Important note for farming base designers!

I am one member of the forum community that doesn't really read much of anything except the Tactics and Strategies section of the forums. As I enjoy reviewing and scrutinising bases of all kinds, I would like to point out that with this coming update, it will be EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that ELIXIR STORAGES ARE PROTECTED EQUALLY TO GOLD STORAGES, especially in farming base layouts.

Elixir will no doubt reach a new level of high demand after the update and it will be necessary to protect this resource as an equal to gold. Bases that do not protect both gold and elixir equally will become OBSOLETE in many cases because elixir will no longer be a good sacrifice to protect gold.

Therefore, please remember, when designing your farming base, to protect all the storages equally from now on!:)

This is true, now that you can upgrade walls with elixir. However I believe gold still is more important since you can upgrade other buildings besides walls with gold as well. I maxed elixir incredibly fast.

It's a bad time to be attempting to save up 6m elixir.....Why did I have to save up now

Yes.. Finally some more TH8 designs that actually protect elixir.

I'm not sure it would matter much... the less protected elixir storages will probably all be empty anyway, since they're used to pay for walls. If you needed to save up for elixir, swap it with gold storages and dump your gold into walls. Basically, if you're ok with exposing the elixir storages now, why wouldn't you after the update? The way I see it, the exposed full elixir storages you see now is because we had no way to spend it, and once we can dump them into walls, then they can still be exposed, just empty now.

New elixir upgrades coming from the update will require people to save up large amounts of elixir (lvl 6 DB, lvl 7 barch). Another point I make is that Elixir will be just as valuable as gold, because people will start to farm up their walls with elixir now.

It used to be ok to leave your elixir storages close to the outside because nobody farmed elixir, (you can't do anything with them except upgrade barracks, camps and lab at the moment, all of which take time to complete) most people just farmed gold and elixir was not a concern because it would have accumulated after days of disuse. With this new update, elixir will definitely become a resource to be farmed, so leave it outside at your own risk.

It's ok if you leave it outside though, more walls for me!;)

Rise of the barch. Now loot will go down even more since they changed the loot system. All the loot will go into walls, nothing left but abandoned bases... they should of left walls alone!

Anti-Barch bases are going to become the new hype for TH9 players. Not a good time to be saving lix

Augh... Luckily my base designs are still safe :) Got to note this down when designing future bases, thanks for the heads up.

I'm quite happy about the walls update actually. It will at least give me a chance to farm my walls close to max. In the long run, not so sure.

Don't really need an 'anti barch' base. splash close to storages and mortars near the center will hold barch off fine.

Either way th8's and below do not need to protect elixir as much! they just dont have the defense capabilities and theres no point because when they use it theyll have very little left and if they will use it alot on walls, which they will, there will be no need to protect elixir

Well, the way i see it, the new so called "hybrid resource wall" actually benefits those who have at least semi maxed skulls and troops that are considerably maxed out at their respective TH level. It will hit premmies real hard because of the fact that the struggle between elixir and gold will be even greater for them.

For sure, but at th8 and below, theres no point in hybrids and protecting lix much as gold th9 and th10, Sure, but thats for specific reasons

While I agree that elixir storages should be protected even more with the upcoming update, it's not detrimental to have them exposed as long as you raid often.

Elixirs are always readily available due to the fact that you accumulate them (you tend to make more elixirs per raid compared to gold. Gold are used up on every tap of the "next" button while elixirs just lie there dormant until you make your next raiding composition.

So, why bother over-emphasizing on the protection of elixirs when those extra walls in the base design could be used to protect something far more important?

Honestly, I would keep my elixir at a level where i can continue to raid w/o any diffculties (perhaps between the 1-2m range; excess i'll just dump it into walls wherever possible) and maintain my priority on gold to max out the rest of my defenses.

What update, where you get details?

That's the thing. After the update, nobody will have 'dormant' elixir any more
