How to use your builders

As everyone may know you can have 5 builders max. The more builders you have the easier it makes to grow and build your village!

Here are the costs of each builder (findable on CoC wiki):

1st builder = FREE
2nd builder= 250 Gems ***
3rd builder = 500 Gems
4th builder = 1000 Gems
5th builder = 2000 Gems


*** = you buy this builder in your Clash of Clans introduction so it's practicully "free"

How to use your builders when you have 2 builders

Some players will think: "Why should I BUY another builder? I only play for free!" Well, first of all this game is very addicted so 99% chance you will buy something. Second, to get an awsome village within 2-3 months you'll need at least 2 builders. Using 1 builder will extremely slow you down.

"How can I buy builders without spending my money?"

The more time you spend in Clash of Clans, the more rewards you get from the girl in your top left corner. She "gives" you tasks you can accomplish wich gives you experience/gems as reward.

There is one pretty easy task to accomplish wich gives you 1250 gems ==> get 1250 trophies
From the 1250 gems you can buy your 2nd AND if you want your 3rd!

"Now lets say you've got 2 builder, how do you use them?"

Always use 1 builder for upgrading your defence and the other one for the other buildings. If your walls are pretty good in compare with other players (with thesame account level/trophies) than use your "defence builder" for buildings such as: Mortars, Wizard towers, Archer towers and Cannons.

How to use your builders when you have 3 builders

So I told you guys how to receive 1250 gems pretty easy (read the subtopic about having 2 builders). If you buy your 2nd and 3rd builder you have 3 builders total.

"1st builder"

Use this builder for the regular buildings like: Lab, Magic factory, camps, barrack(s) and WALLS! If you know you'll raid alot you have to spend your gold into walls. It's always good to upgrade your walls. If you're planning to enlarge your village, use this builder for your lab, magic factory,barracks and camps to upgrade. Calculate smart to know wich building to build.

For example: You're sleeping each night 6-9 hours. If you want to upgrade your mortar wich takes 12 hours, then upgrade it 2 hours before you're going to sleep. (RAID FIRST) While you sleep, it's a high chance you'll get raided and receive 12+ shield. When you're awake you see your nice new mortar and some couple of hours shield left. Use those couple of hours to upgrade your barrack what could take 3 hours.

"2nd builder"

Use this builder for all your defence buildings!

"3rd builder"

Use this builder for you Town Hall bu the most important for your Storages/Resources! Again: We wise on how to use your builders (always take a look at the upgrade time). If you will not upgrade something important for a while, use builder 2 and 3 for your defence.

How to use your builders when you have 4 builders

Most of all players who have 4 builders are pretty experienced Clash of Clans players. To already have Town Hall level 6 or higher and know how to use the builders very well. For those who are extremely addictive and immediatly buy their 2th, 3th and 4th builder:

"1st builder"

Use this builder for your walls ONLY. Upgrading walls is once again extremely important! Because you have 4 builders and upgrade fast wich requires resources, you'll raid alot. Spend the remaining gold into new walls!

"2nd builder"

Use this builder for your camps & barracks

"3rd builder"

Use this builder for your resources/storages

"4th builder"

Use this builder for your defence buildings

Because you've 4 builders you can mix their "tasks".

For example: If you know that you're not going to raid for a while, you can use 3rd & 4th builder to upgrade your defence buildings quickly. AGAIN: look at the upgrade time and be wisely on your choice wich building to upgrade first.

How to use your builders when you have 5 builders

95% of all time, only addicted and VERY high players have 5 builders. It's almost thesame "guide" as when you've 4 builders. Safe 1 builder for walls and be smart on using the other 4 builders.

I believe in using 3 builders for defences and 1 builder for everything else. I upgrade walls in between upgrades since there's usually a day or two in between upgrades (for higher levels).

Thank you, I agree with you every has made their village different. Someone has higher defence than buildings and an other player lower defence and high mines/pumps. Just like I said: think wisely how to use each builder ;)

Good job on the guide. I never really thought about this as I approach builders differently.

I have this thing where I want my builders doing same thing the same time. So say, 4 cannons, 4 builders must only be doing cannons. Something like that. But in TH9, it's gonna be impossible because of the high cost of upgrades. So, this time around, I upgrade whatever my gold allows me to. But this time, I'm focusing on pumps and barracks. Wanna try hoarding with 8 pekkas. :)

To progress as fast as possible, the goal should always be to save all gems and use them on buying builders.

If u are not willing to spend any money on gems:
1.You start the game with 500 gems and 1 builder.
2. spend 250 gems to get a second builder. (250 left. dont spend them even if the game wants u to dont do it).
3. by doing some achievments + cleaning up your village you will get gems up to 500 in just a few weeks (2 maybe 3).
4. buy third builder.
5. get 1250 trophies and recieve 450 gems.
6. clean up camps + get some other achievments (another 2-3 months) and save up till 1000 gems.
7. buy fourth builder.
8. fifth builder is almost impossible to get. it costs 2000 gems and u will have to collect those gems by cleaning up your village + some verry high end achievments. this might take up to 6 months.

this will end up having X ammount of building time in the first four months:
3 weeks with just 2 builders = 6 weeks building time
10 weeks with 3 builders = 30 weeks building time
3 weeks with 4 builders = 12 weeks building time.
total building time in first four months = 48 weeks building time.

If u are willing to spend 5 bucks just do it from the start. u will profit alot from this.

1. You start the game with 500 gems and 1 builder.
2. spend 250 gems to get a second builder. (250 left. dont spend them even if the game wants u to dont do it).
3. buy third builder with gems immediatly. have 250 gems left.
3. by doing some achievments + cleaning up your village + 1250 trophies you get up to 1000 in around 6 weeks.
4. buy fourth builder.
5. fifth builder is almost impossible to get. it costs 2000 gems and u will have to collect those gems by cleaning up your village + some verry high end achievments. this might take up to 6 months.

this will end up having X ammount of building time in the first four months:
6 weeks with 3 builders = 18 weeks building time
10 weeks with 4 builders = 40 weeks building time

6. buy fifth builder.

this will end up having X ammount of building time in the first four months:
5 weeks with 4 builders = 20 weeks building time
11 weeks with 5 builders = 55 weeks building time
total building time in first four months = 75. weeks building time.

Conclusion: within the first four months your progress is around 50% more.

spending gems on speeding up buildings is quite inefficient.
1 gem = around 4-8 minutes (4 minets for troops and buildings with short building times. up to 8 mintes per gem for buildings with verry long building times).

2500 gems will give u maximum of 100000-20000 minutes benefit.
20000 minutes = 333 hours = 13 days saved building time. = around one till maximum two weeks saving one builder.

To progress as fast as possible with any ammount of builders:

1. try to get as much as possible loot by raiding.
2. try to always have all builders busy.
3. If u wish to upgrade walls keep 1 builder free as long as u want to upgrade walls. after your done upgrading walls, put this working upgrading something.
4. Choose upgrades wisely depending on gold/elixer available. (5 medium costs upgrades OR 4 low cost + 1 verry high cost upgrade. etc etc.). dont spend all you have on 2 verry expensive upgrades so your other builders have nothing to do.
5. At start put focus on upgrading offence. strong offence = more wins = more loot = more upgrades and builders working.
