Evolving Strategies Post 4th Air Defense

So, as we all know, there is a popular strategy with 10-11 dragons with 3-4 lightning spells, in "trophy land", which has become nerfed with the addition of the 4th Air Defense.

I thought to share a screen pic, below showing how this is playing out after one day. Note that the third raid failed in this screen pic, even with 11 dragons (yes, it was 4 rage and not 4 lightnings, but I didn't have a clean example within one screen pic to show you). Attacking a base with 4 maxed AD's is hard with dragons and balloons now as expected (or intended).

Now, notice the second from top raid, here the person is using four level 3 golems, and a few Pekkas and giants, again 4 rage (lol, who doesn't use 4 spells, ugh). Yet, he only did 12% damage. Failure due to lack of diversity in army mix.

Now, notice the top raid, which is the point. We must all be Darwinian evolvers and go with the flow, change thy army! Here, the person used two max lvl golems, 5 pekkas, a level 30 BK, a level 30 AQ, 4 rage spells... but the wizards and archers helped. I don't know how to do video replays, nor do I want to learn it, as Iain thinks I'll post a naked dance, for some odd reason,... anyways, back on topic... Mix it up, folks and have fun!

Hard enough for those of us in 3 x AD land :D

But then we're not crazy enough to use anything like 11 dragons.

More ground troops, Giants [if I can get to all 3 ADs before they die, throw in healer] , wbs, a tonne of Barbs/arch and then yer gobbies. That's what's working for me Vs 3 AD

Nice sharing, do you think the top raid could have won using other units which take less time to raid, say more giants and wizards instead of 5 pekkas? I am trying to keep my entire army trained within 45 minutes with just 1 rage - yup, I am a non-gemmer in trophy land (2300-2400 currently) :)

Perhaps... in this particular raid, the raider used the max lvl golems to shield his heroes. The guaranteed 1 star from busting thru to the central TH (well, in my layout anyways) was from the lvl 30 AQ. But, the additional damage beyond that was the medley of Pekkas, archers, etc, etc. 78% damage, 2 star, is rather high against a relatively maxed out base, regardless of trophy level.

One can say, poopoo, that fella has max level 30 Heroes, but I defended successfully against raids with both BK and AQ at lvl 30s. It's the unique combinations of various army mixes that is the challenge and fun. I swear, I've fiddled with so many variations of L6 war balloons (err, that kamikazee splash damage is extremely weak and misses, btw) before I found a mix that I like now.

Anyways, I saw the flaming in another thread, and there IS skill involved in higher troph land. People are already adapting, and it's not just 11 dragons plus 4 Thors, repeat, over, and over. Particularly now with the 4th AD.

I think they should have the healer now help out dragons :D

Really interesting attacks and results. The second from top didn't have heroes (probably sleeping) and still attacked you with slow-moving troops. ;)

This is very good to hear, and gives non-gemmers a chance to be at high trophies :) I looked at your base and I am not even sure if using 2 golems and a heavy farming army (45 minutes to train) with 1 rage that I can punch through to the center and take down that town hall. Will see, still waiting 6 days for my DE Barrack to be able to make golems, and maybe I will see you on the battlefield one day. I should be in your league after 1-2 days :)

Hahaha won't help much if the AD is doing close to 300 damage per shot anyway. xD

Please tell me that that attacker is a new gemmer who has only recently decided to hunt cups... Because if THAT base is what one needs to have 2700? I'm going to go play Dungeon Defenders on the Xbox instead. Helpful as always, Illy. I took that first attacker's base as a cautionary tale...

Thanks! Not sure which base you are referring to, but it's easier for me to post rather than people to look up clans, etc. So these three attackers are below. Their base strengths vary widely, at this trophy range as shown below, but that's true everywhere I guess.

But, since the 4th AD, I do see the expected emerging pattern of less dragon attacks plus 4 Thors, to increasing golems plus wizards plus rage. Subsequent to these three attacks, that pattern is definitely holding true. Lol, so many people with max level golems and max lvl heroes, it's sorta interesting to see how many players have them, burning so much DE per attack.
