Clan Search Issue

I have read the FAQ, and this problem does not meet the same criterion noted.

Our clan is named "Blackwater Ops" (minus the quotes). When performing a clan search using this exact spelling, another "Blackwater Ops" appears, but ours does not. As of 0450 UTC, a clan search yields only the other Blackwater Ops, plus a lot of other results that have either "ops", "black", or "blackwater" (with various capitalizations) in their name, but only one that actually matches the search term. I find it difficult to believe that two (or even 10) is too many of a name to display.

A colleague of mine would like to join our clan, but cannot since he cannot find it. I tried leaving a message in global chat, but he never saw the message. It was like we were in separate global chats, and could not find a way to get in sync.

Any hints or help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I am running into this problem as well. I have friends of friends wanting to join our clan. The search field is still giving us the "No Search Results Found" message. Given the known issue it is likely the "!" at the end of our name. The biggest problem we are running into -- is there is no other way to find us. Despite being a larger clan - when you search for us without the "!" there are so many new clans with the same name without the "!" that ours can't be seen in the list. Any ideas when this Bug might be fixed? --- it is really hurting us with recruiting and I so hate bringing in people from Global - too big a gamble. Clan name is Fire Dragon! - If you want to search to verify it's not something on my end - Clan Size - 41/50 (if that helps with search) at the moment since we can't recruit effectively. I also experienced the same problem, since after the maintenance I can't find my friend's clan name, also with an exclamation point (!) at the end of its clan name, it must be the update. Hope they will fix this soon as I would really like to join the said clan Asap...

I have found one way around it ... of course not everyone will want to do this though. An "Elder" or above can "Friend" you on Facebook and send an invite through the "friends" tab of the league/trophy page. Granted it's a real pain in the (you know what) but at least it's something until they are able to fix it. Hope this helps you out so you don't have to wait too much longer to get in your preferred clan - Be Well - Rob

add on facebook and both link COC on it. is the way i see it. someone make a new clan and have both send a group massage. then go back to the old clan. the guy can now look you up and see the current clan your in and can join by that. as for the global chat. it is not really "GLOBAL" you get put in a local area. ex canada, aus, china

Thanks for the facebook suggestion, but neither of us has a facebook account associated with the CoC account. [In fact, I don't even have a facebook account at all and do not plan to change that.] I associate with Game Center (as I am using iOS), he associates with his Google+ (he is using Android).

I found information elsewhere that confirms one of the comments above about "Global" chat. The chat is by presumed locality (so we should be OK on that front, since we are both are in the US), but there are multiple streams even within a locality that appear to be selected either when you start the game or when you start Global chat (not sure which, but I think the former is more likely). This makes it very difficult to use Global chat to recruit a specific account if they cannot see your clan in search.

I have not been able to find the clan since the update. I am sure CoC is working on it so will be patient to see how this pans out.

And yes the clan is still there cos my friends have confirmed they are all still in the clan.

anyone heard of anything from CoC?

we suspect it might b the asterisks that the clan search function is not recognising ...

So far SuperCell has been quiet on this issue. I don't know if the asterisks are a problem or not, but since the clan search has problems with simple searches (like for our clan, just upper- and lower-case alphabet, no numbers, no symbols) it would not surprise me that it would have problems with non-alphabetic characters.

Although asterisks are part of the normal character set, so they should be OK. In some search programs asterisks could be used to indicate wild cards, but I don't think the clan search has a wildcard capability.
