Minions- worth upgrading or not at TH7?

Hey guys, this is phantom6969!
I am a th7 nd hv 80% maxed out base!(loot is not a problem, i see a lots of post abt not getting enough loot so i thought i might as well contribute! I am in gold 2! And i m getting around 300k gold and 300k elixer in less than 20 search. DE is also descent with abt 1k in ever 10 searches!).
Now 2 the point :p , i hv already got my barb king(lvl 1). But i hv not upgraded my DE storage(still lvl 1). All my builders r busy for atleast 3 days each nd my DE storage got full(10k)! I m thinking abt putting the minions in the lab 4 upgrade as they r still lvl 1!
I just wanted 2 ask if they r worth it! Or should i wait 5 days(3 days for my worker 2 get free nd 2 days 2 upgrade the DE storage) nd upgrade my barb king or just put the minions in the lab 4 upgrade!
Also i normally take minions(abt 10-15 every time) but i rarely use ballonian...
So should i upgrade or wait 5 days(risking my DE as lots of th8 nd th9 attack me although my def is almost maxed out)!

Well,you should really focus on upgrading your king ASAP,it's just the most important thing and you'll be happy having him on 10 before going to th9.

If your DE storage is full and you can farm DE at a good rate - go ahead and research

To be useful you will probably need to go all the way up to 6, but if you have a spare DE - why not starting now?

You will want your minions as high lvl as possible once you are ready to do proper Balloonion raids. It sucks to have to do them with low level minions cause they get mowed down faster than fruit flies if the balloons fail to take down some archer towers, xbows or wizard towers. higher lvl minions however have much more hp and dps and are able to take out some defenses on their own too.

Focus on ur king. If its maxed already, then why not? Go ahead

I didn't play around with DE that much at TH7. I only zapped enough to fill the level 1 storage and get my king, but I guess if you have spare DE and your storage is not level 2 yet, then go ahead and upgrade them. Balloonion is popular at higher levels and dark troops are usually requested a lot in clans, so having high levelled minions will really help.

I am about halfway through TH8 and focused all my DE earnings solely on upgrading the king, and he is very useful at level 5 when he gets the ability. I still haven't levelled up any dark troops yet, but I don't use them often so it's really up to the person asking.

If you use minions a lot, upgrade them. If not, wait until you have upgraded your king to the maximum he can be before starting upgrades for dark troops.
