I think you got a great concept here. Good job on writing such a detailed post!
Psychic spell looks extremely overpowered to me though. Using one spell can destroy quite some defence and in the meanwhile disable it. Comparing to the freezing spell, seeing that this even makes defences fire at other defences and the fact that it lasts SUPER LONG. 5 One minute spells that make 6 defences fire, can with ease take down an entire base.
I don't really have suggestions for other spells, but I will think about it.
