give it to co as well - Good for clans where co is a management job, bad for clans that give it out like candy. (I consider the latter to be a sign of a bad leader)
---- A leader who abuses authority to opt guys in against their wishes are really just hurting their own selves for how they are adding a risk to their war participation. (the guy might then just not attack anyhow, if not seeing eye to eye with leader he wont care)
---- A leader opting a guy out against his wishes has that prerogative to decide who he wants in his war. And its still nicer than just kicking the guy like happens now.

The status of a player is only a factor right at the time a war starts. Instead of just selecting all eligible players from the total population it will just be all eligible players from the opted in group.
---- Can even implement by leveraging the existing eligibility functionality that currently is only driven by a timer.

After that everything works the same. The list of warriors from the clan is rounded to an even 5 via the existing logic and then the matchmaking calculation takes place also using the existing logic.

A player joins a clan with his eligibility set the same way it is today. (He is in unless there is a timer)


Things that would not happen -
...A player cannot add themselves to a war after the fact. If they change their status during a war it makes no difference until the next war when that status is read at startup.
...This would not serve as a way to replace members that take off during war. if they do that then there is the same affect on the war as there is today. Unused attacks stay unused. (it will never change that this just stinks when guys pull that stunt)

I know this is a topic brought up ad nauseum, and those of you who say ♥♥♥ over the idea really need to get a grip. Yeah, we all like to clash, and I appreciate the concept of all for one, one for all, but really - some people have REAL lives with responsibility, and they cannot be around to drop out prior to commencement of a war. Not everyone puts in hours and hours a day. I play more often than I should, but guess what, real life is about to hit me upside the head and will severely curtail my ability to play for a good period of time. I'm faced with the decision of whether or not I should straight up leave the clan I have been in and developed friendships in because I don't want to be the guy potentially dragging them down come war time, and frankly I really don't want to have to constantly worry about whether or not I need to check in and make sure they aren't about to go to war. I only really started playing just after the whole clan war thing came about. My clan identifies as a farming clan, but they take wars seriously when they enter them. Is it really going to eat into your bottom line to give this option to the player base? No. It may do the opposite when people are forced to chose between a few pixels on a screen and real life.

Come on SC, implement it already. Hell, give me access to the source code and I'll implement it for you. The people of the forum have spoken, and it is a resounding yes.
