Personally, I don't like this. It is much easier to farm dark elixir, than it would be to do this. Plus, the heroes are a good dark elixir sink, and they are worth it!
Please make this happen supercell !
Basically, a hero now uses DE and EXP instead of DE and time to upgrade. I like this for a few reasons:
1. It allows us to use our heroes in battle, which is particularly nice.
2. It promotes activity.
3. As you can "buy" experience with gems, SC HOPEFULLY won't lose too much money.
There is one thing I would like to say, and that is that people who aren't as active may have a pretty big disadvantage. You could make it so that heroes gain A BIT of XP over time (maybe 50 per hour?) so that people who aren't active aren't completely hopeless.

Msybe you can't buy experience, but upgrade them with DE like now.
i voted no, but not because i dont like it, but i believe your argument is mainly because of wars, i think you should be able to use him and aq in war even if theyre upgrading,at the level they are at end of prep day (just like my mortars upgrading get used in the defense) to me thats the fix, lock heroes in upgrade but dont lock them in war
why i say it this way, just with everything in the village, upgrading has the cost of vulnerability, upgrading your best barracks to level 10 but the rest are level 6 or 7? well, you gotta live without those extra troops for awhile and the space to train them, you want a better mortar? well you get attacked with less to stop them (im currently upgrading all mortars at once.. not fun) so just as barracks make your attacks suffer, loss of a hero, well, technically the hero not having a weapon as the builder works on it, your attacks (but should be out of war only) suffer..
this game is for the patient
although the xp would just be another thing to grind for like loot, but i see one flaw in your idea, whos to say. i dont trophy drop to less than bronze and wipe out a whole base with my BK and AQ solo
i did, a 50 of 100 penalty actually isnt heavy enough except for for aq, cause th7 is where challenges actually start to appear, but a th6 for someone with th8, not very challenging, much less someone at th7 with BK attacking a 5, i mean 2 good base at th 5 is no where near as hard as a good base at th7. point being, say i wanted an easy BK upgrade, i just drop down to low silver then and pick on all the th 5 and 6s ,bring maybe a few wb and a few giants, the rest of the base is practically gonna be useless against BK, especially if a healer is brought along, quick xp from that, then go up again to get more DE, the only reason it does help tho, is that you still need DE so cant just STAY in those levels to get ahold of all the upgrades
Exactly..you just solved your own problem hahahaha. It's REALLY hard for a th8 to get DE to upgrade the heroes, so if you are a th9 trying to raid th7 and th6, it would have a huge loot penalty, which is not gonna make it worth it. Plus, nobody would want to drop trophies JUST to upgrade heroes. Can you imagine how much gold and elixir you are going to waste with that? It's a lot more useful to use a strategy to try to get loot AND upgrade your heroes at the same time.
