I knew somebody would make a thread like this.. Look at all those threads. A small amount of people wanted walls to be reduced, a big amount said NO.

It is still the same amount of resource, just different color. Still have to put in just as much work imo.
It really waters down the feeling of accomplishment for those of us that have spent a lot of countless hours maxing out our walls before upgrading to the next town hall. I'm only town hall 8, I can't imagine how you town hall 9 & 10 guys feel about this. Looks like high level walls will now be standard issue on most bases now. Thanks supercell.

You can upgrade: 1 wall to level 10.
With this new system the 200k elixer you stole is also relevant for your walls, which makes it a lot easier to upgrade them
I would like to know the reasoning behind making this start at Lvl6 walls and not a later level.
Just curious to hear, still have mixed feelings about this new addition (I'm farming Legos).
can't say i like this change... I spent two+ months farming walls at TH9, and now some idiot can do what I did in half the time. Also, now that I finally have some use for elixir as a new TH10, everybody will spending all of it on walls. aggravating

I have to disagree. If you look at past updates almost every time they add a new level to pre-existing troops/buildings, which only long-time players would be able to get, because they know that long-time/high level players are the same players who buy boat loads of gems. So an update that appeals to new players may only be beneficiary in the long run, if that player happens to continue to play the game and if that player happens to buy gems, whereas long-time players (that gem) are almost an instant monetary win.
I actually felt that newer players were less tended to than old-time players because of the fact that almost every building or troop update is only accessible to high-level players. The last two defensives they've come out with are infernos and xbows, both of which you unlock at th9 and th10.
well then AFAIK they have stopped bringing out updates for normal farmers.... see the hog nerf (death of a big part of farmers) the promotion of valks / new pekka lvl (boost boost boost troops) & ofcourse I doubt anyone in their real senses would really gem walls !!! if they say they do... no doubt they might be supercell employees with free gem flows... trying to create peer pressure... well since SC realizes no ones really gonna gem walls & nerfing the cost would create a much bigger uproar... thus this is the next best thing they came up with i guess.. which kills two birds with one stone... walls nerfed Plus further squeeze of a resources thus making more players spend those 11 gems per pump to just make an army...
they believe (SC) this game has become popular enuf to survive without the hard working non gemming farmers...
Well no, not exactly, no. There was 1 thing in the game that was really really hard to get, and that was maxed walls. Although it's still hard, it's been made a lot easier. That's what's bothering me at least, don't know about the rest. It was just a fun thing to be working on, something that might never be achieved.
Low players complain about hogs raiding them all the time: hog nerf
Inferno tower to hard to attack on multi: multi burns slower
Heroes are too hard to defend against: hero nerf
edit: also, I assume that old players spend less as they are just boosting. New players on the other hand may buy resources to speed their progress up, maybe buy builders huts etc.
I'm not sure if this has crossed a lot of minds, but I know it hasn't been mentioned in the thread as I've read all 1200+ posts.
Doesn't the prospect of a new level TH and more wall levels inevitably being released make it so that those of you who have farmed walls can then farm for the new level walls as soon as they are released? This then leading to you having the new version of maxed walls while the rest of us who either are casual players or in some cases (IE me) started playing the game well into it's life still are trying to get lvl 10 and 11 walls?
I think you are forgetting that this game will grow as the years go on (theoretically). Because you have put the work in before hand, you will have the first crack at new walls. So please just stop complaining I find it ridiculous that you pout about it. Perhaps instead of farming for 9 hours a day you should do something with your life, like get a job or find a girl that is interested in you (impossible I know).
Not one of you can sit here and tell me that you didn't, in all the hours you spent, think that hmm I wonder if one day this will be something I consider a waste of time.

This might be the final straw for me and coc. I envisage there being a lot less elixir available to raid. Which makes war hard to do, which is the best feature of this game.
To start off, I am usually just a spectator on these forums. I generally just like to see what everybody is talking about. Sometimes I agree and disagree. There are lots of loot threads on here, however I have to admit that I've been getting frustrated as well. I've farmed from 1200-1800 trophies as a TH8 and it's just been disgusting.
But the thing I wanted to address is just how ridiculous some peoples complaints are. People are grilling SC for letting us use elixir for walls? Some people talk about how they spent so much time building walls right? I'm only 20 walls away from being done with skulls. So based on some of ya'lls logic, I should be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because I've spent tons of gems on barracks taking hours and hours to get these done right? Well that is not correct. I'm thrilled because now I have the opportunity to be able to go for lego's which seems excellent. Otherwise it would have been maybe a little much for somebody who works 80 hours a week.
My synopsis is this. Unless you have farmed level 11 walls and are maxed, which you haven't because unless you have over 2 billion GG it's pretty much not possible, then just be grateful you now have the ability to get the next level more easily.
Like I said, I don't even grill loot complainers because, well it just flat sucks and yeah supercell I would love that to be fixed. But some of these people have to complain about EVERYTHING?!

The point is that the exclusivity of high level walls is going to be lower.. walls are seen as a trophy, proof you are hardcore. People (including me) spent months grinding this game just for that sense that you were part of the elite. With this change it allows players to enter the upper class much easier.
Imagine you got into a top college, with a 2200 on your SAT. The year after you applied and were accepted, the college lowered their requirements to only a 1800 on the SAT. All of a sudden you don't feel as accomplished, and the overall quality of the people around you has gone down. That's what this feels like.
The second part of your argument is invalid and petty, you have no right to tell others how they should live :^)
Your comment started out nice and insightful, but when you started about people not having a life I had to jump in.
Let's start.
You do have a point, people who have higher level walls have a head start when new walls are released or just have a head start on the already high level walls. But that is not the point. There is a goal in this game to farm those walls by hard work and dedication and a LOT of time. That's what's bothering us, it will only take roughly half the time it took for others to achieve what we have achieved.
On the other part I'd like to tell you that I have a girlfriend, I worked full time (50 hours a week), saw my friends a couple of times a week, visited my family and now I'm going to university. So I guess your 'well thought' comment wasn't as accurate as you'd think.
Quit posting these ridiculous comments and learn to accept others peoples thoughts.

Proof that Supercell tends to both low-level and high-level players. Maybe sometimes one more than the other, but to argue that old players get little to no attention is a tad ignorant.
To your edit: From my personal experience and from what my experience with clanmates and other members, people tend to buy and use gems more as they get higher. Of course this is not certain and we don't know the numbers, but the harder it gets the more you need.
Regardless, by the same logic people use to argue against easier walls, we shouldn't be allowed to play Clash of Clans at all because "back-then" people didn't have modern technology.
Marika: Are you finished monitoring the loot situation you promised that would be so much better after it had settled for a few months? I remember all the boring 200k gold bases we could find before that particular update and cant say farming has become much more exciting since then. I just needed to accept that you didnt tell the truth and attack bases with a lot less loot. It took a little longer but I can live with that.
You tried to sell us a lie then, wrapped in how much better the loot would become. Now you are trying again as bases will be harder to raid with higher level walls and there will be less elixir to raid. The difference this time is that it will stop itself because you have probably underestimated the effect on this. We need elixir to raid you know, and the ballance is pretty fine as it is.
The financial crises we are still living in shows that you can't trust people or businesses to rule the economy. Strict rules are needed or else it just collapses. You just removed one that assured there where allways enugh resources to build exciting armys for every one..

This new sneak peek revealed for walls is really unfair to those that grinded for gold to level up their walls like I have, and now people can get to my level in much less time and with ease. If I had to grind for so long, why don't others have to also? I can't really think of much to say besides of what I said earlier, that this is unfair to those that grinded walls by using just gold.. Pretty disappointed in this Supercell..
And yet you still got a 2200 on your SAT and those around you didn't, by your own school of thought this should make you feel good because you are now part of the elite of those students. No matter what happens, you still got that 2200, and no one can take that away from you. The rest is just your ego and narcissism.
If people spent half as much time advancing their education or career as they do farming walls they would actually be recognized/elite in something that actually carries weight.

Getting walls to max is still going to be a grind. Those troops & spells to get to the storage to get the resources like DE well... this is going to limit the use of elixir to max out walls. I doubt that this is going to make a huge change to the game. The only difference is for people who have maxed out their elixir upgrades and have full storages.
Not only is it unfair, in the future loot will be a lot harder... No Gold OR elixir in raids? WAy to go, SC. I guess they want people to gem or whatever.
Unfair? What are you entitled to? It's a game, things change. You farmed for the walls obviously of your own free will. SuperCell did not force you to upgrade them when you did. You take the risk doing that with anything, but you wanted to have the better walls for the time being. Nothing is ever permanent or stays the same in this world. Either adapt or die off like the weak herd.
I once made it to 3842 trophies, hit the top 25 on the US leaderboards and was even on the global leaderboards for a short time. It took me well over a month to push that high, and I even bought a few gems to help me get there. That was, and still is, the proudest achievement of mine in this game. When I did it, this was a huge accomplishment, and I'd get asked all the time about how I got that high, what it was like, etc.
Nowadays 3842 probably wouldn't even get me on the local leaderboards (maybe it barely would, haven't checked recently), but it's certainly nowhere close to the global leaderboards. 3842 is still a big accomplishment and I still have people ask me about it from time to time, but the value of my accomplishment has certainly been dimished in the last 6-8 months since I first achieved it.
However, I'm ok with this. I understand that achievements within this game are never permanent, and that in order for the game to continue evolving, the value of elements already in the game must go down. So what if a few thousand people have now this, I still feel like my accomplishment means something, and I can still prove that I worked hard for it.
The point I'm trying to make is that lots of people view walls as a trophy and not a practical aspect of base building. Those people are understandably upset, but pretty much everyone who has made meaningful accomplishments in this game have seen them decline in importance over time. Where are the daily Jorge Yao threads now? Where is the awe surrounding SneakyDave for his level? You can't stay on top and keep these kinds of achievements forever, and wall farmers/gemmers will soon find this out. It sucks when it happens to you and what's dear to you, but that's life.

Early TH's rely on elixer, so they can use gold for walls, then they rely on gold whilst elixer becomes useless. So.. switch from using gold to elixer on your walls. Perfect.
If you made top 200, the trophy count doesn't matter, its just as hard to do it today as it was then. Trophy inflation. Im sure bases in low champs are much easier now then they were when you got there. If you made top200, doesn't matter when, its a achievement. But if you made top 200, then they wiped your profile so there is no proof you ever made it that high, back then, thats how people feel about this change.
I've adressed that point several times previously in this thread. There are multiple reasons people are upset about this, and pride/diminishment of accomplishment is probably the biggest from high level farmers. Just figured I'd adress that separately, not saying the economics of this aren't irrelevant.
Wonderfully put. What I immediately thought of when I started seeing "trophy" tossed around, the problem they have isn't that it was harder when they did it....its about not being able to show it. Whats the saying? "boys and their toys".
ps....still think it is a terrible idea, pertaining to the economy. I think im done if that is all regarding loot. PLAYING is fun. NEXTING and GRINDING are not. COC should want to stay fun.
SC is a business and they have complete right to make this adjustment. This will obviously benefit them.
And no one can deny that it's unfair to those that grinded hard for their high level walls. At the end of the day, it's just a game and there will ALWAYS be adjustments like this in the future to make things easier for newer players.
Besides that, unless you have maxed level 11 walls, you should still be able to benefit from this update. Maybe they'll have new level 12 walls for those with already all level 11 walls?
Thanks for your long post but it was a waste cause its totally different. There was nothing that made it easier to get to 3842, its just that more people are doing that now and now pushing even higher, nothing really special or unreasonable considering that the game is growing in numbers.
On the other hand, it is easier to farm walls and it is not like trophies that you can always goes higher. So basically, if we will take your case, how would you feel if supercell change the trophy system and make it that with less gems (or using other resource) you can now get to the same trophy count you got back then? I am sure you'll get mad as the hardcore farmers feel.
Anyway, if tyrael got promised by daddy he'll be happy with the rest of the update, who am I to complain :p
I can't help but point put the hyperbole here. Elixir will be far less abundant after the update, and upgrading walls won't be as easy with elixir as people are making it out to be. Level 9 walls now will still be harder than level 10s after the update, let alone zaps.
Also, just wanna throw this in here. If SC was to make this change for level 10-11 walls only, that's completely fine with me. It still take a lot of work and dedication to get to that point, and I think many others would feel the same way.
Just Becuase you had to grind for gold for your walls doesn't mean the rest of us can't have this update. Honestly. Like I understand how you feel but what about the majority? We, really need this. I'm 13 years old and I got a TH7. Now since i'm 13 I don't have the time to grind gold. I'm also thinking most adults playing also don't have the time. So we (The majority) can't grind. So Supercell makes this update. So us, the majority, now have a little help behind us. I mean in the end the grinders still win. Now you can grind gold and elixir at the same time. Meaning the grinders still win. So really Supercell should keep this update. It helps the majority.
Exactly. Everyone can always find elixir because people have it in their storages. Now that you can use it on walls, all resources will be dry, and attacking is pointless. The only way to farm would be dead bases. Everyone be ready to next a million times and not actually attack!

Abandoned bases will still have the same amount of elixir as before, no one to spend it on walls. So what used to be base to get only 100-450k for walls will be 200-900k for walls, doubles the amount you get.
You don't find them as much as before but I know that everyone now will look on the total amount of loot and not only gold, so they'll attack bases with less gold that they would never would have attacked before.
woo hoo! i can maybe get skulls as th 8 LOL but still a good thing is that a lot of players are quitting which means… ALOT of loot is incoming and mostly high level farmers are quiting so :rolleyes::rolleyes: LOOT for ALL
It will still be a lot easier though as you have two resources to use to upgrade them. I'm happy with the change personally. I've been sitting on max elix for as long as I can remember with nothing to use it on other than troops and spells. I only have around 70 zaps left so this is coming from someone that's almost maxed their walls also… It would be interesting if they had a look at other things for high trophy players with maxed bases. They always seem to have max gold because they have nothing to spend it on. Perhaps spells could cost gold or elixir also? Also DE could perhaps have a place for upgrading walls also for those that have max heroes?

You have missed the point my friend. It's not even that it's easier (which it objectively is) so much as that more people are doing it. More people having something means it loses its prestige. If everyone who could afford a Ferrari got one, it doesn't mean Ferraris got easier to buy, but it does mean they would lose some of their value associated with its exclusiveness.
when SC was saying changing the COC economy, I knew it was for reducing the loot more.

Yes, but these effects are inversely related. The worse the elixir drain, the less people will be investing elixir in walls (they would need it for troops, spells, etc. first). The weaker the elixir drain, the better the economy but the more walls are upgraded. People are saying both will happen terribly, but that doesn't make sense. It's likely that there will be an intermediate balance struck in the coming weeks.
Omg great move supercell, even im th9 with maxed skulls and many legos done; i cant wait for this to be implemented as im always sitting on 8 million elixir. Lets no talk about all the millions i lose on raids for lack of storage.

Hardcore farmers doesn't care even if all of the players in the game will farm their base to max, just as long as they done it the same way they did it without anyone making their life (CoC became our lifes :eek: ) easier.
So yeah, the more players are in the game, the more hardcore players that will farm their and/or push trophies, that's logical in games like this. But there is no reason to let it grow exponentially (an exaggeration) just to make casual players happy.
Anyway, I get your point now, but still it doesn't really matter cause what happened to farming now is completely different than what happening with trophies.

Been sitting on full elix storages for months. This is a welcome update for me :-)
