Make sure your barn isn't full when harvesting.
You don't get tools everytime you attend to your animals or harvest. I usually get tools around about every 2nd time attending to my animals (3 yards with each) and harvesting yields a tool every 60 odd plots so if you have 59 fields you will got your tools every second complete harvest (not sure on exact figures).Quote:

Feed your animals, I always get at least 3 items when I collect xp from them :o
