Penalties for people leaving clan during Clan Wars

Everybody has had problems with people leaving the clan during clan wars. The cooldown timer just isnt enough to deter people leaving the clan during wars which puts the clan at a big disadvantage. Here are some idea's to impose on people that choose to leave the clan during clan wars.

1. Impose a loot penalty for 72 hours. i.e. 20% penalty on all raids during the 72 hour period.

2. Make the individual unable to join another clan for 72 hours

3. Make the leave button unavailable during war.

I do agre, no 3 is a good idea but does not force to attack .

Not good ideas, loot penelty is just rude, and not allowing you to leave will make problems happen, people will start another war soomn after, and people that want to leave cant leave.....

This makes war a way to trap people in a clan. Basically, if I visit a clan but then they start war, I'm stuck in that clan because of these.

Being counted in an leaving during a war without attacking first is definitely an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ move, and in many clans is considered about the biggest offense there is.

Personally, I'd like to see a longer cooldown period than just the duration of the war, but as people said you can't force anyone to attack.

Really the only thing you can do is be selective in who you let into your clan. Supercell will never go for any sort of penalty, badge that says deserter. If there were a way to see their former clan, and see that clan's war map to see if they attacked, you might have something, but that's about it.

I disagree with any hostage penalties since it would cause people to spam, misdonate, and cause other problems. Besides, there are people who would hop from a small group of clans to visit their friends so after they're done attacking, why should they have to stay? Also SC doesn't want to make complicate exceptions and stuff like that

TH sniping is worse in my eyes because not only are they not helping out, they're leeching

I think number 2 - we had three guys in the last clash off who left during prep day i wasted an hour trying to convince them to come back it was such a waste of my time.

I don't think you can or would want to lock them in but yeah prevent them from hopping to another clan for a bit I like that

This is one of the reasons why I kept my clan exclusively for my friends, and sometimes friends of friends. To prevent clan hoppers. I think no 1 is a little too harsh, but 2 and 3 makes a lot of sense.

#3 will make people want to do terrible or snipe TH in war so that they get kicked out

actually the simplest solution is to keep a stat of missed war attacks in your profile.

Unused war attacks stat! I love this idea! Should start a new thread just for it.

I always check war stars earned when considering a new member.

Maybe, but with separate war bases, how often do you see a town hall out? Deserters are a much more common problem.

I have the opposite issue. I wish we could trade. It helps that my clan hasn't been trying to recruit for a while though and my last war had 3 snipers. Someone tried recruiting and it went very badly apparently

I see your problem, but I don't think that any penalty should happen to players that quit clans just because they think the clan does not suit them.

First one they won't do. They've never implemented a negative stat. Second one is a bit more plausible but serves no purpose than a work around to not have negative stats, so i doubt it would pass through either.

#3 is not a good idea, people would join the back to back war clan and be unable to leave.
#2 isn't bad, but as it stands you can't enter another war for 48 hours anyway and that has a similar effect showing that you left your old clan.
#1 isn't fair, and doesn't take into account why they left. What if you joined a clan where the only active player was the leader? You just lost hours of loot because you didn't consider your new clan correctly.

First of all, they are all bad ideas. We already have a penalty for war, secondly, WHY would you bump a thread that is 4 WEEKS OLD?

I'm so tired if the Hoppers!!. There needs to be some type if list showing how many clans they have been in, with dates. I would also like to see it cost gold or elixer to leave a clan, espically during war. Those that are against it are the very hoppers we want to stop.

Hate to say it, but many of us don't have problems with people leaving our clan during wars. Maybe you should spend more time recruiting loyal, trustworthy members before doing so many wars if it's really a problem for your clan. Getting people you can trust in a clan is worth more than a few silly wars anyway. You'll be glad you did.

No, most of the people against these ideas are the people who AREN'T blinded by anger over people leaving during war. I am against this, but i have never hopped during wars. Even if i never liked that clan and didn't want to be in the war, i use my two attacks on appropriate targets, leave, and hope that they win. The "No joining another war until that war ends" penalty is fine.

What about this: Imagine a 12 year old joins a clan, and they immediatley start a war. Then the 12 year old realizes that everybody here cusses. the 12 year old doesnt like this type of language, but has to put up with seeing it constantly for two days. Then , right as the war finishes, another one starts before he can leave. Swap the 12 year old for anybody in a clan with inactive people. There is always that one co-leader that is active and always starts a war right after one finishes.

ANY penalty will encourage them to be as disruptive as possible until they are kicked, and therefor avoid the penalty. No good will ever come from forcing somebody to stay in a clan they don't want to be in by rule or fear of penalty. It will simply cause worse problems and abuses.

Actually the age limit is 13 anyway.

The problem with number 2 is that it will be a huge hassle when a new clan war starts as the entire system would be thrown off. For example, when a member who could supposedly attack couldn’t, as a result of leaving war. The 40 vs. 40 matching system will turn into a 35 vs. 35, preventing those who wanted to attack and making matters difficult and confusing.

On the other hand 1 and 3 are perfectally acceptable(maybe even a 30% loot reduction since the new Halloween update), as I feel they are more than fair.The chance of joining a clan right when they start war are either slim to none and are far more likely to be hoppers, who shouldn’t have even hopped in the first place.Even then those that did accidently stay, should try to enjoy being in war with a clan they might not even like. As the new loot bonus for war has been improved drastically, and made it more than profitable, as it is guaranteed that there won’t be loss unless you are extremely unlucky. If all else fails, the clan mate who joined a clan they didn't like. Can simply asked to be kicked right after they attack, which means that they’ll only have to stay for a little more than 1 day. If he/she polite and doesn’t do anything that will causes displeasure, I believe most people will accede to his/her request.

How can a loot penalty be rude?
Not only are you hampering your own chance of getting loot but also the entire clan's chances. The loyal members in a clan, that fights for even a single star. Should not be forced to drag those that didn’t bother making a conscience effort at all. As the excuses made for those that couldn't stay for a little more then 24 hours to attack are all crummy reasons. As more then 90% of people will say the clan is:

1. Weak
   
2. Boring
   
3. Inactive

But the opposing clan often has the same problem...

Not necessarily, some clans are hit way harder than others. Half of our clan mates(aka hoppers) left after war started. Which meant that as much as 20 people did no attack. In contrast to the opposing clan who only lost anywhere from 2- 4 people.

OMG this just happened to me, and when people leave the first thing that comes to my mind is a huge desire to punch them to death cuz I know that a war cool down is not enough since it's a fact that they don't care about wars, so that doesn't affect them at all. Your measurements are much better than Supercell's and I really wish they listen to you somehow because there many a**holes out there messing clans up. My clan has a nice wins/losses war record of 22/1 and that one was because someone left and we lost by 1 star, so they did put the clan in disadvantage.

Okay my clan does war all the time, and they start war as soon as one ends.

So with number one if I want to leave i get a loot penalty on my raids. This isn't fair, if I leave at all even if it is for a legimate reason, I get a loot penalty. This hurts especially if I'm saving up to build something expensive.

With number 2, I can't join another clan if I leave so I'm stuck clan less because I left for whatever legimate reason. Again this isn't fair.

With number 3, this would trap me in my clan forever, I would never be able to leave. This is also a way for leaders to purposely trap people in a clan.

I think a better idea would be to do these penalties for repeat offenders except disabling leave option not just anybody who happened to leave during war. For example if they leave during 3 consecutive wars that they are in they get a 10 % loot penalty on their raids, and this increases by 10 % until it hits 50% the more clans they leave while they are in war. This lasts for a week.
Also during the week with the loot penaltys they won't be able to join a clan. No one will know this, if someone invites them it will just say players inbox is full or players can still send an invite but the player can't see it until their penalties is over.

Also as for friendly hoppers who want to visit friends, there can be a function where it says no penalty and the leader can select it if the friendly hopper wants to visit someone during war. Of course the friendly hopper would have to ask the leader first, but this will help. The leader can even select certian (not all) cos that can enable this for others (not themselves)to help out if their not online when someone asks to have the no penalty. However to avoid people taking advantage of this if someone has left during 3 consecutive wars with this enabled and never came back to that clan, this will not be able to be enabled for them. This wont be shown, and if a person tries to enable it, their village would just disappear from the clan list for a while (20 minutes) unless the player posts in clan chat.

Let me tell you why I believe this arguements is flawed.
The loot penalty still isn't fair, clans that always do war have a higher chance of people joining right before war and even if there was a 1% chance that, that would happen, it still wouldn't be fair to the players who joined right before war.
Increased loot bonus doesn't matter, if someone wants to leave, they should be able to leave without interference. If their clan wins, the player loses their loot bonus. This is fair.

As for the third option I can see some clans abusing the no leave button during war. Lets say a clan has real good, high level, high town hall players in the clan. So they continuously start war and they asked to be kicked but no one will kick them since their high level, experienced players.

So I stand by my first statement.

Although everything you stated is plausible, it still remains highly unlikely. Still I feel that that even then the reasons you listed can be a chief reason,
in why Sc won't be making any changes.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion I guess. Judgement is decided by where you sit rather then where you think. I'll just acknowledge but disagree with your opinion and you can do the same for mine.

There are legitimate reasons to leave a clan at any time and I think we all just want to find a palatable way to deter the behavior that negatively impacts a clan during the war cycle. So, consider the following.

1. Implement an arbitrary war cool down period. After each war a period of [x] minutes/hours is observed before the next search can begin. This period allows members wanting to leave the opportunity to do so.

2. Allow members to leave whenever they want. You are not locked into the clan for the entire war duration just as it is today.

3. If you leave during prep, you cannot join another clan until either the war ends or you do both of your attacks.

4. At the end of the war, if you left and did not fight an additional penalty is imposed. Pick a penalty such as loot reduction or something creative. Personally, I'd like to see an icon placed next to their username for a period of time so that I can spot them without thinking.

5. Following up on #3, if you used both attacks we need to look at the results. If you tanked the attacks you get the same penalties. So we look at new stars gained in the attacks you used. If you delivered 2 or 3 new stars, you are free. If not, you get the penalties and branded.

i also think that a solid clan history would alleviate a lot of thus as it would give the clan leaders access to information needed to prevent these problem children from landing in the clan and starting this problem.

Because se of bullying issues the elave button must always be accessible, however maybe you could pay to join clans?

Don't forget how much damage a person can do. Especially if they are seeking to force the leader to kick them as a sort of quasi leave button. Also, clans that have a feeder for guys to jump to for troops would be hurt by this.

Granted that hoppers and especially war hoppers stink. But rather than coming here asking SC to solve your problems for you I would urge all guys complaining about this to solve it themselves. (see my sig) Those that cannot should question whether they are really a good candidate of the leader role because what they are really saying is that they cannot do the job and trying to blame others when it should be themselves. The majority of leaders do handle this issue themselves without a problem and because it is so many these forums are filled with tips and techniques from those guys. The info is there for those that are willing to absorb it.

Best solution is a counter in the player profile: Deserted X wars.

Natural selection would make serious players avoid deserting at all costs because the best clans would only accept players with no desertions.

This number would not increase if player is kicked, only if he leaves.

While I agree something like that would be really handy, or any of those wars vs attacks counters, SC has a policy against posting any of that sort of info so no matter how much we want it they will not do it.

The war timer is useful. If a guy shows up with one that has any substantial amount of time on it (more than a few hours) you are better off not taking a chance on him. They will always say they left their other clan early because they stunk (didn't donate or bad at wars) but that is most of the time a lie. If still want to be interested in the guy then ask him for the clan name and check. If he cant give it, like says he can't remember it, that's bull you know that and so now you know he is just full of it. But if he gives it look and see if they donate well or have a lot of war wins or if his story holds up. But my preference, I see that counter I don't take the time. They are gone.

Also, if you make everyone opt out of their first war after they join most of the hoppers will not have the patience so they will just leave within that first day. Its a good way to filter them off before you trust them in a war.

Currently, people harass deserters by following them to their new clan and telling everybody. Also, their send requests to join the other clan saying "JohnDoe is a traitor".

The counter I suggest would REDUCE harassment, REDUCE conflicts and INCREASE harmony. Nothing would stop deserters to create their on Clans or joining Clans that are more tollerant towards desertion. The game is the same.

Clans ALREADY filter out applicants based on donation numbers, stars, th level, and so on, all stats INCLUDED in the public profile. Nothing will be worse, only BETTER.

See, humans are a gregarious species. We like to be in groups of similar people, apart from different people. Anything that helps us achieve this, is GOOD.

Note that I'm not suggesting a penalty, I propose only transparency.

The cost to implement the desertion counter is minimal, and the whole community will approve.

You need to remember who you are complaining about here. Either the player leaving is leaving because you have a poor clan and/or poor leadership, or they are leaving because they have questionable moral integrity. For the sake of argument lets assume you are a wise and effective leader, so this must be one of those d-bags that hangs you out to dry. 2) You start war
3) D-bag wants to leave but can't (SUCCESS!!! He is stuck with you now!!!)
4) D-bag is a d-bag and wants out, so he decides to get kicked out
5) So he fills war castles with goblins and wallbreakers
6) And fills donations with goblins and wall breakers
7) And turns your clan chat into something that makes global look like bible study
8) And defames your clan on global
9) Then wastes both attacks in the war anyway
9a) Set their base up so it is super easy to 3*
10) And continues to fill war requests with ♥♥♥♥ troops
11) Maybe even comes to the forums to badmouth you and your clan
12) You kick them out
or
12) Your other clan members leave because you won't kick out the D-bag

Remember, this is already a person who doesn't care if they hurt your clan. Long story short, you are requesting a way to force people who don't want to be in your clan, who you don't even want in your clan, to be stuck in your clan. NOTHING good can come of this. These are all excuses, penalties should be imposed on those people who either dont attack or leave clan during wars. It is as simple as that, WHERE IS NOW FAIR PLAY FROM SUPERCELL?

Those 3 ideas are all not very good to penalize people. I think that they should simply have a longer war timer and/or should not get war loot.

This should be amended so it is if they voluntarily leave and not kicked during war.
There should be a cool down period of 2-5 days

I believe they mean Only if you are in the War not in the clan.

No. 3 is not a good idea ! We leave our clan to get haste and other goodies from our parent clans ! I think not using attacks should be punishable .

I like the idea with #3 due to the fact that even a person you know personally can even get out of the clan during wars.

all are terrible especially number 3, I like to move from my main clan to our feeder clan usually

Imagine if everybody is offending a guy for making a bad war attack, and then he want's to leave, he can't join another clan for 72 hours, i really don't like that one

3 os the only reasonable idea. And Only if there are in war, if they arent they should be allowed. However they still can be kicked.

It does not make any sense you let the good suffer with the bad because your clan may be doing something wrong that you are against or you need to leave for someone needs you whatever the case may be i think you should only impose these penalties if they do not use both attacks

This will have so many problems. Number 1 I dont care about cuz i dont attack at all. #2 You cant stop people from joining a clan. I always leave my clan during a war to clan hop. #2 would probably stop me from warring. #3 is also stupid. So people can join, but while there still is a war people cant leave? Thats very harsh. There is also a whole list of problems for both #2 and #3. Those problems are for clans with sister clans. Nobody could actually join their sister clans during a war. #2 and 3 would also pose a large problem for req n' leave clans. They couldnt war at all if they actually wanted to still be in business. Another problem would be for clan hoppers. They couldnt actually be in a war and still clan hop. Most high leveled players want to also have fairly high war stars. Another problem with #2 and 3 is the fact that some people might join a clan for maybe like a minute, then leave it because they didnt like it or they were even clan hopping and waiting for their army to finish training for about a minute. But while they were there, a co or the leader started a war search even though that person was going to leave soon. When that search finds a clan, then that person couldnt join another clan or leave the clan that they were in for the war. Another problem that could occur was the fact that some people leave the clan theyre in during a war to get max troops in their main clan, then go back to the clan they war in to attack. So finally, in conclusion, this will never be implemented into the game because of the large loss of money that will occur to supercell because clan hoppers and staff in req n' leave clans cant donate at all.

A longer cool down period would help.

We need to keep out of clan forb72 hrs.

It happened to us just recently about a month ago, we recruited a member from global, He was base number 1 and he left without attacking. We would have been happy if he used a barch army and attacked very low bases instead of leaving without attacking.

I think SC should just make the rule, if you are in war you must attack before leaving the clan. But this will cause people to simple place a troop on a two bases, end the battle and than leave the clan.

We need something more, that would deter someone from leaving in the middle of a war. Not sure but we need more ideas.

I think no.1 is good but no.2 and 3 can't be applied as all people who spy will face problems and also some people went to their friends clan for troops which they can't get in their own clan.
No.1 is good but there is a change in it that penalty is made on only those player who don't use even a single attack in war

So, should someone be punished for leaving clan during war. Would you differentiate between leaving during preparation day or 2 minutes left in battle day after using both hits? What if they were opted out and were opted in against their objections?

As deplorable as it is to leave without using hits, I don't believe anyone should be forced to stay in a clan they don't want to be in. This freedom should be preserved.

The next consideration, should someone be punished for expressing this freedom. I believe they should, if they were opted in, there is then a moral obligation to hit twice during war and a failure to do so should be punished. However, the difference between leaving during war and being kicked should be acknowledged.

The punishment is simple, I would advocate a counter in a players profile for all to see. Something like Clan Wars Abandoned. This will undoubtedly encourage loyalty, until the end of the war at least.

#3 is Great. Implement it Right Away.

Leaving during a war is plain rude and the penalty for leaving during a war should be that the offender should not be able to join another clan for one week.

this would be my thought: if someone does not use both of their war attacks AND is not in the clan when the war ends, they are given a double length war codlin. only idea I can think of.

This would be a very cruel and unusual punishment. You wanna know where cruel and unusual punishments are deemed illegal. The great United States of America. People also leave clans for legit reasons, and then come back to attack. They might leave to help out their sister clan, or to visit a friends, or even to get better troops. Even though it may be rude (only if they dont come back) doesnt mean you can just ban them from joining a clan for a week.

Love it! Maybe not make the leave button unavailable. But they should not be able to join another clan for 72 hours seems fair.

Deserters is a clan leader mistake, do not add strangers to wars. If your clan leader do bad war casting need demote button or kick out that bad one.
Or your clan is so bad, if members leaving?
Kid leader? Jealous on troops? Red war log? Do not punish others for your own mistakes.

Some other online games I have played have a search resource that has players clan or alliance history.
If this was available it would highlight jumpers and leaders could make decisions with more information.
I think some of the issues could be fixed if Clan search had more categories to help refine the process of finding a clan that your happy to stay in.

I fully agree to thread creator. Why not these leachers should be punished who only join to bluff clanmates for troops and quit during war. Every war costs too much for those who fill cc and then its very irritating if anyone leave without making attack. Though all war participants can make attack even if one choose to leave so it's just a matter of ethic and loyality. No state rules out penalizing to defaulters.

Do not punish others for your own mistakes! Do not take to war strangers, except that ones, whos targets clan easy can cover.
