Is it possible to play Clash of Clans without ever using DE even once?

This isn't really an idea or future request, but I feel like this is the best place to post it.

So, do you think it would be possible for someone to play the game without ever building their DE storage or barracks? In CoC, dark troops and heroes are a big part of the game for most people, but would it be possible to max out your base fully and maybe get to Champions' League once without using DE? Or would it be too hard? Is there ever a point in the game where you are forced to buy a DE storage?

It would be cool if anyone has actually tried doing this, so if you have an account which is pretty high levelled, but hasn't got anything with DE, post some screenshots! :D

Having already got my heroes and de, I feel that this is a question only you can answer. Please take up the challenge and let us know in this thread when you've succeeded.

You technically can't get completely maxed buildings as the pedestals cost DE to build.

However you can max everything without even using troops or a clan, Which kind of defeats the purpose of "Clash of clans".
