It's a 20% Loss, not a 5% Loss

That's it exactly! Yes! People are misled by the 5% figure and don't understand how it really works. In reality, we've lost 20% of the available loot, not 5%. And the league bonuses don't begin to address the loss -- nor do I think they should even try. SC couldn't reasonably increase the loot bonuses enough to make up for the percentage loss; the bonuses would have to be huge. And imo, it wouldn't be nearly as fun just to be handed a lot of loot, anyway: I like to win it in raids; that's the fun of the game.
So while I understand the impulse of people who are saying, "increase the loot bonuses," I don't agree. Even if SC added, say, 1000 G/E to every bonus -- or 5000 or even 10,000 -- it wouldn't make up for the overall 20% loss of available resources.
The upgrade included several nice touches, but to me, the negative consequences of the loot percentage drop (particularly the difficulty of finding enough elixir to raid that will let you break even, let alone get ahead) outweigh the benefits.
I think that if the goal is to protect the resources of new players, then we need some system that would do just that -- maybe one that would base the available percentage on the TH level of both raider and villager. As it is, I don't see how the lower percentages help the newbies. Sure, they lose less, but they also win less. So they pretty much end up where they started, I would think. And the rest of us now win a lot less, too.
SC: please devise some graduated system of decreasing percentages that would genuinely help those with THs of level five or lower, and please restore the overall available loot levels to 25%.
