When I donate defences to clan members for war, why don't I get credit for troop donations?

They don't want you to abuse it... I don't think I am allowed to explain how you could abuse donations in clan wars, but if they counted them, let's just say........you could.
Sure, but doesn't really make me want to help my clan mates, rather hold on to the troops and donate when they go to attack and get the credit. If your going to abuse, people will abuse, don't really see how donation abuse is a problem. But credit should be given when credit is due.
The "credit" from war donations doesn't come from better donation counts. It comes from a successful defense due to CC troops.
If this were implemented, what is preventing me from donating, getting the troops dismissed, and donating again until I get a high "friend in need"?
The point of Friend in Need and donation exp is to give an incentive to consistently donate and make sure requests don't languish, and reward with gems and star levels, respectively. This kind of incentive isn't needed in Clan Wars because there are always enough people motivated to win to fill out clan castles.
If you're in a hurry to get Friend in Need, go clan hopping and fill in people's requests. There's more than enough to go around. Otherwise, if you're in a reasonably active clan, you'll get there eventually.
