Haven't read further in the thread than this, but it's totally what I do when I'm raiding. Base loads, take a peak at what's available. If it's enough, scope out the base- storages surround by skull walls (and not on the perimeter); probably going to skip it- pure barch with no minions or wb in the mix means mortars can just pound my duders into dust before I get anything.
I personally have noticed that I get attacked less as I have gotten more and more skull walls. I'm up to around 100 now (been slowing down a lot with Destiny out now), and it seems like others in crystal are less likely to attack a base with skulls than other bases.
Yeah its worth it. Before going to th9 . Cause they said its hard to find a loots in th9 than th8
It does matter. I almost ran out of time 3 starring a TH9 with all skulls. It took me 1 minute less to three star the base ranked above his who had all pink walls.
Yup, worth the time and effort IMO, esp at TH8.. once you get near 100 or so done (about half way) Barch attackers drop off (pure barch) and BAM too for the same reasons. IME if you put them off at TH8 you will always be putting them off, till your defenses max out. (then you have sleeping builder syndrome)
though I would not delay an upgrade at the expense of idle lab and more than one/two builder(s).. makes more sense to upgrade if that is the case.
However, if you do them/plan them, while you grind up your elix projects early on..they help more in the end when you have max(ing) turrets. Plus now you can use elix for them post update. so if your elix projects are finished, then walls are a good elix sink now..
people get all tied up on the fact that it takes the same no of WBs to bust through lv 7 walls, and while that is true, its does not account for Gobs,Giants,Barch h_acking away at wall pieces... while turrets deal death out..not to mention the occasional (to frequent depending on league) Royal stuck on a wall segment while time ticks away and/or defenses wear them down. well placed turrets can ruin an attackers plans if his/her troops are caught on walls. Royals are still ground troops! walls slow them down! Trust me on this.
And as mentioned, if you think the wall grind for 8 is expensive or long, it only gets worse. if you want legos or lavas do you really wanna do them ALL in TH9? on top of lvl8s? (forget about it if u have anything lower too!!) ? AND on top of other defenses?
other defenses WILL take priority in TH9 to get up to snuff, integrating walls becomes a tough task, as its hard to justify a few pieces of wall when a few more "wall-piece-costs" can be a turret upgrade, that will deal damage. not just slow them down.
They are very worth it granted they are not as big of an upgrade as Lego's will be next since it adds an additional wall breaker which is huge but still. The players in here saying they are just for looks are low level players which is fine but you need to figure out what type of heights you wanna reach not let them.
Having g higher walls not only intimidates but often times stops the 2 or 3 stars since by that point its their arky that has to break through them. Will walls stop a 1 star. No.... Maybe not even the 2 but they will stop the 3 stars. Not to mention they will protect loot better when people use farming armies.
I disagree with the loot being better in th8. Th9 gives you the ablity to take down a lot more bases with better loot. You can look at that loot all you want as a th8 but you probably won't get it.
as for walls, I'm working on skulls right now. I really hate these walls. They don't look good at all, even in completion. Legos fully complete looks tamed and intimidating
