Will farming change for those maxing Town Halls? Data analysis inside.

The hardest part of maxing your town hall level is the walls.

Okay, with Elixir now being used for walls and not just troops, I've been asking myself what the best army is for farming up walls. Is it Barch, BAM, or Loons?

Im using 100/140 for Barch calculations, 80/100/30 for BAM, and 20/70 for Loons. I've attached the excel sheet and made the average loot per raid for Loons: 250k Barch: 200k, BAM 170k.

I noticed after my calculations that Balloons are very behind the other two farming strategies.

I even bumped Balloon loot up to 300k/300k and I still found them to be inferior.

BAM is the best loot per hour. You will get 1m loot/hour for walls.

Barch gets you 900k/hr.

Loons get you 765k/hr with 600k loot every raid.

Now disclaimers. Loons are more casual because you can only raid 1.5x per hour. You can do other things while clashing. Its also easier to hit DE with Balloons. They cost 2x as much as every other army though.

So I'm not saying I'll never loon again. Ill probably loon during the day while I have classes, but If I ever get to play constantly for a few hours, Barch/BAM are the better options. I plan to use Barch until my heroes finish then BAM for walls.

Another disclaimer. This doesnt take into account loot bonuses and search time. I'd say I definitely search no more than 2x as much for Barch targets compared to Loons. Also loons win more often. I wonder how that might change results.

I think you have a great analysis here :)

While there's nothing wrong with thinking this stuff through we have no real idea what it will look like after the update. It will take a few weeks to really get a lay of the land post update. Until we know what the next button has in store for us we simply can't build a strategy. But I am betting farming armies don't change

Just wondering if the elixir cost of the army is going to factor in.

Only strategy that will change is I can raid those bases with low gold but 300k elix. Won't have to keep nexting to find gold.

Still not a fan of this wall thing... let's sub par farmers have a chance to have good walls...

I don't know if they will.

There are still so many elixir upgrades at each TH level that it only benefits those who constantly have overflowing storages...specifically those maxing their THs at the end of TH9/10

I'm glad this update is coming out as I am close to finishing elixir upgrades and all defense upgrades. Gives me more incentive to stay at TH9 to max the 9 and 10 walls.

Now if I would have went to TH10 a little early to get infernos I would be a little frustrated as I would not be overflowing with elixir as much as I am on a regular basis at end stages of TH9.

currently sitting on 142 skulls/ 107 legos/ 1 lava I upgraded on accident lol.

I wish I had stayed longer at TH9. I upgraded to 10 with 100 Legos and 30 hero levels.

The only negative to staying TH9 is that you get smashed by TH10s every night unless you have a farming base.

This update benefits everyone (except those with fully maxed walls). Raiding should not change much, the only thing you won't see any more is bases with no gold and a ton of elixir in storage. It will change the end of every th level for the better. No longer will you be swimming in elixir while you farm for walls and hero's. And to those who say it negates the hard work of farming and walls are a badge of pride that you proudly wear... you're taking this game a little to seriously imo.

BAM looks really good on paper (quicker train time) but some people oversee the fact that it is more difficult to use because the number of threats to your troops is increased. With Barch/ Balloonion, you only have to worry about ground traps/anti air traps and ground defences/anti air defences respectively. With BAM, you need to worry about both.

Therefore, BAM is a very good composition on paper (and it is) but it does take a lot of practise to get right simply because it's threatened by more things on the map (as an army composition) than ground/air specific armies like balloonion and barch.
