TH9 upgrade order

Decision making problems :)...who doesn't encounter them hehe

So I'm 1 month old th9, maxed out th8 (except for walls, 1 barrack and some troop/spell upgrades)

currenly I have :

Gold based (5MM to spend) :
2 Xbows (1 xbow lvl2, 1 lvl2 ready in 5 days)
1 wiztower lvl7 in 4 days
1 tesla lvl7 in 4,5 days
1 mortar lvl7, 3 cannons lvl11
4th tesla still lvl3 cuz i wanted to do some bigger upgrades (and not have all >5 mm upgrades left at the end)


Elixer based (5MM to spend, 40k DE to spend):
2 drills lvl4, 1 barrack lvl9, 1 dark barrack lvl4, rest maxed out

Lab upgrades:
currenly upgrading hogs lvl5 (done in 7,5 days)
barbs,archer,heal and lightning lvl5
pekka,healer lvl2
golem, witch, valk lvl1
minions lvl3
rest maxed

BK lvl10, AQ lvl5

We war 3x per week (almost all wins), quite active farmer in crystal 3;

Should I upgrade:
* AD, wiztower or tesla ?
* Upgrade dark barrack, drill, DE tank or wait for update?
* Use DE for AQ and bring to lvl10 or do I save up for golem/witch upgrades in 7,5 days (at normal rate i farm about 5k DE per day)

I am exact same as you (maxed TH8 w/170 skulls) about 2 weeks behind you.

Here are my plans:

2 builders on xbows until they are L3 (amazing for gunning down common farming armies plus they look awesome).
1 builder alternating on DE drills until maxed.
1 builder on AD until L6
1 builder alternating tesla and wiz until both L6.

If I get high storages of gold or DE I upgrade a defense to max TH9 level or I upgrade AQ.

BK is 9 and AQ 5.

I think the order of things you named are really close. So close that it doesn't really matter that much. I'd say go where the resources take you (g/e/de/time). I would advice to focus a bit more on dark elixir gathering because 5k a day for an active farmer is kinda low I think. Feels casual. Try 30k (for starters) and see most of your questions dissapear.

Update is coming soon, so just act accordingly. Changes will be for the better I guess, so I wouldn't upgrade the second Dark Barracks yet.

Thanks!... I went with AD for the gold...I wait a bit with elixer (tonight i might do DE tank)....

and 30K DE per (working)day to start with?!.... could you clarify plz? I guess balloons/minions? but you'll need every raid to be around 2500-3000k DE in C2/C3 .....dunno if that's so easy ...(I do about 10-20 attacks per day). 30K DE per day would be a solution to my question though ;)

Curious as to why you put so much DE into hogs?

Personally I think putting DE into golems or witches would be better.

And why on earth wouldn't your first th9 upgrades be barbs and archers????

As for defenses, can't go wrong with AD, but I'd probably prioritize wiz tower over that.

Archers requires maxed storages thus improbable to upgrade in the beginning. Besides, elixiers are better used to max DE drills and storages.

Crossbow to lv3 first.

DE Drill

Max AQ should be the priority. Will make gold farming easier once maxed and the overflowing DE could be used for DE troops upgrades.

Also one month into TH9. 10 King 11 queen. Both xbows are upgrading to lv3 atm. 1x lv7 wiz and 3x lv6 wiz. Not yet archer 6.

Giants/BAM/Queen/(maybe 1 Heal) is a really strong and fast army. Get in, take the Dark Elixir, Heal the Queen and get out. Easily done at Crystal III en Gold I 1500 Dark Elixir can be found reasonably fast. So 20 attacks nets you 30k.

In the weekend maybe double so 120k over the weekend. The cute thing is, you don't have to be doing this all the time. If you don't overstress the "must upgrade both heroes all the time" you can manage with a weekend here and there and have all the DE you want to spent.

i think the important thing everyone is missing is leaving 1 builder free to dump loot into walls

I've been TH9 for 2 1/2 months now, and here is my upgrade order. I was a completely maxed TH8 except for the valk upgrade, everything else was maxed (every single other troop, my walls, defenses, traps, BK [Barb King])

As soon as the TH finished to lv9, I put:
1 Builder on Laboratory to Lv7
1 Builder on Spell Factory to lv4
2 Builders on X-Bows
1 on AQ (Archer Queen) and other miscellaneous items/defenses

Once the 2 builders on the Lab/Spell Factory were done, I put them on Army Camps, until the Army camps were all lv7.
I kept the 2 builders on the X-Bows, keeping them constantly upgrading until they were Lv3, max for TH9
I kept and am still keeping that 1 builder on the AQ and BK until they are Lv30, max for TH9 (She is lv14 ATM, soon to go to 15, BK going to 13)

My Defense Upgrade Order:

X-Bows Lv3 - Done
Mortars lv7 - Done
Wizard Towers Lv7 - Done
Air Defenses Lv7 - 3 Done, 1 done in 4 days (alternated between wizard tower and air defense upgrades)
Teslas lv7 - All lv6 atm, will do them in 2 sets of 2 (will start them in 4 days when the Air Defense is done)
Cannons Lv11 - Next
Archer Towers lv11 - Next (will alternate between cannons and archer towers)
Walls Lv9 - Doing them whenever I have spare gold, 34 done ATM, will focus on them during tesla upgrades and after defenses are maxed
Traps - After defenses are maxed I will work on them (Giant Bombs are maxed already)

Other Elixir Upgrades
1 builder on DE drills
DE Barracks lv5 - whenever I had a a free builder and elixir
NEW UPDATE:
DE Barracks lv6 - As soon as i have a free builder these are going up so I can get the Lava Hound :)

Laboratory Upgrades:

Once the Lab finished, I immediately upgraded:
Barbarians lv6, they are one of the cheapest and fastest Lab Upgrades, and I BARCH most of the time.
Balloons lv6 - we were doing a push in a couple weeks, I used Balloonion to get to Champions (I had lv4 minions)
Archers lv6 - for BARCHing after push
Giants lv6
Minions lv5
Golems lv3 - I was able to do these 2 (mins and golems) DE upgrades because I had over 150k+ DE from push, and I was still able to keep my heroes constantly upgrading
Jump Spell lv2
Healer lv4
Heal Spell lv6 - Last elixir upgrade - just did that yesterday

Then whenever I have spare DE I can work on the DE troops that I have left:
LAVA HOUND!! (once the update comes out) :D - I use air a lot for pushing/farming, this will change my Balloonion strategy :)
Witches Lv2
Golems lv4
Hogs lv5
and Finally, Valks :P

we play almost 24/7 clanwars... so that's for the hogs (I try to use em with balloons...very strong against the right base)
I chose AD cuz i takes longer.... gives me more time to farm gold / elixer :)..

and hey.. we're 30+ clan....so playing 1 or 2 full days during weekend wouldnt make a happy wife and kids hehehe.... Yes there are more important things than CoC :).....

I agree with everything you said, cept for hog riders.

Maybe its me, but when I get hogged, they mostly blow up, and maybe 10% max, with lv 5 hogs, and it's not even an anti-hob base. Course this was after the spring update.

Makes sense with AD as they do take a while, and Air strikes are more effective anyway, so makes sense to upgrade AD.

if you farm heavily you should get to your farming troops asap... i went giants first and i recommend it if you're in c3 and gold leagues... if you just barch then get the barb then archer upg...

if you don't farm too heavily get your de collectors maxed asap and concentrate on your heroes/dark troops....

the dark wiz towers are a good upg farming/war wise.. and i would do it first as it helps alot in defending against most farming armies.... mortars can wait as lvl 6 still one shot archers.... if you're just concentrating on war get your point defenses maxed in any order....

I think i'll just go with war troops..and barbs asap.....I dont think farming with lvl6 archers is gonna make a huge difference...and i really need to upgrade golem, pekka and minions.... also found out that C2 makes a huge difference in term of DE....in C3 hardy found good DE loot... in C2 lots of 3k DE bases!

I disagree. Do the archers towers first. Same damage but you get air attacks too. Good for helping in balloon attacks mainly.
