[ask] Ballonion war attack strategies

I've tried to search for attacking strategies for Balloonion, especially for clan war which doing 3stars but most of guides i found are for farming.

I've doing some experiment in clan war but I'm quite disappointed with the results. but hey, I've seen some using Balloonion and they doing fine in the past clan war! so I've been wondering where did i do wrong. Hope that people who is experienced with Balloonion in Clan wars could help me out !

My troops level :
TH 9
Balloon lv 6
Minion lv 2
Heal lv 5
Rage lv 5
Barb lv 5
Arc lv 5

Army Composition :
28x Balloon
30-34x Minion
2x Barb
10x Arc
2x Heal spell
2x Rage spell

How I did in my experiments :
-put down 2-3 balloon to lure out the CC troops while destroying one of defenses (A/T or W/T or maybe AD if they close)
- 2 barb to lure out the cc troops to the corner of the map
- Arc and minion to clean out the cc troops in the corner of the map
- spread out all the balloon at one or two side of the base, which is depends on the base.
most of the time, the base i attack have AD in the core, so i spread them to kill the W/T
- immediately spread out the rest of minion behind the balloon. usually have around 20minion spare
- Heal spell used when the balloon are in W/T range area
- Rage are used when the balloon closing to AD

Results :
Tried to attack th9 war base, failed many times
Tried to attack th8 war base, 1 success and 1 failed

I know my minion is low level, but I saw the upgrade of minion isn't so much significant. Do I underestimated high level minion? should I really maxed out minion too? Did I using Balloonion in wrong way?

Anyone could help me out here?

balloons are at most a 2 star strategy and not too reliable... AQ usually messes up any miniball attack if the ads don't fry the army first... dragons and balloons you may have better luck and i'm sure there's a decent one with the lava hound...

Pro Tip

Forget heal and get another rage or lightning. With your barracks use 24 balloons, dragon and the rest minions. Level up minion to 5 because with a rage spell, they become goblins on steroids. You can also check Hulkfiend's holo guide.

Lighting is for CC and rage is to bust up the base. Dragons are good at frying CC troops unless they're max wiz.

Basically, balloonion strategy is a 1 or 2 star strategy.
your new composition:
24 loons
20 archers
40 minions
2 heal spells
2 rage spells

how it's done:

1. Lure out the cc with an archer if possible, if not, try using 2 balloons
2. Take the cc into a corner with archers
3. If it is a ground cc which can target air (wizards, archers, but witches dont count), drop a balloon a little bit in front of them and as they shoot the balloon down, it will drop on them and kill them by the splash damage. If it was any other troop, try killing with archers by surrounding them and maybe a minion or 2 on top of them.
4. You shouldn't just randomly place loons, you must put the amount of loons that is needed for taking out the specific buildings.
5.always drop the rage spell sooner than balloons and then drop the balloons to go in the rage spell.
6. Use healing spell, when balloons are at red health bar.
7. Place one minion for every building that is out of range, normally you would have about 20 minions left in the end.
8 . When you have a guaranteed 48%, drop all minions in one place which is the closest path to the town hall and try to clear the buildings there.
9. Drop both heroes (king before queen as a meat shield), in the path to the town hall.
10. Use the kings ability as you reach the town hall.
11. Use the queens ability at the last seconds of her health.

Lvl2 mins. That's half your problem.. The minions do the clean up work. Step it up

The cheapest troop vs CC (wiz,archers,barbs) is 1 balloon, when ballon got hit the fallen splash kills all cc troops

- spread out all the balloon at one or two side of the base, which is depends on the base.
most of the time, the base i attack have AD in the core, so i spread them to kill the W/T
This technic is hard to get 3 stars, unless the base is weak. You should use 3-4 rages then.

- immediately spread out the rest of minion behind the balloon. usually have around 20minion spare
You lv2 minions are not strong enough to destroy the buildings, catch up with balloon and stay on line behind the balloons. I would use more balloons (30-35) and minions just to clean up.

- Heal spell used when the balloon are in W/T range area
- Rage are used when the balloon closing to AD
Personally i prefer use healing spells (4 when i was TH9 and had lv2 minions) and had no problem 3 starring TH8-9 in CW, but my loonion technic is different.

I think my biggest failure using the loons are randomly drop the balloons without considering the exact number of loons needed. I need to experiment on this one. but nice guide you giving, I'll try it out in next few wars.

so much to learn in his youtube channel.
After few trying on loon attack, i thought it's better to use the dragons.
but seeing him using miniball to get to top ten of the world, i now think that miniball is good combo and one of most easiest to upgraded.

wooaa.. i just knew about the splash damage the loons done in his defeat.
basically, full rage on weak bases and heal on strong one right? I need to do some experiment to see which bases work well with full rage and full heal.

Balloonion needs lots of practice. It's often a two-star strategy.
