Very fun and cool update! Hyvä supercell!
The loot will comeback the update is fresh everyone is jumping on spending their gold. Give it a week everything will go back to the way it was.
Also as far as the loot bonus I think something is better then nothing and its a great starting point, I think the only way to really test how it would affect the game was to start out low rather then star out high and then later have to reduce and have everyone flip out. I think the next step would be to give the loot bonus out for defensive wins as well!
They did improve the game in several ways aside from the league system. In my opinion all the following tweaks were needed and improve the game. None of them require player gemming or otherwise lead to more $ in SC pockets.
- Bug fix for the wb AI
- Bug fix for the wiz tower/mortar
- Air bomb radius reduction
- Walls rotate
- Faster spell training
They also took money out of their pockets by speeding up build times for pumps and mines as well as reducing upgrade times for DE troops.
It's a good update. The league system just doesn't really work right now. But they'll iterate on it until it does.
Thanks for the feedback on Leagues guys!
I can totally see where you're coming from on the loot bonuses. A lot of thought went into the balance and while one way to look at it is "something is better than nothing" if the majority of the community is not happy with it we will reevaluate and think of ways to improve/make as many people as possible happy with the bonuses.
I can't make any promises that the loot bonuses will change, but this specific bit of feedback will definitely be relayed to the team!
i don't care about anything else if I cannot profit enough from raiding to make progress in the game. Keep in mind I have spent hours and hours raiding to save up for things like level 6 archers in the past. If I have to do that with the current structure it might take me ten times as long, nothing else matters until they fix that.
I have a longstanding tradition of writing a long essay, diagnosing each aspect of a new update, after a day or two of testing, after the inevitable whining dies down...
But, I'll break tradition and offer some feedback here (early, and imbedded within 27 pages already, wow!). I've played around with the golems and L6 war balloons, etc, etc, and below I offer my initial reactions, in a hopefully balanced, constructive tone:
1. League Bonuses
For good or for bad, people's expectations were shaped by the various sneak peeks and videos from San Francisco. Yes, Laso did indeed say, that the figures were place holders and were subject to change. But, lol, you know this community... they were off to the races.
So, these numbers, particularly at the lower end of the trophies, are lower than what was expected (again, even though it was properly conditioned as preliminary).
That being said, there were two things that were bugging me from the preview but I held my tongue until the update was out. First was the rather linear, static increases up the leagues. And, rightfully, the community reacted that there did not seem much incentive to rise to 2k, and instead just stay at 1.4k. However, since I am such a deviant, I was convinced that SC would curve the loot bonuses, and I parked at 2200 trophy. Lol, and indeed you did.
I think it makes tremendous sense to give progressively more loot as you increase up the leagues. 13k, 19k, 29k, 43k, etc... yes, that makes a lot of sense, to keep exponentially (not linearly) raising it.
Ok, second issue, that I had before this update was a lack of incentive of going beyond 1 star. I thought a multiple or scaling factor should have been imposed. Frankly, lol (don't shoot me), I thought the loot bonuses were too large as originally contemplated and I thought that figure should be the full 3 star amount and it would get scaled DOWN with a 1 star or a 2 star.
With the lower bonuses, I would humbly suggest a 2 star or 3 star multiplier of some factor. I think a 3 star victory should simply offer a larger bonus than a 1 star. And it would help bridge the whiners above in this thread, clamoring for more loot. Just a suggestion
P.S. On this topic, given the pop up at 2600, I put my TH inside and will raise my trophies a bit now.
2. Balloon Splash Damage
I've been playing around with balloons for a few days, anticipating the splash kamikazee death damage. I think it is a step in the right direction, as frankly, both low troph and high troph players do not use war balloons much.
I think the issue is that the kamikaze effect is a straight drop, plop down death. I would suggest it be a slight angle towards whatever popped the balloon. Whenever I see those old war clips of Japanese air pilots kamikazeeing, they do not drop vertically, but rather at a diagonal, aiming at the battleship, etc... Using that analogy, it is odd to see a war balloon being popped by an archer tower, and seeing it drop straight down into the outside perimeter grass.
I've seen now many L6 war balloons dropping and doing splash damage on the outer perimeter walls. Lol, just lovely. Anyways, I would humbly suggest the balloon target whichever defense killed it, and scale down the damage it does on death acoordingly lower, so it is not too strong. Same concept for CC troops defending against balloons.
3. Golems
I did a few raids with golems. And similar to the reaction many of us had with the first three DE troops, we were comparing max level elixir troops vs. level 1 DE troops. And unfortunately, I am doing the same, and I should wait for the golems to be higher level...
But, on first reaction, golems have 4500 health with 30 occupancy spots. So that's 150 hp per spot. L6 giants have 800 hp for 5 spots, for 160 hp. For a pure meat shield, I find L6 giants still more effective and the diversification helps. Again, my caveat that we are comparing L6 vs L1, of course.
Well, what about the splitting? I'm playing on a phone and from my initial raids, I just see the splintered twins just poofing, and dying, rather quickly. I'll keep playing with them, but for now, I'm raising my trophies slightly, so the golems just help me lose, lol...
Said another way, these golems remind me of Pekkas, which at max lvl, have 3500 health and 300 DPS. Lvl 1 Golem (again, apples to oranges comparison) only has 38 DPS (vs 300 for Pekkas), yet 4500 health. Hmm, I'd rather use Pekkas (which I don't normally use anyways) for attacking. Or giants for meat shields.
4. Levels Being Replaced by League in Various Chats
There's enough threads on this, but I would humbly request that levels be considered to be brought back, in conjunction with leagues shown in the various screens.
My best logic is the clans have a mechanism to restrict applicants based on trophies. But, many, many, many clans restrict based on levels, and with the absence of a level-application mechanism, please make it easier for us to recruit/screen/apply within the clan chat.
5. Clan Chat Time Stamp
Lol, in all seriousness, this was the best part of the update for me. Thank goodness that darn clan chat clock works.
6. Teslas/ Wizard Tower
Somehow, all four of my teslas are already L7 and that fourth wizard tower is already max level. Lol... wink, wink. I don't recall a sneak peak for the Wizard Tower, but you naughty SC folks snuck one in, didn't you! :)
Seriously though, I have a TH8 and a TH9 alt. And I can empathize with the TH8 folks saying they are getting no goodies. My Junior alt got two new decorations but my main alt has all the goodies. If, or when, TH10 gets revealed, this may "stretch" this out so that the TH8 folks don't feel as if TH9 gets all the goodies...
7. Clan Castle Holding 30
I love the new look, and I like seeing (hopefully) 30 little green men in my CC. Along with L7 teslas and another wizard tower, obviously, a beefing up on defenses, to help safeguard against all the new DE troops, and such. Kudos.
Can't see any down side to this... I'm just waiting for some darn clannies to start donating golems to me. Who cares that they will be terrible defenders, I'm sure... it's just something to get over with, haha.
8. Thank You
By the way, thank you for the update. It's enjoyable and my clannies are having fun. The fix to the mortar/wizard tower incorrectly targeting, and other such as the walls rotating, are well appreciated.

Steve, for whatever it's worth, it's not just the bonuses. There's a conflict as it relates to town halls. The incentives are all wrong for farmers. I want to sell mine in exchange for the shield, and farmers are happy to take the exchange for the bonus loot. Somehow these incentives need to be realigned so it's not such a no-brainer for me to sacrifice it and for farmers to claim it.
As soon as I log out I pick up a shield right now. That's good for me, but it isn't good for the game.
My opinion;
The new interface looks really good but hey I'm really dissapointed that there is no level indicator anymore..
It feels like we are forced to LIKE trophies but some (most people) simply don't. You can't force your players/customers to do/like something.
I have been playing for some months and spent a fair amount of money and planned to max th9 with gems as soon as I was done farming with th8, I've always enjoyed the game untill today to be honest I'm thinking of quitting the game.
As elder, when new people apply I have to check their base for their level since we have a level cap in our clan.
Global is pretty useless now, I always looked up to higher players and now it's level 10's mixed with level 100's which is not fair since nobody is in the mood to check every clan to know their level.
It goes always like this; many many good games are ♥♥♥♥ now because the makers totally changed the game and Supercell is going the same way with this update..
I wonder how Sneaky-Dave must feel? He worked really hard for his level and all seems to be worthless now..
We really want the level indicator back ASAP or some will really quit the game, which means a big loss for supercell
