My third paragraph was not directed at you, but at the people who are complaining about the wall changes.
Also amazing assumption (sarcasm)

I wonder how this is going to affect loot at higher levels especially th10 since they don't do as much collector raids as a th9 or definitely th8.
Way to speak your mind, especially in these forums. Well put too. My concern is that walls will go up quicker at first, but with "excess" elixir now being dumped into walls at a massive rate....soon we will have a drought in both elixir and gold. If nothing else changes for the economy, after the "wall boom"......things may be gloomy.
here's my few thoughts on the matter
so after this update you'll be able to spend elixir and gold on level 6-11 walls.
Now many of you guys are thinking that in most circumstances it'll be a bad update overall, due to decreasing elixir AND decreasing gold, but consider this point.
1. Now that gold and elixir can be used on walls, let's say people dumb both resources into walls and they have almost nothing in resources(let's go with 5k elixir left). Where will they get the resources from if they can't build an army? The obvious answer is to get them from the collectors. So in terms of this update this'll probably promote collector raids. In most cases this is a good thing, other cases it is pretty bad. Now, I don't know the number of people that play this game but I can definitely say many people will be looking for bases that you can get resources from in this method. The bad part about having to get resources from collectors(a counter so to speak) is that many people will not want to lose the resources they've obtained so they will make their base a farming base and put their town halls on the outside for town hall snipers who are just passing by. With the 12-hr shield up you can almost be guaranteed to come back online and get enough elixir to make your next army. As i'm sure these things will be happening constantly, you'll have to keep trying to find a decent base to loot(another counter for these raids). So you'll be using a lot of gold trying to find a decent base. Overall, in the end, this will make the economy better because some people will have to wait until a decent amount of elixir is available in their collectors, and that will be people's chance to get some resources. Oh, and for those of you guys that'll be saying " Oh you're only a townhall 7, what would you know about a bad economy and bad loot etc. Well I'm affected by this as well, and I've seen and read many people complain about how bad loot is how good loot is at higher th levels. I may not post much but I lurk most of the time and for seeing something like this without people even considering the pros and cons; well it's just frustrating. Also for the people that farmed these high level walls already, kudos to you! You're still ahead of the people that can use both elixir and gold to get these high level walls, and the grind will be the same either way. My point, it will still take time before newer players can get these higher level walls. Walls still have their value, so trying to get refunds for something you spent money on isn't going to do any good. Life is unfair yes, but we all gotta just pull through it eventually.
That's my viewpoint on the matter, until next time LightofMystery, signing out!
That is correct, so after a few elixir wall-upgrades from everyone the economy will get far worse and after a while farming walls will not go very much faster than today except from collector income. This will also of course benefit people like me who dont have anything usefull to spend eliksir on after they have maxed everything at their respective TH-level. Just keeping my storages low while my base gets harder to raid day by day..
Trouble? Considering how long i've been playing I think i'm doing alright. No need to think you're cool simply because you've played longer. End result is still the fact that you have trouble adapting to change, in which case you're going to have a real tough time in life all together.
No surprise whatsoever.
Two updates in a row SuperCell insist on screwing over the players who got Clash to where it is today. The players who worked their asses off to get high level heroes who were once strong, and high level walls which were difficult to do and not only made your base stronger; gave you an element of prestige.
But clearly SuperCell do not give a damn about long term members. They have bled us dry and now plan to bleed the noobs dry next.
Nothing but a bunch of selfish money hungry company. Absolutely no respect whatsoever to the long term player.
Keep digging the grave you clowns.
And warn me too for 'bad' language because this is a nanny state. Even though there is actually none in there.
so, everyone will be able to dump every gold coin and every drop of elixir into walls.
Farming will be so awesome...oh wait....nm
Hey, at least they didn't nerf the walls' HP ..... yet.
I have no trouble whatsoever adapting to change, and this update will make my farming life easier too, but that doesn't mean I should be fine with what happened and move on.
I still see no reason for people who casually farm to be able to have high level walls.
Just because I hate what Super Cell are doing doesn't mean I can't adapt to change and definitely doesn't mean I will stop playing this awesome game they made (and now ruining), but I do feel its much less of a challenge to farm walls now and IMO it shouldn't be.
People are used to get everything easy in life, guess that's how their parents taught them life goes. The real problem here is not them, but Super Cell that by those actions supports their point of view on life.
No business in the world cares about its long term customers. If you actually believe that you're going to get a golden rug layed out for you just because you started two months earlier than the other guy, then in the real world you're up for a big surprise, son.
I mean Clash of Clans is supposed to be a predominantly idle game. Boosting yours barracks for 6 hours a day and raiding non stop to grind for the walls probably wasn't their intention.
I could be wrong I do not own a crystal ball unfortunately.

You and others seem to think you're entitled to more than your fair share. It's a game, things change. They also run a business and if new players can't progress in the game because of loot than that's an issue for them. If you're a long term player than you will most likely KEEP being a long term player just as you said. So why do they need to do something to keep you playing a game you already play. No matter what they do it will never make everyone happy. Deal with it and move on.
Honestly the best use of this update that I can see is for town halls at the end of their cycles. I have a town hall 9 and a 10 both with all elixer upgrades done so thus is perfect to bleed off some of the excess as I rarely go below 7.75 million in storage even when using gowipe....level then I will probably keep myself at around 3 to 4 million in most cases just because you never know when you'll hit a drought. I think a lot of you are overestimating most peoples desire to grind walls even with this change, or have you not noticed the surge of people whose sole purpose on coc is for wars and they admittedly don't care at all about defense knowing they'll probably get 3 starred anyway. Just my personal thought but I think a lot of you are griping a bit prematurely.
I'm sorry, but what other word should I use? Long-term players? This update is making farming easier for me too, don't forget. Am I happy about this? Not at all. I'm still going to farm, it's just that everything is easier now, which I don't like. Judging by your base, you don't understand what grinding for legos/lavas is like.
There is no need to change thing that is not broken. The loot system is broken and needed to be changed but not walls prices or adding elixir into that equation.
It is a game and I love seeing changes and additions to the game such as new troops, new buildings, new gameplays and such. Even changes to the mechanics of certain troops and spells is a welcome change since it make it more challenging and exciting to play.
But this one little thing that was the real challenge for us farmers is gone now, so it will become pretty much boring.
Super Cell keeps ignoring the real problems in the games and make absurd changes. Great job Super Cell
I am also disappointed with this sneak peek, but simple logic tells them this would make loot worse(more loot being dumped into oblivion), and i give sc enough credit to know thats a bad thing....... Im assuming one of the next sneak peeks will be fixing loot. (League bonus overhaul/collector output changes)
But if not the rage will be real lol
If even SuperCell themselves agrees that the economy in the game is dry in terms of resources available to be looted especially gold, than there is obviously something wrong. This is just ONE PART of the sneak peek, we have not seen what else they are planning to help better the loot issues. Just because something is difficult doesn't mean it needs to stay that way forever. It definitely should not be even worse to grind for newer players that is the main issue here. At this rate it would be even HARDER for the newer people to get where "veterans" are today.
Best sneak peak yet
Now,the problem of barely finding gold will happen to elixir, THANKS
after 2-3 months of this update you will see every base maxed and looks like each others with defence and walls there is nothing would be left to pride about or show of with it nice SC.... you really be regret about this update i hope u can rolled back ASAP...
Hi. I'm a th7. Even though loots good for me i have not upgraded my walls, now that I can use lix i can do them quick. I fail to realize that when I get to th9 lix will be tied up in walls and i wont be able farm out my camps. And it will be impossible to get my lvl6 archer
this is the story of a young th7
Pretty sure the ideology behind these updates is to encourage veteran players to quit and to attract new players.
I believe this is economically driven.
man you guys are ridiculously unappreciative
[QUOTE=
PS prepare your ♥♥♥♥ th8s! I am going to gold league from master again to get your elixir and gold.[/QUOTE]
Come at me bro, all my resources are getting dumped into skulls
Most new people to the game do not understand the the way things in game work. They are cheering saying now they can spend that elix, ok I dare them to, they have forgotten its hard to get gold now as it's put into walls, now both will be impossible.
A complete smack in my face, a gem buyer, yes I pay at times to help you play for free, now super cell has convinced me it's time to stop buying gems, no need anymore. I must say thanks for that.
Off to a new game, wish we could sell our accounts, but ok I can remove.
Let the rants begin, but I have a good feeling most of the old people are now finished with this game when this update comes.
Saludos
Even after the update, walls will still take a significant amount of time to farm. A "casual" player (I have several of them in my clan) typically raids only a few times per day or gems everything until it gets too expensive. They don't upgrade their walls because they don't max one TH before upgrading to the next. Gold walls are so plentiful in this game because casual players never have enough excess of EITHER resource to upgrade to level 6/7. Worrying about some guy who raids a few times a week in his spare time having the same walls as you is absurd. Not to mention, whining and throwing a fit about something that HASN'T EVEN HAPPENED YET is ridiculously ignorant and immature.
And while I'm on my soap box... if there was anything more productive you were going to do with your life instead of playing this game, you would have done it. Yes, high level walls were harder to earn, but what would you have done with your time if you weren't farming for walls? Go on dates? Hang out with friends? Play sports? Save the world? I think not. You'd still be locked in your room, clashing it up while desperately trying to get 100 views on a YouTube post.
While spending elixir to upgrade walls will be helpful for me personally, I'm not sure I like that change... Hope the other sneak peeks impress...
Finally I can do something with all my extra elixir :D
Also, I cannot wait for the next sneak peak!
When is the update?
Cool, now I can do three times as many skulls per day. They should be done in under a month now
This will be a great update! Does anyone have an idea as to when this update all drop?
If we have to have this update either increaase the avail loot or why not put builder time on walls as to discourage dumping all avail loot into walls at once? Im probably going to get flamed for saying this but it would help the avail loot
So Iam assuming there will be something else that cheangesllot? Otherwise, the econemy would be.... terrible, to say the least.
I think being able to choose gold or elix to upgrade walls is great and it will make upgrading wall a lot faster, but now i will also have to face multiplayer battles with tougher enemy walls. :(
P.S im still in the newbie level.
from another point of view, and yes the negative one:
goodbye free elixir tanks outside, now it will be harder to farm elixir :/
Wow yet another useless update from a sub par developer! Instead of screwing up the game further why not focus on troop A.I or the broken loot system? You have already tailored this game to casual and just plain lazy people who could not be bothered making a decent base with poor A.I and now heroes who shred any attacker just by simply putting them in or near the core of your base. But then again you are the E.A of the phone app world! You take a formula created by another greedy company and adapt it to yours! You clearly have no interest in game improvement but only to create more revenue. I remember there was a time when companies where actually held accountable for the products they sold. Clearly that is not the case anymore. I will no longer even consider buying gems for this poor excuse for a game and i am so glad apple returned every penny i put into this game after your last update.
No more of the extra lix just vanishing into the ether. Bring on the update!
This was just a terrible decision for a first sneak peak. There better be something good to compensate for this.....
I think it will be great considering I have been sitting on max elixer storages for about a month now as I have been working on my level 9 walls....
Players will now have to manage lab, defense and army building times /costs more efficiently now.
High level trophy pushing will be alot more challenging too.
It will be interesting to see how this affects the overall economy in the long run...
Maybe SC will offer other update incentives such as increased league bonus or something along those lines....
I think the wall row upgrade update is long overdue.
Looking forward to the next sneak peak tomorrow.
Enjoy more nexting guys, supercell should add a next button acheievement too ♥♥♥♥
It's already tough trying to be a champ spending no money, as the few champs you can find to raid are all just as broke on elixir as you are, e.g. I can usually only afford to do 2-3 full-on raids per day, which keeps me with just enough elixir once my pumps do their job when I'm on shield.... every now and then I need to do some b-arch or similar, and farm people in Masters, just to get a few hundred thousand elixer back in store.
Now that elixir shortage is going to filter down to Masters, probably even all the way down Crystal, etc etc...
It's going to make life really tough on people trying to farm, TH9 is going to become rough, and TH10 is going to become really rough for anyone except those who have already maxed out (and for us, it's not exactly easy if you like to live anywhere in champs, as per above).
There had better also be "spells can be made with gold or elixir, your choice", or this game is very quickly going to lose what's left of its appeal for people at (or near) TH10...
Even with the 'loot shortage (and yes, I have, at times, complained about it as well)' gold has not been that difficult to come by. In the worst case scenario, if the same 'shortage' happens with elixir, then it is readily manageable. As it stands now, I have no elixir upgrades left and have not for some time. Even with max elixir storages, one gets only eight Lego walls (it doesn't sound like all that much with 177 left to go). I am planning on fully maxing TH 9 before going to TH 10. The upgrade will cut the time to reach TH 10 by a bit but not by a factor of two. Without the update, I was expecting a full year of most of the elixir simply vanishing.
Every explanation attempting to defend the indefensible is just garbage.
1. Players do not even NEED walls to play/enjoy this game OR to compete as proven by champ level defenseless villages.
2. Therefore, the argument that this walls change adds to longevity of game, helps new players is utter nonsense...looks/smells like saying whatever to defend super cells poor design decisions.
Walls are a prestige village item, period. Walls have been a prestige item since launch. There is no other way to distinguish yourself or build a remarkable village except for walls.
now, walls prestige is dead, and at the same time new players have gained very little...as walls have never been needed to play the game, or compete. Hogs, dragons, Balloonian etc all render walls meaningless anyway.
Every move SC is making is to erode players ability to distinguish themselves in this game. SC wants a game where every village looks the same and total equality for every player regardless of dedication or skill.
If the elixir shortage happens as predicted then the pace of wall upgrading will.... (fill in the blank).
Who wants to bet this thread will reach over 200 before the next sneak peek even comes out?
The threads keep exploding because every change made to the game is outrageously controversial.
This is wicked, thankfully im not at the point yet where all my walls are difficult. I'm like, just before that :)
You can upgrade more then one wall;)
LoL.... somewhere above 3400, it is, yes. You can get to 3200 with zero gems, just patience (and enough skill to win attacks vs maxed bases helps), and in fact with enough patience you can climb further, to at least 3400 if not beyond, again zero gems required. It's only really when you get to the point where it's nearly impossible to find decent cup offers, that you need to start gemming in order to make enough on attack, to off-set your losses on defense. I'm not sure yet where the cut-off point is, but I've personally been over 3400 twice recently on pure casual play, and generally only drop back due to lack of skill / patience.
Hopefully SuperCell's agenda isn't to kill of the ability for the casual gamer to reach champs, and even live there (near the bottom, not the top!), without needing endless gems...
Maybe SC should add a ranking system based on your GG, and have a symbol show up to the right of your name in every chat, much like your league symbol. Only way to really categorize the elite farmers now. Walls were farmer's trophies..
Finally.. A use for elixer
Thumbs up for SC! For posting this announcement here at general section first, and let players to speak out their thoughts, for what will the possible risk in doing this kind of changes about walls...
I think its enough for them to hear whats with the players supplications, and yet it still up to them if they will continue this update...
nothing we can do! Stay or leave!
For an overview, yeah it looks unfair for those players who just maxed out their walls using gold without any other choices,
They ignored the time, effort, and money spend of old players.
Also take a look on players that still needs more elixir for upgrading troops, as elixir will be difficult to hunt...
Actually my walls are at lvl7 only ( long way to go ). but i much prefer to use gold on upgrading it. And reserving my elixirs for my troops creation and upgrades, also for upgrading unit that needs elix. (Maybe somtimes, bleh)
i visualize the upcoming update for what will be the possible outcome. Shortage of elix, some players will decide not to join wars... More time and effort to reserve, more gems to spend...
its a big NO for me, NO for old, new or at the middle class...
Yet, SC should think about it, they still have an option wether to release it or not!
"Elite farmers"? Really? I...I don't even know where to begin. If this update upsets you this badly why don't you just take a break for a while, wait for the rest of the update details, if you're still unhappy than quit. Stop over reacting to something until you get the bigger picture. And elite farmers, sorry I just had to say it again haha. Too damn funny.
Will be hoarding elixir in preparation for this update. I also see it will now be more difficult to trophy push and not run out of elixir. Clan wars is another big elixir drain.
wonder if they will do something with dark. After the hero nerf I hate racking up dark elixir, just means I am closer to being without my heros for a week as they 'upgrade,' well if you can call it that.....
Even though I'm not to fond of the elixir change complaining wont change anything. I'm just hoping the next sneak peaks will change my views on the update thus far.
Is this going to be the update that finally gets us something new? Me thinks so hehe. I hope so anyways.
Really tired of "updates" that just change stuff we already have, especially when they supposedly do so much testing...why introduce something then change it? Makes me think they dont test as extensively as they say.
I know someone has probably make this argument, but here goes...
This new feature is a horrible update because:
1. it is completely unfair to those who farm their walls with a bunch of gold. I can only imagine how frustrated those who farm level 11 walls. I'm almost there to getting all level 9 walls and I'm angry. When the update is released, I will despise seeing all of those villages with high-leveled walls, because I know that I could have played the game differently to get better results. But no, I had to put off upgrading my defenses so I could farm more gold on walls. I've had full elixir storages for as long as I can remember, and if this update was released a long time ago, I know for a fact that I would be a fully maxed TH9. This update will make people feel like they've wasted a bunch of time, and that's what will make them extremely angry and potentially quit the game, or find ways to get refunds.
2. This update will completely destroy the loot system. TH10's already acquire bad enough loot as it is. From what I've heard from personal experience, TH10's already find it hard enough to farm elixir. Releasing this update will frustrate them even more because it will make elixir even more scarce, given the fact that a bunch of people will be spending their elixir on walls. People without a doubt will quit playing this game because of this.
To summarize, this update should be highly reconsidered before releasing because it nullifies the hard work and time for those who have farmed their walls with 100% gold. Also, it would destroy the loot system, because people will be spending a bunch of their elixir on walls, making it even harder to progress through the game.
I am a macroeconomics student, and macroeconomics is, in a nutshell, the study of economics in the bigger picture. I envision a massive amount of loyal players who will quit the game and ask for refunds, thus decreasing the game's popularity and therefore risking profit. I know that Supercell wants profit, but I'm sure there are other more efficient and mutually beneficial methods to obtain it.
Thanks for reading.
If you dont like it quit!
Good news :D
