At what level do Golems Eclipse Giants? At what level is the witch usable?

I was wondering which level makes the golem a better meat shield option than 6 lvl 6 giants? When should I start using golems for GoWiPe/GoWiWi? And is the witch usable for GoWiWi at level 1? or does it have to be level 2? Thanks to any responses:cool:. Experienced respondents preferred.

Witch only has two levels sooo

It depends on who you're attacking. I can manage 2 stars using level 1 golems w/ GoWiPe on maxed TH 8/(not maxed) TH 9s with level 1 xbows, havent really tried it any higher than that.

No advice on witches, unlocking them now.

I've been wondering the same thing. I will say I've been using 15 giants with 20 wizards and 2 pekkas, and it has been a strong army to get dark elixir. Problem is spring traps though....

ok, thnx for the input. I'm thinking what level i need my golems to be to attack a decent town hall 9 though.

This is for cw though. just need a general idea of what level golems i should be using as a town hall 9 vs other town hall 9s.

Just In terms of being a meat shield, I think a golems immunity to the spring trap and the fact that it spawns golemites (whose HP almost equals a max giants HP at level 1) makes them better then max giants even at level 1.

I saw witches are usable at levels one or two. Below that they are useless

That's what I was thinking, but Golems do much less damage and they are a lot slower.

You should be able to 2 star th9s using GoWiWi even with both level 1. But your heroes should have their abilities available.

If you talk about 3 stars, Golems level 2+ and witches level 2 with maxed golem in clan castle should be able to get you 3 stars against th9s (as a th9). You just need to practice a lot and eventually you'll get it like I did.

Golems have 4500 health at lv1. Maxed giants have 934 health. Six giants can fit into the same capacity as golem. 934 X 6. Giants are better maxed, so golems eclipse them at lv3. Also consider that a golem cannot be flung by spring traps and breaks into 2 golemites. They also do damage when they die, and to me this makes them superior.

As for the witch, the witch is useable at lv1 obviously. But it gets a large boost at lv2, so I personally would wait until you have it at lv2....

you cant simply compound the health of giants and compare them to a golem of equivalent housing space. when the 934 health giants die the defense that was locked onto them will switch targets to the now nearest troop, which could potentially be your wizards instead of another giant. however, that same defense when targetting a golem will continue fixated on said golem until all 4500 health expires, making it a much better shield.

of course this is all relative, for instance against multifernos, giants could be argued to provide more protection as a shield

Yes, but that doesnt account for all the stuff danny said below. And you didn't account for the golemite health, which when added to the normal golem, is more than 6 lvl 6 giants.

6*934=5,604 HP (6*lvl 6 giant)
4500+900+900=6300 HP (lvl 1 Golem+ lvl 1 Golemite+ lvl 1 Golemite)

So even the health is in favour of the level 1 golem.

And giants also take more splash damage because they are 6 separate units, the golem is a single unit. I'm just wondering if the Giant's speed and damage make up for its losses in health and general tankiness.

The damage difference they deal is negligible considering the cookie cutting splash DPS of the wizards.

Golems also keep any defenses shooting at them occupied until the golem breaks. So if somehow your dps units like hogs or wizards get ahead of the golem the defenses will still keep focusing on the golem. Great for xbows, mortars, archer towers even wizard towers.

It's just my opinion and I can't say I've gowiped or gowiwi'd a whole lot, but imo golems will always be better:
-The point of the golem is to attract the defenses' fire on itself. Once a defense is targeting the golem, unless it goes out of its reach it won't let go. While the golem will keep the fire on itself until it dies, 6 giants will make the defenses change target 6 times as the giants die. So say a defense aims at a giant. Once the giant dies, the defense might aim at another giant, or lock on your other troops and that would be no good
-Splash damage: as obvious as it sounds, giant bombs, wizard towers or mortars will be deadlier to giants rather than golems
-Spring traps: one of those and goodbye to 3 giants or half your makeshift golem

I have tried GoWiPe with

2 Golems L1

4 Pekkas L3
9 + 6cc wizards L5

and it has worked out great for me

You already listed everything I could think of: Giants have more damage, higher speed, and can distract more units (Spread them out) at the cost of being way more susceptible to splash damage and traps (Giant Bomb and Spring traps) and a lower Total HP pool. I'm guessing Gowipe/wiwi is better is the vast majority of time as if Giwipe/wiwi is more powerful, then at least one of the hundreds of thousands of Clashers would've announced it already. It would be interesting to see what happens when one uses say 1 Golem and 12 Giants instead of 3 Golems. One main tank and a bunch of sub par meat shields who help increase the damage output towards defensive buildings significantly. Even though Wizards are the cookie cutters of a Gowipe/Wiwi raid, bases such as the Southern Teaser will have storages that can stop Witches/Wizards for a significant amount of time whereas the Giants would ignore the miscellaneous buildings and head straight towards the defenses. Because the defenses are taken out quicker, more of your troops will be alive and have a better chance at that 50% and Townhall.

I'm not sured if this had been mentioned but Golemites can be taken out by Spring Traps.

I have tried the same comp :). The L1 golems die quite fast, but I think it's still effective. I 2 starred a weak town hall 10 with L1 infernos, so i suppose it works.

For war a golem is always better because they do not spread out like giants do and spring traps don't effect them. Lvl 1 witches are very usable in cw, i got some 3 stars on th9's with them.
