Clan Wars Reservations

Hey all,

I bet we've all tried to open the game, press the war button just to witness our target already destroyed by a clanmate. Or simply scroll through the whole chat just to find available enemys. Or something else that happened, because of limited options.

My idea is to help organize Clan Wars.

When organizing a clan-war and coordinating the attacks it would definitely lift the gaming experience if we were able to make reservations of our opponents and/or be able to write a short notice near the targets name. This would hopefully prevent from misunderstandings, but also ensure that everyone gets to war against an almost equally leveled foe. A short notice could also be an recommended attack strategy written by the clans strategists.

How I see the reservations:
- a "reserve" button below the "scout" is to be pressed
- you choose 2h, 4h or 6h and a display shows a timer counting with your reservation
- no double reservations. You need to use your 1st attack, before making a 2nd reservation.
- reservations are only indicative, any clanmate can at any time attack your reservation, even if there's a clock ticking (this could be changed, so only the one that holds the reservation can attack, but then the time should be cut to 30min, 1h and 2h and only 1 reservation per clan-war to avoid blocking)
- Leader and Co-Leader can at any time remove a reservation if for example a lower leveled player aims to high? Still wondering if this is necessary.

I strongly believe that such feature would only be a positive thing and very well received in the community.
Many players aren't using apps such as Line/KiK and the only way of communicating is the in-game chat, that also has its limitations as there's only place for like 100 messages. Therefore it can be hard to organize as not everyone is online at the same time and they don't get to read everything.

So you can sort of 'call' a base to attack? If so this is a good idea because sometimes people don't know that your attacking a base and they attack the base you wanted. Happened to me many times

Chupacabra answered Your question very well and just to add.. Your reservation will of course disappear once You finish Your attack.

A reservation will only be informative and help coordinating all attacks, not blocking own clanmates:)

It should just be a notice, clanmates can still attack the base you reserved, also it shouldn't expire until you use your first attack

I never said that reservations would equal free reservations. You still agree with Your clan who You target. Should a mate be offline and don't get that and he wishes to go for the same guy as I, he will now have this option to see that it has already been reserved.

And besides, no #1 start out with attacking. Even if everyone reserved one above, #1 would still be able to attack #1 or #2 because someone for sure missed a star or two or even three;)

There is a link in my sig for a more detailed thread on the same topic. It includes what you are talking about but has options for other levels of strategic control. In essence, everything from leader/co assigns targets to free for all and a few options in between. Most of what could possibly be needed for the various war matchup scenarios.

Nice idea buddy.. We usually had to allocate targets for clan members.. Which is kind of a head ache..assigning no. To attack :D well this would really help if this idea is implemented

This is much needed! Supercell are you listening? People have been asking for something like this for a long time.

I like the idea of just a note that doesn't effect anyone else attacking it and clears after the person has attacked. This is a very simple solution.

The timer is a nice idea but not really needed. Leader/coleader override would be good to help some clanmembers from getting too zealous and attacking way over their head, but not nessesary.

Most clan members that are on board with your war strategy will respect the reservation, for the first several hours of the war at least. After that all bets are off...

I would counter that with leader/co should be to a certain degree "leading" the war. That's why they are called leaders. For the larger more robust UI on my wish list it could always be toggled to a different setting if that is what worked best for that clan/war too. However, allowing leaders to reset claims also allows for people who have called dibs on a target they have no business attacking to be cancelled, or if they dropped their phone in the toilet and will not be able to attack or unblock their target.

To me, the pros for this idea also introduce a number of cons.

I feel that a well organized clan can have players "call" a base# in the clan chat and people either respect it or counter it with their own explanation why they want that base instead, otherwise it's first come first serve. My clan basically never fights over bases. The only thing that happens sometimes is someone forgot to read the chat where someone called a base, but didn't see that and attacked it anyways. It's an honest mistake and has never led to changing the outcome of any of our wars.

I would agree with this except for the lack of communication tools. In an active clan anything that has been posted in chat will only be seen for about the next 2 minutes. Emails can only be sent every 12 hours so they are strategically useless once the war has started. For the record my clan does not suffer from problems with base calling and attacking improperly matched targets but there have been a few wars where just a LITTLE bit of shareable strategy would have made the 2 star difference between a win and a loss.

A more specific link would be appreciated as I don't find any of these link turning me to the claimed direction.

I'm fully aware of multiple possibilities that could improve the strategic-part of Clan-Wars, but I'm afraid that too many projects at once will only push it further into the future. Small steps is the way to go, imo.

I'm sorry, but I have to ask.. where are the "number of cons" that You mention?

As my dear colleague mentioned, the clan-chat is sometimes spammed in 5 min during CW and one doesn't always have the time nor is online at that moment. Even in a well-organized clan it's to much to demand that ALL members must acquire an external communication tool when You're playing recreationally.

2) you call a base but forget to attack it

3) you call a base, but have a real-life emergency that prevents you from attacking

4) you call a base, but you lose your phone, drop it in toilet, break it, leave it at your girlfriend's, etc.

5) you call a base that is too easy or too hard and that in itself affects the strategy of your clanmates and who they have left to choose from

6) you call a base then change your mind (might not be able to un-call), screwing up your clan

7a) you call a base but everyone knows you can only get 1 star max, but they're too nice and don't say anything.

9) you are in a diff time zone and are usually asleep when clan wars begin. You wake up and all the good bases suitable for you to raid have already been "called" and you're stuck raiding a base that's too tough, otherwise you have to be a douche and raid someone's called base.

10) your co-leader overrides your called base. drama ensues.

oh, let me clarify. I'm not offended, I genuinely meant to inform you that even ONE bump is one too many. I have read the rule before as well and yes it does say "multiple" bumps, so it's kind of misleading.

So since you didn't know before, now you know :D I put the picture because it's a line from a Notorious B.I.G. song, and it was coincidentally fitting in this instance.

Yes this can definitely happen in a very active and chatty clan. This is what I meant by pros and cons. You just described a pro for CW reservations.

Ad1) I understand Your point, but a mail from leaders texting "reservations only allowed first 16h allowed" will solve this.

Ad2) That's why I wanted a timer, to prevent such things. Or if You suddenly get a call and need to get somewhere etc. etc. then Your reservation ends and someone else is able to attack.

Ad3) Look Ad2.

Ad4) Look Ad2.

Ad5) Leaders send a mail before War-day who is to target who in the first attack. Or if a leader notice Your reservation they inform You to change it.
The idea with the reservations is also to talk with leaders before making the reservation.

Ad6) I don't understand "change Your mind". You scout a player first and then make up You mind.

Ad7a&b) That's not a con. This just highlights the incompetency of the player/leaders.

Ad8) That's not a con, but a pro. If such should happen You kick the player which in the end will benefit the team. No individuals are greater than the team.

Ad9) This again should be agreed in the team during the preperation day to leave some "windows" open for the weaker players.

Ad10) If Co-Leader does that, he/she must have a good reason and will surely tell You. If NOT, then it's a positive thing, because then You know You're in the wrong clan.
