My war clan is built to take advantage of the matchmaking system (I wish I didn't have to do this, but winning is good for morale and therefore clan health -- my previous clan was severely disadvantaged by the matchmaking system, so I'm simply adapting) and it has a permanent rule from the get-go: Everyone must use both attacks or they are automatically kicked (or demoted if they are co-leader / elder). This is the easiest way to ensure a clan is competitive for war, and never struggles due to lack of participation (we consistently have 88%+ participation, even with a lot of noobs in our clan.) We also do non-stop wars, because we like to rack up all these easy wins and loot bonuses.
But this no mercy auto-kick policy is pretty drastic, and leaves no room for friends! (Who want to stick together, but not necessarily put up with the pressures of war.) Grrr.
The game is less fun with my friends scattered abroad, and I'm semi-retired (partly because I lost some friends, partly because I'm busy, and partly because I've grown tired of the game after playing to level 139, and how matchmaking doomed my prior clan to endless war losses), only in our main clan now 10% of the time. It's been a fun ride, supercell.
