TH Sniping: A guide
Let's say you want a ton of DE, but raiding hasn't been netting you more than an average of 100.
Or you're a TH7 starting out aiming for that barbarian king.
Or maybe you just want a ton of trophies so you can get into the good clans that donate crazy good troops, or just get to where the loot is at quickly after dropping a bunch.
Th Sniping may be for you.
Very simply it's just finding a farming base with an exposed TH, and then destroying it to get one star before ending off.
You can pair this up with collector snipes or zapping to get some extra resources without dropping trophies, simply peel off any layers surrounding drills or collectors and then just blast away.
But most of the time you just want the TH for the league bonus and the trophies.
You usually just want to use archers for this, their range and high dps allows them to get at more badly placed TH's while their quick training time and low costs allow you to snipe quickly. However feel free to use your heroes and some handy minions from time to time to speed things up or save a snipe if you have them.
10-20 archers can take out any TH in decent enough time.
Sounds easy right? Well it would be if it wasn't for another darker side of CoC.
The TH Trappers.
These people aim to get people to give them trophies by leaving their town hall out surrounded by traps and high range towers like archer towers.
Any hapless pusher that falls for it stands to lose a large number of trophies to them and gets nothing back while they get easy trophies.
There are signs that a TH is trapped, but most of the time you just want to use disgression when finding bases.
Certain signs are:
- TH Placed away from the edge, this usually indicates that it's surrounded by teslas or traps. Trickle in one archer at a time to clear out the traps and then send in your BK to tank the teslas while your archers clear them out. If you don't have a BK just spam archers at the teslas and hope for the best.
- Th surrounded by walls. If it has gaps in front of it it's likely surrounded by teslas but most of the time they just want to screw with people not using archers. As long as you don't attack the one with the gaps you should be fine.
- Archer/X-Bow tower covering the TH, Most archer towers higher up can easily one shot archers and X-Bows can shred archers to pieces, combine it with the high rate of fire of the towers and the high hp of the TH itself and you have a situation in which your army will slowly wilt away into nothing forcing you to drop. I suggest keeping an emergency full clan castle in case your archers get taken out but really to avoid this you should just bring at least 50+ archers with you each time you snipe.
- Mortar covering TH, The mortar has a very high range and can one shot any archer of equal level to it. This means your 10 archers can become no archers in one shot. To beat this you need to send your archers in using groups, or trickle them in slowly to abuse it's slow rate of fire.
- Most other towers do not have enough range to stop archers easily so unless they're placed right next to the TH you shouldn't need to worry about them (And if they are just skip the raid if they're to strong).
Other general tips:
- Have a video on while you're sniping, It can get incredibly boring just sending in archers every couple of minutes for hours on end so a video helps stave off boredom.
- Always use a farming base while sniping so you only lose about 10 trophies instead of 20+, it saves resources, trophies and helps out your fellow snipers.
- Leave plenty of gold in your storages just in case you hit a dry spot for a while and burn a lot of gold, remember if you can't find anybody to snipe, stop searching and then start searching again to refresh the listings.
- If you're using your heroes, exit the battle as soon as the TH goes down so they don't lose health and have to regen.
- If in doubt, next. Although nexting may cost a lot of gold, bear in mind one screw up sets you back 3 snips and means you can't use those troops to get a league bonus and it also wastes a lot of elixir and time. Better safe than sorry.
Using this method i managed to go from silver I to crystal II and max out both my BK and my minions at th7.
That should be it, post anything i missed or if you liked the guide.

Critical for lower level TH's sniping their way up: When in doubt, next.

I would also add to be be careful not to accidentally drop troops on a village you dont want to attack. As mentioned it can get boring. you turn away and instead of pressing next you drop an archer. FML.
