Elixir To Upgrade Walls - Why It May Be Bad For Most Of Us

With the upcoming update promising to allow you to spend elixir or gold to upgrade walls, a lot of folks seemed happy, and on the surface it sounds like a great idea.

However, there are some snags I think that pop up:

1. Those of us who've been able to spend our gold and DE and not be targets for raids because higher level players didn't need our elixir will now target us for elixir raids to upgrade their walls.

2. This will make it a lot harder for TH8 and TH9 to pay for their troop upgrades as they become the target of attacks more frequently

3. This will also make it harder for us to use traditional cheap raiding troops on our attacks because we'll be facing much stronger walls

4. Which then leads us to resort to using troops that bypass walls (which not only costs us more resources to produce, but time as well)

Anyone else with thoughts on this?

I dont care about any of this... I cant wait to spend some of my maxed elixir on this.. I have nothing else to spend my elixir on

Wallbreakers are cheap. I don't see a problem.

To be honest, i think that most farmers are collector-based raiding, (at least i am). After a certain point, walls still become crazy expensive. Level 5 or 6 wb can two shot a lvl 7-lvl9 wall. (i think). After lvl 9, the walls are still 2 million elixir, which is still expensive. So your wb can still break through.

yes, collector raiding - well said.

If you are an active player, this isn't going to make any difference...that is what this game is all about.

whippee, someone raids you for 350k elixir, any active, decent player can make that up in 1-3 raids.

The reason you have max elixir is because a lot of the people you have been raiding have max or near max elixir as well. Once the update hits, all that excess lix gets dumped into walls and it's no longer available to be raided...

We're all going to be elixir starved after the update hits... But by all means, enjoy your one day of elixir dumping... You probably won't get another...

wrong. the reason is because he raids near equal gold and elixir from collectors but there is a disproportionate amount of gold required for upgrades and walls.

After premmie stuff (and some troop upgrds), there is nothing to spend elixir on (besides armies). As for gold, every defense bldg, walls, etc.

If you raid collectors this will not effect raiding at all.

except that people who had been sitting on huge stores of elixir now spent it all on walls... elixir will be a lot harder to come by then it used to be

I have max elixir since I spent it all early to max my base elixir-wise. This is correct, I get all my loot though collectors anyways....

READ what I wrote. raid collectors (both gold and elixir equally full). Thus idgaf how much anyone has in their stores.

Honestly I think the biggest impact this update will have will be that more TH8s will stick around and get all skulls before going to 9. Legos are still going to be a million, so it's not like people are suddenly going to be able to farm 1 Lego per raid now. And if they are farming lavas do the math; that puts them at or close to the storage cap at TH9. At TH10 someone farming lavas will likely usually have between 100-350k of each resource available. It's not like supercell is allowing people to deposit every drop of a elixir and piece of gold in to a construction fund for future use.

Look at the issue from a TH8 and lower. Walls will be max'd quicker, elixir willl be vital to research higher troops, and storages will be used more frequently to protect it. Fewer collector raids for there will be fewer players leaving it unprotected.

What i think will be one result is a very dramatic increase in BARCH attacks and at lower loot levels. Cost will matter. Shields at lower storage levels means more reliance on maxing collectors and more frequent log ins to empty collectors. Nesters are gonna be screaming until they realize the 200k looting days are over.

Well For TH7s they can still farm TH6s, who can not dump elixir in to their walls.

Like you I predicted the disaster that is now unfolding and was poo-pooed by others as scaremongering.

One big upgrade of walls/ barracks is all this update gave......and now there is NO LOOT. ( particularly lix)

The wall upgrade should have been limited to level 8 or even 9 walls to prevent this...... I can see the end of my CoC career looming.

Man idk about u guys but.... Plenty of loot today in crystal 3.... Nothing under 250 each. Have to press next a few. Already have started two Arch towers, some lvl9 walls and still have 4mill each.. Lots of loot last few days

The entire process of upgrading walls looks like a run-around - you raid (using your elixir), you upgrade (with your elixir), you get raided (for your elixir), repeat.

Wake up, man.... the whole GAME is a runaround! :)

People are not only dumping gold into walls, now they're dumping excess elixir into walls as well.

Strange how DE used to be such the precious commodity. Now I am overflowing with DE in Master 3, but running out of elixir to raid with.
