If you farm a LOT, then the DE drill is of very low impact.
If you rely on collectors and do not raid much, the dual high level DE drills are critical
If you farm a LOT and are doing AQ updates at the 60K+ mark, then the drills help offset raid losses a lot.

Believe it not, I can do math! You do realize that as you stockpile more resources, your base becomes more attractive to attack and you will get farmed for specific purposes. As a result, a gradual gain of DE via drills once your stores get stuffed loses efficacy and getting to the next upgrade breakpoint non-linearly scales. In other words, all else equal going from 0-20K dark from drills is easier than 80K-100K as the losses and frequency of attacks change.Quote:

best thing you can do for yourself at th9 is to max both your DE drills ASAP.
even if you dont upgrade your heros the dark troops are so much stronger than normal troops
