[Solution/Suggestion] Implementing all the flags of the world without taking up space

Dear Sir or Madam,
Since I really love Clash of Clans and see many people being able to representate the countries they are proud of or they just really like, I really feel excluded to be Lithuanian. For the smaller countries (like sub 3mil inhabitants) of our beautful planet it will never be possible to be able to representate their countries.


My suggestion would be:
1. Removing all the national flags from the decorations shop
2. Increase the amount of white flags that can be built to something sub 25
3. When a white flag is bought and placed you'll be able to upgrade it into a national flag of your choice (hell or even some fancy gem flag)


Firstly this would take away alot of decoration shop space. (25 national flags)
Also I think national flags are less something you want to decorate your village with, but more something you want to representate so being able to build 25 flags is not necessary. The amount of white flags that can be built could be increased up to around 5 to ensure or maybe even improve game performance while implementing alot more flags to choose from.

Think about it: either way you are storing data of those flags you upgrade to. So this is basically asking to add all the flags, simple as that. I'm sorry but this idea can't work with the code. The reason is that SC doesn't want lag on older devices.

Anyway, I don't see how it can take up so much space? Simply store a picture of each flag (Which mind you, almost takes up nothing, with compression it'll be beyond insignificant. And resource usage wise it should be essentially the same) and have 25 white flags instead (Or whatever number, be it even 10 only. I don't care) from which they choose the flag manually, from the list of all countries.

I really don't see a truly valid reason as to why it can't be done this way.

Think about it; this is just a more complex version of actually adding every single flag. Also you can trust the professional coders of SC when they say that it lags older devices.

I know exactly what you're thinking, but maybe you misunderstood me. I am not talking having a separate flag object. simply have one object, which, will be the blank flag. The white space being an 'interactive' space. Basically where you can change it's properties without actually constructing an entire new flag object with the flag colours.

Now, all they would require is to make a certain amount of those blank flag objects (Which, again, they already have) and each of them being an interactive object...No need for over 150 flag objects, just a few with property changing values. They're professional coders, like you've said yourself. They can make it work.

But if they really wanted to make the game playable for older devices, why have they implemented clan wars? compared to some simple flags it seems massive to me.

And they will clearly be releasing more bigger updates in the future, which compared to this flag update, it would be insignificant resource wise.

Yeah... that is even worse. That means that people will be making a ton of different custom flags which will take more space.
And no, i didn't misunderstand you. I'm pretty sure you just didn't take me seriously.

The lag is from rendering animations, not keeping track of flag images. That would just increase the game size by a small amount.

What happens already is, for each flag, the game finds the correct flag image and tells the flag to use that.
This would just be a more general way of doing the same thing.

I like this solution, but feel that, as flags do absolutely nothing, it isn't really necessary.

Yes, but if there are the same amount of "general" flags as there are existing flags, it won't need to render any more flags than it does now.

Not custom flags...Preset flags of each country. Sorry, but a tiny compressed image (This is a damn in-game flag we're talking about) takes up so little space, that my toaster could probably handle them.

You must also be highly against all decorations, since you're using the argument of "but which one provides real ingame use"
Sure, they don't. there we can agree, and everyone with a single brain cell will also understand that. It's just that they're there, so why not make it right. You're the one still not understanding me...Maybe now you do.

Summary:
NO 'custom' flags.
PRESET flags only, which I already stated take up so little space, and with the removal of the old ones it'll just be back to square one in resource usage. It'll be as if your game never changed efficiency wise.

EDIT: preset flags which will be in modifiable state. So no new 'objects' to be introduced in the game.

EDIT2: while writing this another person made you understand it, oh well.

My country already a has a flag, and like you said, I am proud to represent it centralised among bushes and torches. So I can certainly see why other countries want their flags implemented, and I see absolutely no faults with this idea. It is the flags waving around that takes the memory, not the still picture in the shop. If, like you said they cap it at a certain number, the same they have now, they keep their balance and everyone gets a flag. Surprised this was never thought up before. Great idea, and I don't normally say that in the ideas sub forum.
