Yup. Have fun raiding people with level 10 walls in gold league.

In before merge with sticky thread
You're totally right, it's unfair on older players. Let's not make any updates to the game, ever, since the older players had to go through it differently. Cutting the training time for troops is unfair because it makes farming easier.
It's such stupid backward logic, let's not develop faster computers because 20 years ago people were using slow computers, and we should all struggle the same way they did. Games need to advance, and if the system would have been better back then with this update, then it needs to be done- better late than never.
If upgrading walls with elixir OR gold would have been a good thing when you were doing walls, then the update should be done ASAP and you should be happy for those players about to begin their wall journey, not being a whiny little...
I think the bigger question mark and issue isn't "boo hoo, by precious walls are now easier to get and my status symbol in a free to play mobile game is deminished, it's unfair", but how this will indeed affect the elixir economy, especially for the high end player on pushes, using expensive armies. As a maxed base (buildings, defences and now with all troops maxed and nearly all upgraded to lvl 9 walls), I almost always have full elixir storages except if I'm trophy pushing. This will no longer be the case, as it won't for any active high end player. I'll still have to stock pile elixir in preparation for elixir though.
But that may be hard to do. In fact, I'm not sure being able to upgrade with elixir will make upgrading walls all that much easier in the long run.
I see what you mean as well. I thought you actually made some good points in this thread, which is why I responded to them.
Obviously we are dealing with imperfect metaphors here. Yes, there was not a single "event" or scandal in CoC that prompted this change. The point is that SC apparently has a state purpose of gradually closing the gap between the old and new. This only makes sense to me if new content is added as well (for instance releasing tesla 8 and reducing price/time on level 7).
Common sense dictates this will be the bigger one of the sneak peeks. You're actually being ridiculous, pointing towards potential updates to justify a current update. You're making stuff up in orde to justify. They cannot introduce new major loot adaptations as it would upset the economy way too much in too little time.
If you call people ridiculous, take a look at your own reasoning first. Which is in this case worth nothing.

So everyone stop upgrading their base and dumb everything on walls? Right... /sargasm off
Forgive me to my words, but this is the ♥♥♥♥tiest updates supercell will do, and it surely WILL lose many players after that "Walls can be upgraded with elixir. Only walls above Lvl 6.".
Obviously the high leveled players that strived much for upgrading their walls will mostly dislike this and will leave this game, just like myself.

Now that we can also use elixer to upgrade walls, the loot would seem to just be worse, no? Someone please shed some light on how this is "good" news.
First it's "I have no gold and nobody ever has gold, time to drop to Silver and farm"
And then all of a sudden "Nobody is going to have elixir omg omg omg." And " I used all my elixir I can't train my army omg"
There are good and bad parts about the sneak peak with walls. A good thing is that elixir is now useful for doing walls. Also, walls can get done quicker by using elixir since it is easier to find. Since many will be using elixir instead if gold for walls, more gold will be around. The bad thing is that I think it will be too easy for people to level up walls now and that it will mean much less when you complete a set of walls. On a side note,I do like the part about the live clan war raids
You guys upgraded your walls after working really hard to get that gold . GOOD JOB !! This doesn't mean that everyone else has to do it too. The game just doesn't revolve around the high levs the lower levels have the right to get some new stuff too. And they havnt even released all the sneak peeks yet you can't judge it right now.
I'm a bit bothered by your statement regarding players who are vets vs noobs who have just picked up the game recently.
The years put into this game to progress by long time players, can now be 'cut short' in just a few months for new players?
It's like saying..'I won't download that game from SC. I'll wait two years from now so that when I start, I'll be the same level with the number 1 player in a short few months since SC caters to new players'...I feel somehow, this is not right.
Make the lower levels earn it. They need to work hard for it. I can even upgrade my blue crystal walls just from my collectors alone.
I would rather have SC concentrate on THs 8 & 9 to move them faster to being a maxed TH 10, NOT the whole gang because this is where the true grind starts.
But then again, that's my opinion on this...
I'm hoping they bring back some inactive bases, and/or more collectors/mines.
I think this is gonna make the game MUCH BETTER
Based off the fact i find too much elixir all the time! Now loot should be more balanced!
Anybody know when will the update cone into effect? Like in a week or month...
Because I'm sitting on full elixir storages 😁I
You say that you spent forever farming walls and invested so much in them, yet you also say that you will quit in the blink of an eye??? Soooo apparently these walls mean so much to you, yet just because others can get them easier you will leave your precious walls and quit the game?
Seems a little contradicting to me.
TH10 grinding 250 walls:
Lv 9 Walls - 1M Gold x 250 = 250M
Lv 10 Walls - 3M Gold x 250 = 750M
Lv 11 Walls - 4M Gold x 250 = 1,000M
If the update were to be released earlier, I might have maxed my def before my walls are a complete of lv10.
So much gold, so less appreciated. Wow.
Wrong metaphor.
You are referring to a gradual change in technology. ALL people have access to these improvements, EVERYONE. Not just persons who used slower computers, but others as well. They can use the advantages equally. In this sneak peek, people are being treated differently. Only a SELECT FEW get access to these advantages, NOT EVERYONE.
To improve your metaphor: one person starts a task on a slow computer and someone else starts the same task on a a tiny bit faster computer. Nevertheless, the speed of the computer affects a certain calculation on which the first person had to spend way more time compared to the second person.

Actually, i think loot will be better. When I was at TH9 and below, I did not know what to do with my elixir. Now, they will go towards walls, so technically, there might be more gold to raid.
As for TH10s, if they did not upgrade their troops and army camps pre-update, they are pretty much screwed in terms of elixir resources. Economy just got a lot more scarce.
You people don't seem to realise this:
If this update would make elixir "just as scarce as gold", then what is the problem? People manage to get by with scarce gold, so I'm sure they can with elixir too. I farm enough gold in a casual day's playing to upgrade at least one TH9 defence. That's not even hardcore grinding either.
Geez guys, when you upgrade TH there aren't all that many lab upgrades to do when compared to defence upgrades. Get over it for god's sake.
When you reach th9, clan wars either cost a ton of lix(mass drag) or a ton of de/lix(gowiwi or gowipe)
so you will run out of lix quick or you wont be able to use the troops you worked hard to upgrade.
Yes your our walls will get done faster but at what cost. You will never be able to farm out your lvl6 archers and your camps will be tough to farm out also. Forget about lvl4 drags, lvl345 pekka
lix will dry up and you will be even more dependent on dead base collector raids.
My point is, do people really think that SuperCell has not thought over how this will affect the loot system? If you want to talk common sense then use it before you post. Common sense dictates that the company that created the game has more knowledge of it than you do and will do something to balance the loot system.
I think this update will benefits more to new players rather than old players..
Come to think of it, you made me realized that I need to grind more elixir now just to max my troops in the lab. I mean, those that cost 8mil before the update. I'm pretty worried that it wouldn't be easy to farm elixir right after the update. TH10 has few troop that cost max elixirs :D
Upgrading walls with elixir doesn't make sense, but who cares. This will reduce loot in economy and make bases harder to raid, but it's fine I guess. Upgrading multiple walls at once, although it's for convenience, I don't like the idea, no idea why XD. 1a is pretty cool. I was expecting a wall price reduction, but I guess this won't be bad either, but I don't see myself using lix for walls anywhere in the near future.
I think this is great elixir on walls.
i just think it should be lvl9+ walls....Pretty much meaning, once maxed th10 upgrades you can spend your elixir on something! I dont think it should be from lvl6+
No, that's not what I mean at all! I'm defending small (in the grand scheme of things), incremental changes that bring some hope to newer players. I'm NOT advocating that it should get so extreme that's it's better not to play, or to start later. Reducing a WT upgrade from 14 days to 12, or making walls 20% (please don't get focused on this number, I'm making it up) easier to upgrade are the kind of changes I'm referring to, not anything that allows "noobs" to catch up to vets quickly.
And my argument assumes a comparison of a "noob" and a vet who put in the exact same amount of work, plays the exact same amount if time, etc. Who should max out first? The vet, obviously. Who should max out more quickly (from the time they first downloaded the app)? The noob IMO, otherwise they would have no way to catch up to the vet, even while putting in equal time and effort, at least not until the vet maxes out (although I personally believe updates shouldn't let people be maxed for long).
No, the longest part of this game is upgrading walls and heroes. Other structures and defences are easy to max at each level. Now that walls can be upgraded using gold or elix this will cut the time in half. I am a maxed TH9 a few months ago and took a break. If I continued to TH 10, and with this new update, I will be a maxed TH10 in less than a year.
Sure this is bad for those who have been working on their walls, I only have 50ish lv 10 walls so it doesn't affect me as hard, but I still liked the grind of getting the walls so the harder the better for me to a certain degree of course. For those not liking the update do realize you are a small minority and since alot of people feel entitled to high level walls they would get it eventually. This update is definitely already has the approval of 80% or more of the clash player base, Supercell definitely did their job here. The major concern and rightfully so is elixir scarcity. This is only sneak peak one so their MIGHT be a loot system overhaul as well, but right now the worry about farming elixir is pretty apt.
The problem is not the elixir on walls. The problem is that soon there will be NO elixir like now there is no gold. Same story different resource. Supercell swing make walls able to be upgraded without builder cause everyone would use their gold. It's the same situation. They will use both gold and elixir now.
Now plsyers can dump there elixir and gold into walls b4 getting off! Way to make loot even worse
I don't post much, but I gotta say SC cannot catch a break. Everyone complains about how elix is useless then they give us a use and everyone ♥♥♥♥♥es. I just grinded out my lvl8 walls while sitting on overflow elixer. It would have been nice to have this then, but for f@ck sakes they are trying to make the game better and everyone just complains.
You CANNOT make a change in the game without it negatively effecting someone. But they are trying to move the game forward for everyone.
Wont having people dump both elix and gold on walls ruin the economy?
Has SC thought about improving the hogs so big time that they ridiculously overpowered? Has SC thought about nerfing the hogs to a barely usable troop? Has SC thought introducing the witches whom were so OP that they could 3* bases with ease? Has SC thought about the effect of introducing TH9 and TH10 shortly after one another? Has SC thought about the huge changes to royals making them half as strong as before? Has SC thought about the loot system which worked great at first but seems to lack again?
You tell me what the answers are to those questions if you were even around when all of this happened.
Common sense dictates exactly the opposite. It shows that people are not just taking everything that is being said to them for granted. They use something, i.e. common sense, to use information and thus come to their conclusions. Common sense does not dictate to listen to a company and accept everything they said just because they are the company that produces the game... Please.

Super Nice Update cannot wait when will updated
My quote was nobody cares that "you" (as in anyone) has played for 2 years. Perhaps I should be more clear. What I meant is that 2 years of playing the game does not grant you special privileges. It simply grants you 2 years of playing the game. A previous poster had suggested their 2 years was wasted as a result of recent changes. I don't think it is wasted at all. You had fun, and your base is more advanced.
You responed to that quote out of context, mentioning that I "must not have spent much time on the game" and of course automatically dismissing my opinion.
True, there is a threat that there will be even less resources, since everyone will dump everything in walls.
But don't be too quick to judge. If everyone would be droping all of the gold in walls, I wouldn't be findng 200+ gold raids on a regular basis. If some of the extra elixir is used for walls, perhaps there will be MORE gold left.
Also, not everyone will dump all of their elix in walls, since we need elix for raiding and wars.
It could just as well be a good move, we will have to wait and see.
Let's not conflate SC thinking over changes and those changes being in a player's best interest. SC is pretty good at being a business, and there are very few moves they have made that show a complete lack of thought. Sometimes moves are made not to make players happy, but to keep the business model going and to future-proof their games. This doesn't mean they aren't thinking these things through meticulously.
With the live replays we really need to see how much time is left
Ooo walls costing elixir...
Upgrading walls with elixir hmmm... this will definitely help people upgrading walls faster, but now people can dump all their gold AND their elixir into walls. Nowadays, no one can find any gold, and with this update, we won't be able to find any gold OR elixir. SC said they would improve the economy in this update. So far, I don't see how that will happen. The only thing that will help this game at the moment is level 12 mines and pumps. Anyway, now I'm ready for the skull grind
Being successful from a shareholder's perspective is completely different from being successful from a player's perspective. I have a lack of knowledge about their business and their exact model, but from a player's perspective the aforementioned remarks still stand. Some balls were dropped lately, and this is yet another one.

I don't see a problem with complain to make elixir more useful while complaining about it being spent on elixir. For one thing, people who complain about the 2nd problem might never have been complaining about the first one. The forum isn't 1 collective person with the same desires.
Also, what if SuperCell decided to allow everything to be upgraded with elixir? Very few people would want that and this idea takes the elixir spending too far.
"Don't worry, it's not what you think."
Yes, this is worse than we thought...
Lol getting lvl 8 walls just got a lot easier :)
The real question is: Why supercell is getting lazy
:D Great news, really like this one, my condolences go out to those players who have worked so hard on their walls, try to hold back the emotions until you have seen the complete update contents.
Supercell much kudos on this one, i only hope loot improvement is on the update too, and something for the maxed out players to be happy about, I'm sure you have factored in balance into your next update like you always try to do.
No I'm not a fan boy, the last update did nothing for me personally, I'm just giving credit where credit is due when I think it needs saying, you can please some people sometimes, but you cant please all the people all the time.
Economy shomonomy... Everyone complains about lack of gold...i have farmed for 2 yrs and never had a problem with finding gold...and im sure after this i will not have a problem finding elixir either......yes there have been some bad times, but overall its fine to me.
just make it lvl 9 or 10+ walls for elixir so th10 guys with nothing to spend elixir on can do walls...i do agree with a few ppl saying. Make noobs earn there walls like we did!!! Couldnt agree more
Lets pretend that I haven't already farmed all legos and 156 lava walls for a moment. Let's pretend I'm super excited for this update so that I can actually do so now... How about all the players above me...who already have?? How about those guys that spent hours a day working on something to differentiate them from the crowd and the average as the elite farmers of the game?
I am now a th10 with the walls mentioned above. I upgraded my town hall last week. For the previous FOUR MONTHS my elixir vats were completely full with nothing to spend it on while I did walls. I would be done with lavas and I would be on to zaps by now....
So how am I going to be compensated for my hard work? With a reduction in the value of my walls. :( Because now, they aren't impressive anymore. Walls were what distinguished the elite players from the great players. And now, what is there? All that work.... Gone...
well this is officially the END of clash !!! from now no one can find anything as every noob dump all their resources to their walls and after a month we have to farm villages with lvl 9- 10 walls in gold league !
Big slap in the face for those farmers and gemmers with lvl 11 walls ...
sad day :(
Not liking this at all. It's going to kill the economy. Your going to have stronger defenses so your going to need stronger offense which will be a lot harder to pay for. Clan wars is going to take a drastic dump. Now a lot of people are going to be using cheap armies instead of the best they have because it will be harder to pay for. High end troops donations are going to be long gone in general. As a mid to late TH8 I am always overflowing in elixir and am completely OK with that. Walls are a sign of dedication and accomplishment. At this point they may as well just do away with either gold or elixir and just make it once resource. Early TH9 is going to be a serious grind now. I'm struggling to see a way they can balance the economy out now. Instead of it being tough to find gold it's going to be tough to find anything. BE farming is going to be a lot more difficult now as well with elixir being a lot more valuable.
It wont affect colectors raids.
It's a great day to be a nearly-maxed TH8 with half skulls!
I'm so excited I moved my lix storages inside the walls tonight.
Actually, now I come to think of it, this exact sneak peek is horrible from BOTH perspectives. Let me explain:
Business perspective: Older players whom have spend a lot and have not shown a decrease in spending so far will be upset which has a negative effect on their expenditure on gems. Aside of that, elixir and gold costs the exact same gems. You do not push people to more spending on elixir or gold, as the gem cost (which is real money), is just the same. Gemmers are not attracted by this difference, so they won't sell more... On the contrary, they feel a bit ripped off.
Players perspective: SC is trading older players for newer players and make it twice as easy for them to get where the older players are now. Giving benefits to the one and not to the other.
To pull in a law term, this could be seen as discrimination instead of differentiation. Discrimination is treating people differently without any legit grounds while differentiation is treating people differently on legit grounds. You tell me what is happening.

Supercell's main goal as a business is to:
1) Keep the majority of their current customer base playing and purchasing gems
2) Attract new customers to the game.
Now who is the "majority" in clash of clans? Lower level players (THs 5-8) and underdeveloped players (THs 8-10). How do they keep this "majority" happy and how do they keep them playing the game?
Its not rocket science... Its simple business strategy.
I'm laughing so much at people who say this will kill the economy. Don't you think Supercell the developers of this game have thought of that.
I'm think huge right now but in my guess:
- More collecters levels
- Some sort of goblin singleplayer map that you can attack everyday, just like the respawning npc's in bb.
- Npc bases in searching.
Awesome update so far, looking forward to the rest!
Lets face it...SC care about SC's pocket which is normal....but lately they have been hurting their pocket in my view. Soon ppl wont be staying if not to careful....doesnt take much to make a great game bad.
Look at Barcelona....best players in the world....new coach changing stuff that was working great and now they cant win a game lol
Everyone gets access, apart from the incredibly small number who have fully maxed walls. Everyone gets equal access here, and those few with maxed walls will appreciate it when they have to grind lv 12 walls.
And you're actually still corroborating the point. Its making it faster for new players, letting them catch up faster- but existing players still have the advantage. Wall farming was always too big of a grind, and unbalanced resources completely. This restores parity to gold and elixir, and will benefit the playerbase long term.
Regardless of what anyone says, this is not unfair to ANYONE. The hero/hog nerf could be considered unfair, since your troops were actually weakened. Walls have not been weakened, they were just made more accessible.
And you're right- a better metaphor here is someone buying an expensive car the day it comes out, then complaining when the price is reduced later on because he had to pay full price and now more people can afford it. Terrible argument.
Elixir for walls, fine. New hero, fine. New TH, fine. SC wants a sample of my brain tissue, fine.
Since the last update, I resigned myself to just seeing if I can adapt to the new changes and whether the game remains fun for me.
Seems SC will follow whatever plan they have in mind.
Isn't that a nice change of pace from most of this thread?
This might even fix the people whining about mass drags in clan wars. After all, how many people will still mass drag when that elixir could be put into walls instead.
I'm already loving the new update!
A ton of others as well...
that gem box glitch? ♥♥♥ was up with that
Valkerie- making a troop that is useless?
leaving your townhall outside of base is a legit strategy, im sure they thought that one through right
No one from my clan thinks this elixir wall dumping will be positive for coc. However, sometimes I think, the more the community complains or hates a change, the more supercell will force it on is and not alter the change, i think there is ego involved that they know what is best for is and we need to shut up and take it
